We are two guys from out of town(Houston Texas). We have friends that said La V is a great place to eat. Well I can say it is a nice place. The food portions were a bit small for the price. Needless to say I left there still hungry. We had to stop to get dessert some where else. Time to talk about the waiter(Alexis). Alexis can only work one time at a time. Alexis spent more time talking about his apartment and other things in his life. While all of the other customers suffer waiting on their glass to be refilled or waiting on their food to arrive. I believe Alexis should treat all his customers equally.

I had the LA V vermicelli and it was fantastic. The atmosphere and service was wonderful. I will definitely be returning!

Delicious! I had the lemongrass steak sandwich AND the short ribs because I couldn’t decide between these recommendations from the server. The sandwich was spectacular. One of the best over ever had. The short ribs were good, with a savory sweet sauce.

Very flavorful although some dishes heavy on the MSG; grilled meats. It doesn’t cause headache(It’s been proven.) but for some people, it can definitely cause major stomachache if eaten on and empty stomach.

The«gluten free» Phở is not gluten free. Both times my wife(who has celiac) has eaten it, it has made her sick. Additionally, the staff that has waited on me for my to go orders were completely indifferent to me even though I left a tip both times. Will not be eating here again.

Went here on a late Saturday night for something different. Thoroughly enjoyed the salmon vermicelli bowl($ 11.40). It was so refreshing with mint leaves and cucumbers. Plenty of noodles and veggies plus a nice sized piece of perfectly cooked salmon. There was a sweet little girl playing piano on the outdoor part of the restaurant. Bathrooms were clean and the indoor part of the restaurant is really nice with dim lighting and plenty of seating. I went home with leftovers and they were just as good the next day! I’ll be back

This is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Pete. The Phở soup is really good and the appetizers are totally worth the money(pretty small but delicious). The Phở soups are about $ 12 but the portions are big enough to share. I also love their veggie-tofu fresh rolls, that peanut dressing is so good! Located right on Central Avenue, street parking, and the service is very good. The only downside are the boba teas and Vietnamese iced coffee. My coffee was way too sweet, I could not drink it, and my boba tea was very thick, also sweet. I would skip the drinks next time.

Stumbled on this modern little gem, and the timing couldn’t have been better, as I was super craving phở and couldn’t seem to locate a good one. We actually came to go to The Mango Tree, but one glance at that joint, and we realized it was totally devoid of guests while this place was packed full. And you know a full house means the food is great. The decision was easy. I had the house specialty«V» phở, my dad had the won ton soup and an egg roll, and my son had a big sliced beef phở. The broth was amazing, it came with fresh basil, bean sprouts, lime, culantro(strange and medicinal herb w/dandelion type leaves), cilantro and hot chili oil at my request. It was served with thin rice noodles. I’m a bit of a phở snob, and it was really good! The fresh lemonade was squeezed in house and a delightful treat. I also had hot tea which was perfect. The service was a delightful as the food was, pleasantly. It’s rather rare for that to occur, so I was pleased. The host was jovial, handsome and enthusiastic(always a plus), and the server was equally as attentive.

I’ve been here twice: once for dinner, and once for lunch. The dinner was a very standard and enjoyable meal. The lunch was a bit weirder, but still delicious. La V is a Vietnamese Fusion restaurant on Central Ave with a small outdoor dining area and a modern, but relatively bare inside. The décor is a little eccentric, made obvious by the weird wall clock they have at the back of the restaurant, but it all flows well together and fits with the energy they’re putting out. My service has been mixed. My first time there, the waiter was perfectly average, got us our food quickly, and wasn’t very talkative. The second time there, a different waiter was very talkative and fun and friendly, but maybe a little too much so, as he was too distracted to get my order right, and ended up making me feel a little awkward after I ended up ordering a rather large sandwich. The food here has so far been unquestionably good. I’ve had phở, a bahn mi, and one of the fish entrees, and have been very happy with the results every time. At some point I would like to try one of their smoothies, because their flavor options look awesome. The most disappointing food item I’ve gotten was probably the bahn mi, where the meat was a little dry, and when my boyfriend got a vietnamese coffee, which ended up being a prepackaged coffee drink from the fridge. The price is a little bit high for the experience, not unfairly so, but just a few dollars more than I would want to spend for a good but not outstanding time. And because of that, La V doesn’t jump into my head as a place to go as often as it maybe could. But all in all, a very tasty and satisfying place to drop in for a quick dinner or lunch! If you’re wandering the area trying to think of a place to go, you won’t be disappointed here.

We came for lunch and loved the option to sit outside because we had our dog with us. We had an excellent experience, sampling a frozen boba tea concoction, vermicelli noodle bowl and phở. Everything was very good and I especially appreciated the freshness. Can’t wait to return!

The food is decent but the service is absolutely terrible every time. This is my 3rd time trying to like this place but I believe this is it. Three of us were seated and asked for our drinks but we were waiting on 2 more people so we got our drinks and waited but was never asked if was wanted anything while we waited(I wanted egg rolls) but then was never re approached until about 5 minutes after our other 2 guests joined. We ordered our food which was decent but overpriced– however, trendy for downtown St Pete. The service was a absolutely terrible. We were never once given refills on our beverages. We were never checked on. We never saw our server again. Our plates were cleared and we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else(we wanted the red velvet cake) but instead we waited for 15 minutes or so before we finally had to go hunt down our server and ask for the check. The place wasn’t that busy, as it was Sunday night.

