A fan now sorely disappointed. Been eating there quite happily for a couple of years now and sadly I think we’ve eaten there for the last time. Our server was new and not fully acquainted with the menu or ordering system. Not her fault and relatively minor, but restaurants the caliber of Cassis don’t let new servers loose without thorough training. Also our favorite drinks from their famed drinks menu were«off» and hastily prepared, even after a remake. Also relatively minor. The deal breaker was the dangerous condition of my mussels dish. The shells were broken into small and large jagged pieces making the entire dish unsafe to eat. Not even the both was safe. Why did no one spot this before this dish left the kitchen? What’s happening Cassis? Are your high standards slipping?

We stopped in for lunch last Friday after checking the menu which offered an array of interesting dishes. Brittany provided excellent service. I had an excellent lentil salad for $ 13.50, and Pat had some fantastic artichoke flat bread for $ 13.50, which she shared with me.

First, let me start out by saying I’m a professional, who just moved from Maryland/DC to downtown St. Petersburg, looking for rental property to buy and to make this vibrant, transitioning city my new home. What I experienced yesterday morning, at Cassis American Brasserie was HIGHLY disappointing and TRAGIC. This is my 2nd review. I know its lengthy, but PLEASEREAD. I will be writing reviews on a regular basis as I NOW see the need for them(Good or bad). This review is one of integrity, and may tackle a sensitive subject. However in the end, it will aid the growth of this establishment and BETTERTHECUSTOMEREXPERIENCEFORALL. I came to this establishment, a month ago and ordered CLASSIC eggs benedict, which is not on their menu, but the waiter said that they can still make it since they use hollandaise for other benedicts. It was HORRIBLE and I should not have ordered«off» menu. The waiter did NOT check on me and my family. Overall it was a bad experience but I contributed it to inexperience, for both the waiter and cook. I did not write a review at that time because I wanted to be fair and give it another shot. YESTERDAYMORNING, I decided to try again but order corned beef hash. I asked if I could sit facing the water and the«GM» said NO since I’m eating alone I have to sit at a table for 2. His tone was HORRIBLE and CONDESCENDING. I then, had to find MYOWN«2 Seater» and went back to the hostess to tell her that I found a spot. I made a HUGE mistake(or was it?) by telling the hostess to tell the«GM» that I was going to write a review this time, if an individual is seated at the table I requested especially since he was so rude about it. Keep in mind ITWASNOTCROWDEDATTHETIME and I was already on edge by how the Manager spoke to me along with my previous experience at this establishment. I do understand the seating arrangement but this was no longer the issue. I then sat at the«2 seater» I found. The«GM» came out, after the hostess told him that I was going to write a review, and he created an AURAOFHOSTILITYSPEAKINGVERYLOUDLY so other patrons could hear using words like: «WEDONTWANTYOUHERE» «WE don’t want you here with your BADATTITUDE»(this because I said I was going to write a review) «You’re bringing BADVIBES to our restaurant» «you’re THREATENING my hostess about writing a bad review…»(There was NO threatening at her, she in fact just told him what I asked her too. Then HE became threatened at the thought of a bad review) His words are NOT my Nature. I WASSOEMBARRASED and embarrassed for him! He used these stereotypical key words(in my opinion) and I felt SO discriminated against but politely, SILENTLY conveyed my sentiments/concerns. HETHENACCUSEDMEOF «PLAYINGTHERACECARD» and asked me to leave. He went to an EXTREMELY unprofessional place and a HORRIBLELINEWASCROSSED. What would make ANYONE, comfortable telling a patron that they’re playing the«RACECARD»…And calling them these horrible«stereotypical» key words. This made me feel UNCOMFORTABLE and STRESSED and I was ready to go. I attempted to DE-ESCALATE the situation telling him«We need to clear the air, speak intelligently, and STOP stereotypically name calling. St Petersburg is now my home and I will be downtown on Beach Drive on a regular bases relaxing, dining, and doing business.» He then cut me off and said«This conversation is over» and proceeded to clean off the table as the waiter had already brought me my water. THISWASHIGHLYUNPROFESSIONAL. I left, walked down Beach Dr and had a wonderful brunch at another establishment. THANKFULLY, I later ran into a Patron who saw the whole thing happen and said he was sorry and that that’s not how St. Pete does things… it’s a small thing don’t worry about it. I appreciated his sentiments, but I feel this is a very BIG thing. I do hope that this establishment re-evaluates how they communicate with people from all backgrounds. TRAINING is definitely needed as this situation was handled POORLY. The fact that this individual, in customer service, felt comfortable speaking to me this way in front of other patrons also concerns me. I have NEVER experienced this type of treatment before and unfortunately had to come to St Petersburg to have such an awful experience. I expect there will be responses, but hopefully one can view this situation from another’s lens. I TRULY hope that the responses will not be covered up with untrue verbiage by this establishment(associates) as it would be unfair to the reader, me, and the integrity of this review. INSTEAD, take it as an opportunity for growth. Unilocal and other venues allow patrons to be able to share their experiences in hopes to make a difference in some way and make the customer experience better… FOREVERYONE! I will continue to add this review to various venues as to hopefully make a difference for the better… and to ensure this NEVER happens again.

