Closed — that was fast. Good location — what will be next?

The«new» menu plan didn’t make it. The owners need to return to the family style menu and add pizzas, and make the price range more reasonable. The area doesn’t need more high end, expensive Italian restaurants … it needs more reasonably priced Italian spots with a wider menu selection included good pizzas!

THISRESTAURANTISNOWCLOSED. We work upstairs and have been watching them slowly demolish the interior of what used to be the restaurant.

A Northern Italian Restaurant located in a mix retail and business district on Canal Street. The restaurant has an elegant design with traditional dark wood dining room that provides a warm cozy appeal. For the first time, I was celebrating face to face my birthday with my Aunt that shares the same birth date. She chose Eclisse Restaurant for our birthday lunch celebration. We ordered three different food selections. I ordered the grilled octopus appetizer which was a sizable portion and very good. We also ordered the Shrimp Scampi which was also sizable portion and also very good. The other dish was a Pasta in a brown sauce. This restaurant has been always a good choice for me when visiting Stamford.

Should have read reviews before going there on Sat. Food was not like it was before all the changes. Food was alright and way over price for the quality! We order the Bake Hot Antipasto for 4 people not realizing it said 12pp(4 person minimum). We ate about half of what was there and found that the Mussels were rancid! Told the waiter and had him smell them. He said he was sorry and left without taking the platter away! When we get the bill, we were surprised to find that we were charged $ 48.00 for the Bake Hot Antipasto. We told the waiter and he said I’m sorry again and took the bill and reduced it by $ 15.00! Should have taken the whole $ 48.00 off the bill because we could no longer eat the food on the platter. I will not be going here anymore and will not recommend Eclisse to anybody!

What a disappointment this restaurant has turned into. When my family first started dining at Eclisse(before the current Indian owners) the food was consistently good, the service was always good and the take out was great. The few times I have experienced it since it has resurrected with new ownership, the food is nothing to write home about, the service is horrible and forget ordering take out unless you want to make two trips EVERY time you place an order. They screw your order up EVERYSINGLETIME. For the money they charge in this place, the food should taste like you are eating at Sardis in NY. $ 100 for Fettuccinni Alfredo, Veal Marsala and Rigatoni with Asparagus and Sausage TAKEOUT. These people should put away their magic carpets and wear masks like the lone ranger!

I hosted an event here recently. It was a complete and utter nightmare. Totally understaffed on day of event despite multiple conversations to set expectations. Manager is argumentative and extremely unprofessional; virtually impossible to work with, does not listen, and is more interested in being right than doing what’s right. Food was ok but cannot recommend to anyone given the stress and ultimate outcome. Think long and hard if you are considering hosting an event here as you will regret it if you do.

So disappointing! We remember Eclisse of years past. However, we keep trying it in hopes it will work out the kinks. Unfortunately tonight is the last time. We decided to sit in the restaurant instead if the bar. Tough decision because there was no one in the restaurant. Figured we’ll have a quite dinner. We ordered the calamari. The waiter gives us a family style order. Never asked, just gave 2 people a family style order. Why? To make money in a failing restaurant! We mention it to the waiter but nothing was said. We ordered dinner. Food was good. Ordered after dinner drink. Lemoncello was $ 11 for a shot. No wonder no one is in there ! Go somewhere else! So many better restaurants! Villa Italia, Remos, Peliccis, Cotto, etc…

The menu says chicken parm comes with pasta; however, it does not. $ 20 for very average chicken with red sauce and cheese, not worth it.

Disappointing experience at Eclisse. Atmosphere is quite nice and we were hopeful that the dining experience would be great. Unfortunately, our waiter was a disaster — extremely rude and inefficient. Server quite upset with my request that my food come hot and was not helpful at all. As a matter of fact, he lashed out at me verbally and was quickly replaced by Daniela who took over our table. Thank goodness. She was absolutely delightful — helpful, kind and generous. Even gave us dessert and biscotti as a perk to assuage the terrible service. But my veal marsala was awful — tasted like shoe leather and the marsala wine sauce was congealed and awful. Salad had been sitting in the refrigerator for hours and was ice cold and not great. Never again. Sorry, Daniela you were great but unable to counteract bad food and initial service.

The manager of the restaurant was extremely rude to the host and hostess of a private party I recently attended. The service was poor and guests left before the celebration cake was served. When we asked him to box a few leftovers(for the host) he said«we don’t do that for private parties.» Unless he was preparing to reuse the food for other diners, he would choose waste over customers. I will NEVER return.