This was probably my 4th visit to LA V, the other visits were good but this one was great. Many many moons ago, I frequented Thuey’s Bahn MI shop on 34th st. This is where I had my first Bahn MI, and my first taro Boba and fell in love with both. So when I heard she opened up a restaurant dt, I was excited for her and for a Vietnamese restaurant to open up a lot closer to my house. On this visit we had a delicious meal and great wine suggestions. I wish I wrote the name of wine down because it was really good. OK back to the food, we started off with the pork belly bun, ordered 2 bowls of Phở, one version without meat since we had a vegatarian with us, and 2 of the chicken noodle dishes. The buns were great, pork belly cooked perfectly with wonderful seasoning. The Phở had a delicious broth, clean and full of flavor and our chicken dish was full of deliciousness. Great amount of chicken in the dish and there were a lot of Vietnamese flavors… yum. All of our dishes were plentiful, we had leftovers to take home for the next day, that’s always a plus. We had lovely food, great service and delicious wine. The night was a winner.

Place is FANTASTIC! Spring rolls, sake, chicken wings, smoothies, wontons, all were delicious! Service very good. We decided to sit outside yesterday evening. Everything was perfect. Prices are very reasonable! Our first time here. Will recommend to all our friends. Two thumbs up!

Would have given a 2.5 and mainly because of service which seemed to have checked out the night we were there. On more than one occasion we had to confirm our order with the waitress who didn’t write down our order as she came back to ask us what we ordered. Clearly she should think of writing it down because our appetizer never came. Granted, we weren’t charged for it after we asked what happened to it, which was blamed on another table getting it. The food itself was okay, sliced beef phở was decent. My husband had the chicken banh mi which also wasn’t anything extraordinary. To add to the less than stellar service, the server from the kitchen brought out our dishes and managed to knock over my entire glass of water on me as he tried to set down my plate. Thankfully it was cold water and not hot soup, but clearly the staff needs to pay more attention when they are working. Being a visitor in this area I’d stay away if I were looking for a place to eat.

Yum!!! Love me some soup on a hot 90 degrees day sitting outside fanning myself. This place is way groovy and was packed on a Wednesday afternoon around 1:00 — 2:30PM. We sat outside because apparently I like sweating and it was very loud and crowded inside. Our server was super cute, friendly, and had grool tattoos. I got the tofu rice noodle soup which was da bomb. It was huge and had lots of scrum veggies in it and came with a really large side of all the cool fixins. Basil, mint, bean sprouts, jalapeños, limes, dandelion root, and a lot of everything. The soup was hot, plentiful, and loaded with deliciousness. My wonderful angel best friend got the seafood phở and I do believe he was super diggin on it. Yum yum yum, will certainly return and I think it is extra cool they are open super late night on the weekends!

I’ve been wanting to go to this place for some time. Curious as to what it would offer, compared to the P. Park variety of Viet restaurants. First of all, a much better view. Especially if you get seats right up front. It’s cleaner and more poshly decorated. Most will say, the better the decorations, the worse the food. Well, that’s what my mom says about Thai restaurants! Not so about La V. Their version of the spring roll was delicious and on point. The variety of noodle soups was great, too. Who knew there was more to life than phở? Downside: for a petite Asian female, those front seats are a little big. My feet couldn’t reach the ground. I’m talking about the wraparound couches. So I had to sit on the edge the whole time. I don’t like my feet dangling, so I gave up on the back support. I’d rather have both. Both my husband and I felt like the tables were slanted, too. Secondly, those front wraparound couches mean you will get very nice and cozy with strangers at nearby tables, and you will hear every word they say if they’re being drunk and boisterous. At 6 in the evening. See how much I’ve turned down? I’ll admit it too. Interestingly– I was served the fermented fish paste as a side to my noodle soup. I had seen it many times before, but never had it. I determined that I didn’t like it so much. Eh, I wasn’t brought up with it. DTSP is a far stretch, but I would definitely come back if I was in the area again. I would just prefer better seats!

Very impressed by this fusion restaurant! I came in search of a delicious Vietnamese chicken salad, and I found it. The Lemongrass chicken salad was the perfect amount of food for lunch, and came out within 5 minutes of me ordering! The herbs and veggies in the salad were very fresh. The chicken was really incredible; it was tender, juicy, flavorful, and there was just so much of it! It was a very filling portion. I found this place to be incredibly trendy with neat, simple décor and hipster waiters and waitresses. Trendy = me stand out like a sore thumb since I am the least trendy person you will ever meet. I chose the absolute worst place to sit: the first seat at the bar in front of the register. I don’t recommend sitting there, like, ever. Especially if you were like me and dining by yourself. I didn’t realize what a high-traffic zone that seat was! People from other tables were reaching over me to hand over their checks to the cashier, people were walking in off the street to place a to-go order, hovering inches from me at the bar while I chow down on my salad, and the waiters just hanging out by the register, also watching me eat. Besides that bit of awkward, I enjoyed eating here and would definitely come back for that lemongrass chicken.

My most recent visit leaves me questioning why I was such a huge fan the first time. La V is good, but it is not great. This time around I ordered sesame chicken and had the wontons again. The wontons were not great, not bad, but not great. The chicken was not even remotely tender. It all came out so quickly I felt like the chicken must’ve been sitting on a heat plate in the back for a while. Like seriously, the chicken was tough to chew. Added to the disappointment is the fact that we were indoors and there were flies EVERYWHERE. Otherwise, the rice and sauces were tasty. And the service was good.

I called to place my order for pickup and the woman that took my order was very friendly. The order was also ready when I got there. Unfortunately the food itself was not my good. My vermicelli noodle were almost soggy and the meat was really fatty and just no good. I actually didn’t finish my plate. The rest of our order was also no good(banh mi and pork rice dish). Unfortunately I will not be back. Order total for those 3 take out dishes, in case you are interested, was $ 27 after tax.
