I like ‘ducking in’ from time to time to grab breakfast here. It’s a quaint little place with pretty standard meal options. I think it could use an interior decorating overall if funds permit it, but other than that it’s always a nice place to sit in and have a meal.

Love this place! The local group brought a fun small town vibe. The owner, Sandy, took my order and was super nice. I had some yummy croissant French toast with eggs, bacon and fruit included and the coffee was great too. I will be back!

This is really a cool little gem in Stanwood… Hubby and I went for breakfast today and it was so huge that we just shared… The hash browns were cooked perfect, and the bacon is out of this world… hardly any fat in them… everything was great. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Next time we pop in we are going to try the lunch, they do serve breakfast all day which is nice if you tend to sleep in.

Aren’t small town cafés the best? This place is exactly that. Cozy, simple, very friendly service and great food. We are new to the area and just getting settled in… thought we’d give it a try. We had breakfast and loved it. We look forward to visiting again… and regularly.

My husband had the chicken fried steak and I had the Duck In Special. The food was okay, the service was genuinely warm. With all the fabulous reviews we were kind of disillusioned and unimpressed by the food. That being said, it was filling and cooked. Our breakfast was $ 21.75.

It’s still open! Aug 2014. What a wonderful local gem. Great breakfast!!! The cook is one hard worker… followed up by the great all lady wait staff. These ladies are a delight and keep you wanting to come back for more. We will come back again and again.

Cute diner in Standwood, WA. Honestly, we haven’t heard of the place/neighborhood before, but we decided to stop here for brunch on the way up to Vancouver. There weren’t that many reviews or pictures on Unilocal either, so we felt the extra need to explore and add our thoughts on here. The place is located about 15min off I-5,but it wasn’t that bad. There are bartell and gas stations nearby so this could be a good resting/stopping point if you are heading up North. It looked very old from outside, but the inside was quite cozy. They had the duck themed interior with duck wall papers, duck dolls, cup with duck drawing on it, etc. It didn’t take us long to realize that this is well loved breakfast place for locals as there were tons of families and elders enjoying their brunch. The menus are traditional american breakfast. We had veggie delight omelette and daily special egg benedict. Since the restaurant was pretty full, it took some time for food to come out, but we enjoyed our dish. The eggs benedict(~10 $) had perfectly poached egg, and the swiss cheese in the veggie omelette(~$ 12) was very tasty. I also enjoyed my little fruit salad(subsituted with hash brown). Overall, a good diner in a small town. Good find, 3 stars in my opinion :)

I used to drive to Stanwood once a week on business and always made it a point to stop by and have breakfast at The Duck In. It’s a quirky old-fashioned diner-type place with a duck décor that seems to mostly cater to the local hunters and retirees. When they had Eggs Benedict(on special, unfortunately not on the regular menu), they were absolutely awesome; the Benedict omelet was a nice twist on a classic, too. That was a bit of a hit-or-miss though, so when they were out of them, I usually had one of their omelets, all of which are solid and satisfying. I particularly recommend the oyster omelet, which was an occasional special and well worth ordering when available. As for à la carte, their country Benedicts are always satisfying and well-prepared. All in all, prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and quick, the place is nice in a quirky way and the food is excellent and with a variety of interesting specials. Definitely recommended.

Found this on Unilocal before we left So Cal for our trip to WA. It’s a very small place but everything was delish! Kids had pancakes and fresh fruit, and french toast. Husband had ‘the mess’ — loved it and ate it all! Everyone was friendly and the prices were good.

Take it from someone who is learning to visit the smaller«mom and pop» restaurants after moving to a rural community from a big city(Phoenix), don’t let the sparse décor on the outside deter you from enjoying the good food, friendly service, and quaintly pleasant atmosphere. The French Vanilla Cappuccino was deliciously welcoming with plenty of whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles! We were greeted at the door by a very friendly and attentive server who went out of her way to seat us promptly within a small setting. Everyone seemed to enjoy their breakfast in this warm hometown atmosphere. Don’t miss your chance as they are not open on Sundays. The prices are reasonable, too.

We went for lunch. I am pretty sure my food was bought from Costco and not super fresh. I wasn’t impressed and neither were any of my co-workers. There are better places in Stanwood for lunch.

Since The Islander only does breakfast on Sunday now, was in search for the perfect little breakfast spot and this is bar none the best. Service was outstanding and friendly and I really liked their duck theme they have going. Loved their mural they have on the back wall. So many fun things to look for. The food was totally great and would highly recommend this to anyone. Prices were very good too. If in Stanwood I would suggest you eat here.

Stopped in this morning for breakfast after a friend recommended and reading positive Unilocal reviews. The restaurant has that local feel where many of the patrons appear to be local folks. The service was friendly(they like to call customers by name) food was great, and prices were reasonable. Wife and I both had eggs, bacon, hashbrowns & toast and it all was excellent. Will definitely go back.

A solid 3 for a quaint and adorable little breakfast(and lunch) spot. Happened upon this on a recent camano to whidbey to peninsula and back road trip for breakfast and what a fun find! They take the duck theme pretty seriously here, and without overdoing it too badly. They even have one of those duck phones. It took me a minute to figure out where the quacking noises kept coming from. I went with one of their morning specials, the southwest scramble. Simple mix of sausage, onions, peppers and eggs. Comes with hashbrown and choice of toast. The sausage was really good. It had more of a pepperoni flavor to it than typical sausage and I enjoyed it. The hashbrowns were absolutely perfectly done. This was definitely a joint where the locals know to go and do so on a regular basis, everyone seemed to know everyone. Sit at the bar and enjoy the banter with your server and watching the grill cook work her perfectly timed magic.

First time here ~ we have been to most diners in the area ~ the food here was yummy, the service was very good, the amount of food was much less than all the others, which is fine, the others do give too much food, the serving size is a bit more true to what you should eat(still generous) I guess value wise since they don’t give as much but charge as much isn’t great, but still worth it! I would complain about the cleanliness, dust type dirt hanging from that mural, kept thinking with the ceiling fans or ac blowing the dust it was going to dislodge and end up in my food(YULK) oh well, it was overall a good experience, the food would be a 5, the service too, but the swinging mural dirt keeps me from an overall 5. I do recommend eating there though.

Wow i found this lil joint when I was getting liquor friday on camano island. Only open from like 6am to 1pm but worth a wait if busy. I sat outside for 5 min while they got the table ready. Then it was on! I had the country fried steak with hashbrowns and eggs and it was excellent. The staff was really nice even though the braids and appearance kinda shocked them. They treated me like family and I loved it!
