Great and great big salad — a perfect place for a vegan to stop for a bite!

This place is great if you’re a huge salad addict– hands down. Fiddlehead is a cute small shop that allows you to make your own salad, and a sure as hell good one. for the price payed, they give you a good amount of salad making it easy to share with another person. What I got– spinach, asiago cheese, egg, mandarin oranges(a must!), corn, chicken and some bomb avocado lime dressing. It was so refreshing, delicious, and quite filling I would definitely come back if I stayed around here, just to grab a quick, fresh, and guilt free lunch

Ten dollars for a salad seems high to me, but the quality of the ingredients is high.(Except the artichoke hearts… lots of very tough leaves) lots to choose from, good portion, fast service.

Like other reviewers say, the salads are very big so you’re getting your $ 10-$ 11 worth. The ingredients are fresh and there are a lot of options. I love that this place specializes in only soup and salad. They do it well. I only gave 4 stars because the seating is limited and sometimes it can be hard to find a clean area to sit.

Great salads, I’m just not sure why they make them so big. Every time I get a salad I end up paying $ 11 and can only finish a third of it. I always try to save it for later, but it ends up getting soggy and going to waste.

My favorite salad place. I ordered the same thing every time and never got bored. Spinach, asiago cheese, mushrooms(sometimes), homemade croutons, avocado, grapes, & corn. Avocado lime dressing — I am addicted. I have lived in NY a while now and no one has a similar dressing. It’s truly unique. The ingredients were fresh 85% of the time I came here. If I saw the mushrooms were extra dark, I just didn’t order them. Service was fast and efficient. Everyone was friendly. Prices are on the higher side, so watch what extras you add.

Pretty cool concept. They have tons of ingredients. I come here like once a week. All salads are bout 10 bux but you can make it last for 2 meals minimum and maybe even 5 meals max. It goes without saying the bowl is pretty friggin big. They also got meats ranging from chicken, bacon, beef, to even shrimp. If they could do a salmon, id probably come twice a week.

We(my hubby and I) just love this place. The veggies are so fresh, you can choose as much salad as you want, and the number of veggies that you want, and your salad will never be more than 11 dols. I have ordered salad with 10 extra toppings and I never pay more than 11 dollars. I recommend the siracha vinaigrette with avocado lemon. The mix gives a creamy and sourly taste. We order the other day one of the soups of the day, it was IRRESISTIBLYDELICIOUS. THE owners of this restaurant also have another restaurant called IRVINGS, and I love it too. I have been there many Saturday, but I am not sure I have checked in yet. I recommend from this last restaurant bagel with cream cheese, lox, capers and onions.

You can’t beat a Fiddlehead salad. They are jam-packed full of fresh lettuce and other ingredients. I almost always get the Backyard BBQ, which is super filling, but what makes it so good is their dressing. Now, I’m not a dressing person. I never eat dressing anywhere. But Fiddlehead, I MUST always get the Avocado Lime dressing — it’s delicious! I’ve tried to find a replacement so that I can have it at home, but nothing comes close. While it’s a $ 10 salad, you can easily make it into 2 meals. Totally worth it!

Best salads in State College. You get what you pay for: a ton of fresh lettuce and delicious toppings. I always opt for olive oil and vinegar but have tried some of the other dressings and they’re also good. You can ask them to do a mix of lettuce types for you and definitely get cracked pepper!

Pretty darn filling with all things good for you. I think. Love the salad bowls. Soup was hearty and I’m leaving this State College find ironically looking for where the closest location is to my home. Looks like this is it so you gotta go STATE!

The«best for you» food downtown! I actually crave their salads. I recommend the Bob Cobb. Something important to know that’s not posted anywhere, is that you can swap out ingredients. Any veggies in a «named» salad can be swapped for any other. Same with the meats. The Bob Cobb is heavy on the good stuff — chicken, bacon, egg, and avocado plus veggies. I also swap out the dressing to the fiddlehead vinaigrette — delicious and not too heavy. Super paleo salad! These salads are big! Big enough to start at lunch and finish with dinner. Winner, winner chicken(on a salad) dinner.