Just had lunch there with friends. We had to wait at least 30 minutes although there were plenty of vacant tables inside. The food was good, but the service was horrible and they all seemed more concerned with talking amongst themselves instead of checking on their guests. We had to ask someone to send a server to take our food order and then again to get more beverages. I would NOT go back again.

Very upscale restaurant located right by the busiest street by the water. It is perfect for blunch, whether you dine inside or outside. Our waitress was excellent, she knew the food, drink, and never forget perfect smile. We had kids at our table and she took care if their meal pronto, keeping them quiet… and happy with food. They have some fancy dishes, but the true winner was the egg Benedict with crab cake. It was just done right, even thought it was a little salty but on 85 degree weather December day, the chef made a right call to add extra salt. Interior décor looked perfectly done for the holiday season — I would love to spend the Christmas there, it was just tastefully done. Pricing was what you would expect, portion is just right.

I had the scallops entrée. $ 32 Husband had steak frittes. $ 30 Two cocktails. Total bill came to $ 99 and change, including tip. Entrees were exactly that: just the entrée. No salad. No soup. Food was good. But insanely overpriced for what you get. Won’t be back.

Mediocre. Arrived on a Sunday evening. Our group ordered a variety of food, notably an appetizer Caesar and a meal Caesar. The waiter came back and tossed a salad between two of us. We asked if it was the meal or appetizer. He wouldn’t answer so we repeated the question and said it was for a particular seat. Again we repeated our question and he walked away and told us we shouldn’t have moved(my brother and I had switched places). Whatever. Great start. Pasta — my wife had and said it was quite good. My meal was the meal sized Caesar with chicken($ 22!). And the prep of the salad was disappointing. Basically the romaine lettuce was tossed down, still as a large clump, which not very much dressing on it.(I don’t like a lot of dressing to begin with, but this was even less than I’m comfortable with) . We had to ask several times for drinks, and remind, and then ask other staff to get them. The bread, from the bakery next door, was good. My mother had soup — she described it as good. She also had the Caesar salad. As I write this review I ask her what she thought of it. «The shits,» is her response. The dressing was bland. Overall, 5 of us, and the bill came to $ 165 for two pasta dishes, two soups, 3 salads and some drinks. It’s my first time to this area, so perhaps this place has some sort of long standing reputation that keeps people coming in. Or maybe it’s the location that draw people in. It certainly isn’t the food. And it certainly is not the service.

I am here for brunch and I absolutely love this place. I’m French Canadian and this place is a little slice of home. Downtown St Pete is really becoming such a lovely place. The wait staff are all pleasant and very accommodating.

Brunch was delicious. Service was some of the worst I’ve ever had. I had the smoked salmon and asparagus omelette and she has the quiche of they day(cheddar corn bacon). Both were delicious. I always get the salmon, it’s great. Service is usually slow but Today was horrific! Our actual server was completely absent. We never got silverware and had to ask a busboy. I asked a passing hostess for S&P, she never returned, I retrieved my own. Our waitress did once promise water refills and we ended up asking a manager. We had to ask a passing waiter for a check. We’ve both worked in the service industry and by no means we’re being a pain or out of line. For these kinda prices we don’t expect such crap. We’ll find somewhere else from now on.

