Great location which means that everything inside is overpriced… but I only come here for the sandwich/​sub. So I am giving the sandwich a 4⁄5. It is cheap and… did I mention cheap? Actually, it is a good value. There is a huge selection to choose from. I always get either the tuna salad or the veggie patty. There are many toppings to choose from and the cheese option is pretty impressive. You will find many interesting cheese option to give a normal sandwich a new taste.

I’ve made good use of the grocery store in this place. Mainly for bananas and deli meat. Most the of the packaged foods are priced much higher than Giant or Walmart so I avoid those. It has come in very handy as I live downtown. Staff is generally friendly.

This is a small corner grocery store and Penn State merchandise store combined. They have your average PSU merchandise with a couple unique items. Similar to all the other PSU merchandise stores downtown.

They pretty much have everything you need. The subs are basic but very good and the prices are good. The prices for everything else are pretty pricey.
On an off note I would suggest not working there. The owners are real douches.

How come no one has reviewed McLanahan’s?! In the best valley voice I can make, this is place is like, totally essential.
McLanahan’s has the prime of prime spots in State College right by Shortlidge Road, which is basically your main way out of campus onto College Avenue. It’s your place to go right before your party if you need snacks and ping pong balls for whatever activity you partake in. McLanahan’s also boasts some college gear and usually always has themed shirts, such as the ones for State Patty’s Day and shirts for solidarity at the Blue and White game when the Virginia Tech tragedy occurred. And if you ran out of your toothpaste or something, you can stop by McLanahan’s to help you out.
If you’re living on campus without a car, McLanahan’s kind of is your essential place if you’re in a time crunch and at your convenience.
