Victor Dean Transmission Service

I just can’t say enough great things about Victor Dean. I have a 2008 GMC Acadia and the trans went bad about a year ago. After being referred to Victor by my friend Scotty G. «Auto MD» in Hackettstown (another great, honest mechanic), Victor told me the trans was shot, the GMC trans are for crap, and it would need to be rebuilt, which he did, and did all he could to save us as much money as possible, and he did. Victor is a tell it like it is, honest guy and I’m happy to recommend his expertise to anyone. After the trans was re-​built, there was another minor issue, which he repaired, no charge. I tried to talk him into having lunch delivered for his shop, but all he wanted was to fix the problem and ensure I had a safe vehicle for my kids to drive. Thank you Victor (and Scotty G!) for being one of the honest ones!

Well like most people I get scared when transmission starts acting up. I myself am mechanically inclined, more than oil changes less them machining, but more than comfortable doing head jobs and any suspension etc. My trans guy died and I don’t trust anyone as far as I can throw them, I wouldn’t use a chain like aamco. I’d sell my truck first… so like most I googled, yellow paged, and finally narrowed it to two people, mr dean and force 10 in hamburg… after reading on line I saw a few bad reviews for force ten, but it tis the Internet and I took it with a grain of salt… So I made the next move and I called force ten, I explaine day problem ove rather phone he said I can’t do anything with out seeing it, 48 mile ride. Get off the phone call mr dean, the first thing he said is check this and check that give me a call back… astonished I did as instructed and I called another six times, wearing my welcome out a little… he answered politely every time and. Was trying his best to save me time and money… After a few tem fixes my transmission finally broke altogether, mr dean gave me a very fair price… and a two year warrantee… prior to dropping off the truck. I ordered parts that could have been par of the problem, b it I didn’t trot install them I knew they would be used in the rebuild, so I offered them, to mr dean to install, since I just ordered and new in box. I figured why not, I saved 33 ordering a part that was sub standard and. Un known to me made win china… They had been installed …
They failed with in 100 miles, Devastated our trans with less than 100 miles on it. Showed a service engine code and was shifting funny, I called mr dean, he again patiently walks me threw procedures to decipher the problem, after doing so, he offered me a time to oceans he would service the truck again… now I asked how much th ediffrence would be and he said. No. Charge (so I gave him parts I bought online for lees than factory oem part and it faild, and mr dean said. He’d rather install the factory part and know its correct for no charge). Now I was prepared to pay it was. Not his fault or mine but certainly more mine than his… tar dean is stand up in my book and I will give home, my service as long as I am driving, I am 45 miles away and I will travel that anyway for service like this and honesty, The man knows what he is doing. And he doesn’t b.s.

We were referred to Victor by another auto repair facility in Hopatcong, just a few minutes away. They told us that Victor does all their transmission work and can rebuild a transmission in as little as three hours since that’s all he does, all day, every day.
We showed up with a vehicle that was giving a warning for every piece of equipment involving the transmission. He took it for a drive, popped the hood, swapped out a fuse and that was it. We may have a problem in the future, but that seemed to fix it for now.
He’s very friendly, the shop is just like every other car shop, clean enough to be healthy, but you wouldn’t want to sleep there. :)
Anyway, I highly recommend Victor if you’re in the area and have a transmission issue. He really seems like a nice guy.
