This is a hidden gem in State College. We have been here twice, both times for dinner, and both times everyone had excellent meals. From steak to shrimp, from scallops to chicken. Salads and crab cake, all very good. The price point is excellent. The service is excellent. The bar selection is acceptable. We will definitely be back again!

Hidden in the Hampton Inn. Fresh food. Had the butternut squash soup that was thick and tasted very good. Also, had the pulled pork sandwich which came with slaw on top. Was pleased with my order, nothing exceptional but a good sandwich. Others in our group enjoyed their meal.

This place was a total joke(and I live in this town). We stopped in on 10⁄9(homecoming weekend) at 9:00 pm, for small plates and wine. The coconut shrimp tasted like frozen Sams Club, crab cakes were little dough balls. Not gourmet! Very disappointed!

My grandma wanted to take her favorite grandchild to lunch. I decided to invite myself along with my parents. My mom thinks this place is the tits. She rave to me about their specialty french food menu and couldn’t wait to go. This restaurant is located in the Hilton Garden Inn so the space feels like, well, a hotel. The bonus is that parking is easy! I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. While the food was fine, I didn’t think it was anything great. It tasted like the typical under-seasoned and bland food Happy Valley people love. The food here is suppose to be locally sourced, natural, and fresh so there’s that.

Did I just order the wrong things? Terrible. And not cheap! I ordered the chicken skewers to start: cooked fine, but the sauces they use both on and on the side just taste like the most generic BBQ sauce. Next the pulled pork sandwich, well, it doesn’t taste like they cooked it here. If this isn’t just reheated filling on a toasted bun, I’d be shocked. Served with very liquidy coleslaw and some potato chips. Too bad. It’s in the hotel that I’ll be coming back to soon, but I won’t bother again. (Note that I ordered via room service, which may have impacted the quality… you know… when they had to walk it down the hall.)

Very good food for the location. The local feta cheese and olives appetizer is delicious as is the local yogurt for breakfast. Outstanding service and reasonably priced wine list.

Don’t be fooled by the 4 star rating, the food just isn’t good. I got the risotto balls, the calamari and a strip steak which all lacked flavor and we’re very underwhelming. The savior of the meal was the crem brûlée and the wine selection was actually pretty decent, but overall I spent about $ 100 on food that left me very disappointed.

Went here today with my friends for lunch. I wasn’t sure what to order. Everything on the menu looked really good, so the waitress suggested the piri piri wrap. She said it was one of her favorites, so I disided to order it. It was delicious!!! :-) the butternut squash soup was the best one I have ever had at a restaurant. My friends enjoyed there wraps and salads also. Will definitely recommended this place to others! :-)

Good selection of dishes, mine was good, is Italian oriented I would say, a little expensive but good quality, normal decoration, is the same mood of the hotel lobby

We go to this restaurant on a relatively regular basis. We usually have the same waiter. She is great. Friendly. Answers all of our questions. And it’s on top of things throughout the meal without being intrusive. We went v three today for my birthday. They had a special summer entrée called the Summer Isle of Capri. It was a prix fixe 3-course meal with a combined flight of wines picked out as an apertif and paired wines for the appetizer, entrée, and dessert. I had the Cabrese salad, the fruiti di mare linguini, and the lemon cake with gelato. My husband had the veggie salad(don’t recall its name), the ricotta ravioli, and the chocolate almond torte. Our son ordered off the regular menu, having the Caesar salad and the steak. My only complaint was that the scallops in my linguini were a bit overcooked(somewhat rubbery). Everything else was great. And my son said that his Caesar salad is the best made salad in town. Dress however you like. We often go casual. Today we decked ourselves out.

Took a large group to Harrison’s in May to celebrate our son’s graduation. The manager was very accommodating with the planning. The food and service was outstanding! Good gluten free options as well. Wished we had found out about Harrison’s his freshman year!

I was unaware that this place was attached to the hilton. It’s about a mile away from town and I didn’t have high hopes. However, it was really very good. Nice wine list to accompany a very nice, local inspired menu. I got the wild mushroom parradelle and my wife got the pretzel crusted(yes pretzels! from nearby Hanover) chicken which was very good. If you want an out of the way meal right off a hotel lobby this is the spot.

I’m originally from State College and used to love going to Harrisons. I felt that you couldn’t go wrong with anything on the menu. In fact, when I was perusing the menu I was having a really tough time deciding on what to get. It’s been probably two years since the last time I was there, but my opinion has drastically changed after my meal there last night. I started with the ceviche, which was just bad. The fish was over cooked and tough… isn’t ceviche supposed to be raw? For my main course I got a caesar salad with the grilled balsamic steak. I’ve had their chicken satays in the past, which I thought were amazing and was expecting warm, tender, flavorful steak with a nice glistening glaze. What came out was really poorly executed and tasted like something I could have gotten in an airport except maybe a bit worse. The steak wasn’t just room temperature, it was freezing cold and over cooked. I asked them to warm it up, which didn’t help much. Very disappointing. My husband got a steak medium rare which was medium if not medium well, but he said the flavor was good. Anytime our server came by she would say«me lady» such as «are you finished me lady?» I didn’t think I was at Medieval Times, but that’s beside the point and she was very nice otherwise. I’m not sure if I’m in the minority here based on other reviews, but I’ve eaten at Harrisons dozens of times in the past and this was nothing like it used to be.

Exceptionally good for a hotel restaurant. Ordered the mini crab cakes and Caesar salad. Cakes had very little filler and were lightly fried. Dill aioli was more like tartar sauce. Caesar salad was good and quite large. Prices were reasonable and menu selections were extensive. Will try again next time in the area.

A well-curated menu, and awesome vegetarian friendly dishes. The restaurant avoids a problem many state college restaurants have– too large a menu with not enough quality. On my most recent visit it ordered a gnocchi dish that usually has sausage, but had the option of being vegetarian– creamy and delicious love it! I’ve also had the ginger margarita(boozy and not too sweet), the papardelle with mushrooms, and the marinated mushroom starter is addictive.

Great place. They had four vegetarian soups today. All of them superb. The salad bar is also fantastic. Others had quiche, seafood platter and the gnocchi. Each item was superb. Earlier you had to ask if something was vegetarian or made with chicken stock. Now it is all clearly labelled. Vegetarians delight. Service is very slow but that could be because they were full.

Everyone needs to try the butternut squash bisque. It is the best!!! The sandwiches are heat as well as the fresh bar. I stop here every time I am in state college. Also, they have a grey variety of local food and wines.

RAVES! If I lived around here this would be my favorite restaurant and they’d be sick of seeing me all the time. Food and atmosphere has just the right casual/sophisticated vibe. Appealing menu with creative interpretations of fresh local foods, wonderful execution, accommodating and well-trained staff. I loved the dining experience — delicious, upscale, and fun all at the same time. The room is light-filled and airy, and has a small attractive bar on one side. Comfy and spacious booth or table seating. And the food! Fresh, local, subtle, glorious. Love love love this place.

This place is a great find. It is quiet, clean, no distracting or noisy televisions, not overrun by students — all pluses. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and finished with Penn State ice cream — always a treat. Great menu in a nice quiet environment = repeat customers for us.