Wow! What a nice departure from the fried foods typical to the area! The salads are a bit pricey, but are big enough that I can usually split it into two meals. The soups are also fantastic! Overall this is a top notch place.

I love the gaucho salad with tofu subbed in for meat. They always make the salad cheaper with this substitution, which I greatly appreciate. One caveat: there is no way this salad is nutritious. I’m sure I’d be better off eating a few big macs. But, it’s very tasty and feels fresh.

If you want a BOWL full of salad, this is your place. They’ve got a good selection of toppings and dressings, and they don’t skimp on the portions. Sure, it’s a $ 10 salad, but I feel that you actually get your money’s worth thanks to their generosity, both in lettuce and in toppings. I was on a paleo diet when I visited, so I opted for the Bob Cobb, no cheese, with oil and vinegar dressing. My primary complaint is that the chunks of lettuce could be a little smaller, as I don’t really want to have to use a plastic fork on iceberg lettuce. Friendly staff, clean space(though small), and efficient ordering process.

Literally my favorite place ever! I wish I had one back home in Maryland! I always order the Backyard BBQ salad and they are huge salads! It is pricey but I’ll always pay to for it! Their soups are delicious too! The ingredients are fresh and amazing. Some of the tossers don’t put in as much as others but that’s my only complaint! FAVORITE!

Delicious salads. A bit pricey, but the salads are GIGANTIC. My recommendation is to split one salad per two people. There will still be leftovers, easily, and you will both be full.

We stopped by FH for a dinner during the week and were pleasantly surprised! This is the place for fresh ingredient salads and wraps. The menu consists of about 5 signature salads or you can select a build your own and choose from the multitude ingredients to make your dream salad. This evening we selected from the signature salads, ordering the Latin Flavored(I can’t remember the exact name) and the Gaucho salad. The first consisted of mixed greens, black beans, tortilla strips avocado, and others items then topped with a chipotle –lime dressing. The gaucho had seared strip steak, caramel onions, croutons, etc. Both salads were very tasty and were enough to make two meals out of for each of us! I felt the price was in line with the portion and fresh ingredients and will return in the future. The employees were very friendly and helpful also!

By far the best place to get a salad in State College. Also, the best place to get robbed for a salad in state college. I get the Gaucho every time because it’s delicious, but its like $ 11 for a salad! Us college kids don’t have this kind of money. The mushroom soup is delicious as well, but only order it if you’re willing to drop 15 bucks here. I personally prefer to go to Noodles & Company so I can save a few bucks, but when I’m in the mood to splurge on a great salad, Fiddlehead is the place.

Fresh ingredients, large portions, and affordable prices: the Trilemma restaurants around the world must grapple with. Well, for foodies striving to find this«impossible triangle» I have good news: Fiddlehead comes pretty close. Fiddlehead has a range of fresh ingredients for you to enjoy through either one of their standard menu salads or a «build your own» concoction(which includes greens, 4 toppings, and a dressing). I decided to build my own, going with spinach, hard-boiled eggs, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and sun-dried tomato dressing. The combination of sun-dried tomatoes and the very thick sun-dried tomato dressing(which the worker added some oil to so as to make it just a little runnier) was excellent – I highly recommend it. I was surprised how huge it was, too! They definitely don’t skimp on any of the ingredients, making for a massive salad that barely fits in the large serving-bowl-sized dishes. Who would’ve thought I’d be so full after eating a salad!?! The bowl of soup that my friend ordered was also pretty big. I also love the whole atmosphere and concept of Fiddlehead. Fresh, locally-sourced, Eco-friendly operations. And all that on top of the healthiness of all those veggies; you can’t NOT feel good about eating at Fiddlehead.