Bottom line: ok food and service but super chill brunch spot with high energy patio and semi view of St. Petersburg marina. Service: willing to please but didn’t know what a Cobb salad was. This made communicating what I wanted hard. Resulted in Cesar salad with anchovies): Scene(aesthetic and design): Retro modern New York City classic with mahogany booths. Think The Mob. Vibe(energy and people): Cassis bumps the 50s big band jazz on the patio. People watching is on point and Patio is relaxing. Could pass out… time to move on!

The location is in the heart of the blossoming downtown Beach Drive dining and shops. Came for their Sunday brunch, which in my opinion was good, but overpriced. But look at the location, of course it will be overpriced. They do have a large outdoor seating area which is dog friendly(which was perfect for our dogs that were dining with us) and even had a dog menu, which was my favorite. The waitress even brought us over water bowls for our furry friends.

My partner and I stopped in here for a quick brunch. He had heard great things and they were all absolutely correct. We walked in, and even though it was busy we were seated right away. We opted for outside seating because it was a beautiful day, but inside looked well decorated if a little dark. Then again, they were all decked out for halloween(I love when restaurants do that). Outside was still pretty beautiful; it’s a great view of the park and the bay, and the canopy if umbrellas makes the sun manageable. My partner and I went full-on sweets for brunch, getting the french toast and pancakes. The food was all delicious. Those pancakes, oh my, it was like the delicious combo of pancake, cinnamon roll, and apple crumb cake. The french toast was tasty, but a bit less special. The fresh squeezed orange juice was incredibly tasty as well. The service was pretty good too, 4⁄5 stars. Not especially attentive but our server was busy and our food still got to us nice and quick. The price is a little on the higher side. For the food it’s definitely worth it, but maybe the fresh squeezed juice is a little expensive considering it’s not free refills. I can’t speak to the rest of their offerings, although I saw someone else order a burger and the crab cake benedict and they both looked amazing, so I would bet every option would be a good one. Definitely give this place a try. At least for Brunch, but I think you can trust this place for pretty much anything.

For the most part, the waiters and waitresses are nice. A guy with semi-dyed blonde hair stopped by our table to see how we were doing(I’m assuming he was the manager). Our main waiter, a Hispanic fellow, seemed a bit distressed. He had a straight face with no emotion when he gave us our water. When my mother told him, «We’re ready to order whenever you’re ready.» He ignored her and walked away. We guessed it was because he wasn’t our main waiter or he wasn’t fluent in English. He came back a bit later to take our order. No complaints, maybe he was just having a bad day. The food was okay– typical American food. My sister and I shared crab cake sliders and oysters. They weren’t bad. But the free orange muffins they gave you were AMAZING and we brought some home. The interior is very fancy, so that’s always nice.

This place was bright, airy, and welcoming on a Sunday morning around with a brunch menu that boasts something for every breakfast palate. Our waiter was super congenial and a nice addition to my slow-moving Sunday. He offered us drinks and took our orders adding that we had made wonderful choices and that we wouldn’t be disappointed. He was right! I ordered the brioche French toast with sweet marscapone cheese, strawberries, and bananas. It was amazing. I added a side of crispy bacon because I felt I was missing my usual savory eats. That was good too. The ambience was perfection. I could have swore I was on Miami beach. The restaurant was open to the harbor side where a breeze came through, Gipsy Kings were playing throughout the restaurant, and the staff were straight out of a beautiful Cuban-American dream. The gentleman who brought me my food called me mommy like I love, so I will be back. I miss my roots and was happy to have a taste of it in St. Pete.