«Food and service great. Until it came to coffee, The family asked for regular coffee, only to find they did not have regular coffee? Was told they ran out? Knowing there is an excellent food store across the street where they have a selection of coffee from around the world told the waiter this who failed to communicate this to management? Also finding that the restaurant has free apps for happy hour until 7, we were never offered any and paid for ours?(had a 6:30 dinner) Knowing I had a travel time of over an hour to get home I did go to good old reliable dunkin on the way home for my regular coffee? This was the response from mgt: Hello Kenny., my name is Lorena San Martin i am the manager at Eclisse Restaurant, i want to start by thanking you for making the time to give us your feedback, we appreciated it. i sincerely appologized for the lack of communication in regards to the happy hour appetizers, but unfortunately we no longer do complimentary appetizers since a few months ago, we decided to change that, but feel free to stop by again and i will make sure everyone is on the same page this time, and i will deffinetely have coffee in the house. Thanks» Just to let everyone know they still advertise free appetizers are still advertised on their website? So who is kidding who?

Same food, same bad service. Returned to Eclisse for a family graduation dinner. The waiter was pushy and tried to add dishes to the order that the host did not ask for. Nobody came by to refill drinks and dinner was not served until 30 minutes after we ordered. On the upside, the décor is updated and the food seemed slightly improved than my previous visit. But man oh man, this place needs a friendlier waitstaff.

I went here for happy hour. The food was tasty but over salted. The drinks were weak and I am not sure that my bartender was properly trained. She ran out every few minutes for a smoke and forgot where she left off.

I’m quite disappointed to be writing this review, but unfortunately I am doing it because I wish someone else had done it before my family and friends had decided to meet there again for dinner after having moved away from the area several years ago. Eclisse used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Stamford area. I had my graduation dinner there and it was always a treat and pleasure to go. So when my family was back in town visiting we asked our large group of friends to meet us there. While the restaurant looked just about the same, the food and service were hardly what I remembered. To start things off, we attempted to order a bottle of wine, were told «I’m not really sure if we still have it», to which we responded, «Would you mind checking to see?», to which she responded, «Yes. Just pick something else.» Slightly confused by her response we chose a different bottle. She returned with the wrong bottle(a different grape than we had specified) and we pointed out it was incorrect and were powerfully chastised for saying she was wrong. She raised her voice and repeatedly told us that she had in fact brought the right bottle because it was the same maker. After a bit of arguing, she finally brought us the first bottle we had asked for, but again the wrong grape. Same label, wrong grape. A bit more arguing and we finally got the(overpriced) Malbec we had asked for. Next the food came. Almost all of which was disappointing, and some of it nearly inedible. Everyone at the table didn’t really know what to say as dish after dish of cold, off-tasting food came out. I still cannot understand how our food came out cold when there were only four other tables(of two apiece) in the restaurant with a large serving staff. Perhaps the best thing we ate was the fried calamari, which was clearly frozen. We each at a meager portion, took home the rest and threw it out as soon as we saw a trash can. The meal was expensive. Not Boulud Sud expensive, but pricey. The quality was abysmal and essentially unacceptable. I would never recommend this newly named«Tango Grill» to anyone. Not even those with low standards. You can do far better in the immediate area with little to no effort. Stamford is full of good restaurants with great food and good service. Do not waste your time or money here. You will likely be disappointed. As our entire 10 person party was. So disappointed that we hardly ate anything or said anything about it until we got into our cars separately. None of us could understand how the restaurant we all knew and loved could have fallen so far. I can without a doubt say that the new and improved Eclisse has provided me with the WORSTMEAL I HAVEHADINMEMORY. So steer clear and give your business to someone who deserves it. Hell, go to dairy queen, you will be so much happier.

Tango Grill FKS Eclisse — Is very, very good Some of the most recent reviews are either wrong, or there has been a fine upgrade in service and food quality in the past four weeks. Lyn and I have weekly«date nights» where we try very hard to go to restaurants where we have never dined. Tango Grill has great décor, fine service and excellent food. We started with a Tuna Tartare on top of mango cut to the same size in a sprightly sauce. Lyn was delighted with it. I had thin sliced Chorizo and Figs served warm in a wine reduction sauce. This was followed by a skirt steak well-seasoned and cooked exactly to order. The high point was a Mixed Grill that included four different kinds of steak and Spanish sausage. Every piece of meat was rare in the center, tender and well-seasoned. The US-Portugal World Cup match was playing in the bar and you could hear when we scored and the disappointment when Portugal did. This simply added to the steak house ambience. If we ever run out of restaurants to try, we will dine here again.
