I’ve lived here in the City since 2004. I’ve lived lots of places and consider myself an involved citizen in most places I go. I’m a Planning Commissioner here for the past two(?) years now, and I’ve gotta say, the City staff here are the most professional, caring people of any city I’ve ever lived or worked. Stanton is one of the smallest cities in Orange County(yes, it is Orange County), and we often get a bad rap because of the poverty level or the caliber of businesses here. However, after growing up here, living in other places and working and serving other cities, I have to say, I find Stanton a good place to live – especially if you’re just starting a family or becoming a first time homeowner. It’s pretty affordable to live here compared to most places in Orange County and the city staff and Council Members work really hard to ensure that its safe, business friendly and has as many opportunities for its residents as possible. Take for example the Parks and Recreation Department. While the city only has a few small parks, it utilizes City Hall to offer residents many types of affordable classes(ESL, arts, college fairs, dance, cooking, etc) so residents don’t have to travel far. City Hall is closed on Fridays, but otherwise, you can find city staff there ready, and genuinely interested in helping you address any concerns or questions Monday through Thursday from 8(?) AM to 6PM. Check it out! PS: Planning Commission meetings take place the first and third Wednesdays of the month, so if you’re at all interested in seeing what the business or residential development communities are up to, it’s a great place to get involved and let your opinions be heard.