I really wish we had something similar to Cassis where I’m from, and even if there was I’m sure it would be a guaranteed 40 minute drive just for brunch. I was in St. Pete’s visiting for the week and my cousin told me this was the spot to stop by downtown, so I did what any other tourist would do and went along with him. We got a table outside because it wasn’t overly hot/humid out yet. The hostess gave us menus and we glanced over them for brunch options. I don’t remember our waiter’s name but he was a more middle-aged gentleman and he did a phenomenal job at acquainting us to the menu. We started off with half a dozen oysters and the cheese plate, and for entrees I got the smoked salmon benedict while my cousin ended up with the quiche of the day. They also offered freshly squeezed pulp orange juice which we both agreed to get. The oysters and cheese plate came out first and were both super fresh. Nothing like oysters at 11am, right? The combination of the freshly baked bread and some of the cheeses were insanely delicious, especially with the brie. Not long after, our brunch entrees came out and looked amazing. My benedict looked too good to actually eat, which was unfortunate because I was rather hungry. The flavor combinations from the egg, the hollandaise sauce, the cream cheese, and the smoked salmon was flawless. If I could eat this everyday, I totally would. My cousin’s quiche was pretty amazing as well, having notes of ham, spinach, and other greens baked inside with a perfect texture. Cassis is a great place to stop by in downtown St. Pete and hopefully next time I’m in down I’ll have the pleasure of coming by again.

Nice atmosphere, good service, decent food. Poor execution. This is review is solely based on the brunch btw. Mother’s Day turned out ok, made reservations, for whatever reason they could only offer outside seating. It was a bit hot and the shade was limited. Hate to imagine what it would’ve been like, had we had showers that afternoon. Anyway, once seated, you come to find out you had to wait in line which ran all the way outside. This felt like an eternity, the line was very sluggish, took at least 45 minutes to get through the line, grab your plate and head back to the table. The servers were kind enough hand out water to everyone. Having to stand outside in the heat was not fun at all. We were all sweating nonstop. Inside the restaurant felt very tight. Too many people trying not to bump into one another. There were a few close calls. Seemed like they should have opened it up a lot more to allow people the freedom to move around and get their own food. Maybe it’s better for a regular night out, wouldn’t recommend going here during a special holiday such as Mother’s Day, there are better options.

This review is just based on the Bakery. We stopped by here and tried various of their baked items. The chocolate truffles, sugar cookies, and two of their specialty mini cakes. One was made of black berries and the other was chocolate. The place is super cute with plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor. It’s really an extension of a neighboring restaurant and a bit more casual. Service was good, and sitting outside in the nice weather was truly enjoyable. The baked goods themselves to me were just average though. You know that sometimes you’ll try a dessert and your eyes grow wide and you’re like: «YAUZA!!» Doing back flips in the air, singing opera… It was ok though. I would drop by again though, the outdoor seating is relaxing.

I throughly enjoyed the food at this place. It was all delicious. We starters with the calamari and the buffalo chicken flatbread. Both very very good. I got the sirloin and Brussel sprouts for dinner and enjoyed that very very much. The Brussel sprouts also had bacon on them– so hard to pass that up. The dessert menu was extensive and I got a caramel and ice cream dish that was very delicious– but too large for one person. Now I gave it three stars because we got sat at a very odd table. Like a table they drug up from the basement. And our sever never once told us his name and when I came to us being ready to order or wanting another round of drinks he never asked we had to tell. And when we asked for our third round of drinks you would have thought we were out of line. I highly doubt all servers were this odd, but ours(nameless man with very tight cross necklace) was a bit odd.

I’m not sure where to start with this one… We made a last minute dinner reservation. We were first offered a tight table right by the hustle and bustle of the front door. We asked form somewhere else and all was well. There was confusion over the bottle of wine we ordered — we expected something different and sent it back, which lead to the sommelier coming out to explain why we were wrong which bothered my fellow guests which tainted the rest of the service. To top it off we were initially charged for both bottles and had to have the bill corrected. Putting that aside — the ambiance was cozy and festive for the holidays. The cocktails were enjoyable. The food was fine but overpriced. If I were local, I may go back because of the location and maybe to try brunch.

Whenever I go to St Pete, this bakery is a must! If you don’t stop here… you must not like baked goods… I haven’t had anything I didn’t like here. From the croissants to macaroons to tarts to cakes… they have seasonal items depending on what time of year you stop in. Just check out the pictures! Also loved the breakfast croissant too. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The décor is awesome. Was just there near the xmas season and very well decked out! Very festive! And since its Florida, there is outdoor seating. Great for people watching. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Every time I come it’s a great time and I surely will be back!
