Pad Thai that you’d swear was made with barbeque sauce. If you like that style, go for it. I couldn’t find the decent entrée I had on their online menu, chicken with vegetables, rice and fried egg. Get that instead for sure.

I ordered the crispy pork with chinese broccoli, and egg rolls for lunch this afternoon, and it was awful! The egg rolls were soggy and flavorless, the«crispy» pork lacked any kind of crisp, and there seemed to be more american broccoli than chinese broccoli. I asked for it to be medium spicy, and it lacked any spice at all. To make matters worse it came with no rice. Bleh, bleh, bleh. I will never order food from here again. I will stick with On’s.

Not sure why anyone thinks this place is any good. First time trying it tonight and had it delivered via BiteSquad. Cream cheese wontons: not sure what they filled it with, but it was more like the frosting on toaster strudel than cream cheese. It was sweet and had the consistency of melted frosting. Gross. Fresh spring rolls: they are generously big, but only filled with lettuce and not much else. A few pieces of pork, a couple pieces of shrimp, and I think I had one basil leaf. Flavorless and disappointing. Green Curry w/Chicken: ordered medium spice and it was almost too spicy to enjoy. Well, couldn’t really even dig into it because the dish was generally greasy and the chicken came with chunks of skin and bone; not appetizing. Pad Thai: this is their signature dish? Really? Ordered this medium spice as well and there was no spice whatsoever. It was overly greasy, had a disturbing sweet taste, and again was not appetizing at all. Very, very disappointing. So, for $ 25 we got a lot of food that is going in the trash. Never again.

The location of this restaurant is located in a building that seems to be mostly empty. Going here to pick up food confusing since one both side there were about 3 more Thai restaurants. The restaurant itself was empty when we arrive to pick up our food on a Saturday around 7ish. Definitely looks like a mom and pop joint. The ease of calling and putting in an order was very easy. You also have an option of placing your order thru their website. The food was prepared fairly quickly(might be due to lack of people in the restaurant). Getting home and looking at the pad Thai and pad see aew was average at first. Lots of soy beans on the pad Thai and lots of Chinese broccoli on the pad see aew. And not a lot of chicken nor beef in both of the dishes. Needless to say I was hoping for more but for 18ish bucks for both dishes. I would probably try it again but early in the day to see if there is a difference in quality of the food. Hopefully this was a fluke and it will be better next time.

I went to Royal Bangkok to try their boat noodles about a year ago. I have to say, I was thrilled to find this scarce treat in the middle of St Paul. However, the boat noodles were just mediocre. Perhaps their other food is better.

Really good. Pad Thai is better than 2 – 3 other Thai places in the area I’ve tried. Would definitely do again. I did take out. The interior looks/smells a little funny to me. But it’s endearing and very traditional. Family-owned. Hard-working bunch. Go support them.

I went to Royal Bangkok and ordered the Red Thai Curry with chicken. The curry was flavorful and very spicy(can order different levels of spicy). Also, the portion size was huge– expect leftovers unless you plan to share your meal with someone else. I also ordered the Thai Tea, which I would highly recommend. My friend ordered the Sesame Chicken(which I think is just a summer special), and that was also excellent– crispy and full of flavor.

My boyfriend and I were looking to try a new restaurant for lunch. We researched Unilocal and finally decided on this place after all the incredible reviews we read. We wanted to try the 5 entrée lunch option for only $ 3.99! Turns out they recently increased the price to $ 4.99… I mean, still cheap! We were okay with that. I tried the Pad Thai, the Pad See Ew(both noodle dishes come without meat), Red Curry, Carmelized Pork and Eggs, and Lemon Grass Beef. Their portions weren’t small or big, just regular. My boyfriend chose chicken wings for one of his options and only got one wing with that option. All of the dishes also come with no added spice, but they have a spice table at the end that you can add to your food yourself. I was super excited to try the food, especially considering that Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are some of my favorite dishes! …I was actually quite disappointed. The Pad Thai had an EXTREMELY strong fish sauce taste. I actually love fish sauce! But in my opinion, that’s now how Pad Thai is supposed to taste. It wasn’t good. The Pad See Ew noodles were very chunky and had minimal sauce to it. The Chinese broccoli added into it was very tough and also didn’t have any taste to it. The Lemon Grass Beef also wasn’t anything special. I got about 3 beef slices with my portion and the rest was full of stir-fried onion, red, and green peppers in a very typical Asian stir-fry sauce. I didn’t taste the«lemon grass» flavor either. The Carmelized Pork and Eggs option was pretty good, and so was the curry! Out of the dishes I chose, those were my favorite two, but even at that, they weren’t jaw-dropping delicious. just very mediocre. Overall, I thought this place was very affordable and the worker was extremely friendly. But nothing in particular stood out to me and nothing tasted that great. This definitely would not be my first choice in returning if I’m looking to eat Pad Thai/Pad See Ew again.

This place is freaking delicious! And I’m speaking for the price as well. You cannot beat their lunch buffet special so I can reccomend coming during the time 11am-1:30pm before it runs out. It’s hidden amongst a building between many other restaurants so I can see why it goes unnoticed. It’s not an upscale restaurant, more so of an authentic Thai restaurant where it gives a cozy feel regardless if its empty or hearing other people talk amongst eachother. The servers are attentive, and the owners of the restaurant deserves recognition for their hard work. I’ll definitely continue being a loyal customer. Keep it up!

This place is amazing! I agree with all the other positive posts. Also, so if the bathroom isn’t up to standard par; never been to Thailand then huh? :)

Very weird. We went for Saturday lunch; ordered the calamari with every intention of completing with a full lunch. We never saw the calamari. After 20 minutes of sipping ice water. So we went to the Bangkok deli which was 2 minutes away by foot and had a fabulous spicy duck salad along with 2 spring rolls, brought to our table in about 8 minutes(we were on a schedule). The Royal Bangkok server spent most of his Royal Time behind a(cheap) jewelry counter. Good bye.

We got takeout. Sorry my pictures are not as pretty as they have on their facebook page, which is how we ended up trying this place because the pictures on their facebook look so good. We got: Fresh Spring Rolls Stir Fried Beef with Ginger Sweet Basil Chicken Fried Rice Cambodian Beef Salad Lao-Style Papaya Salad Boiled Chicken Grilled Pork Salad Seafood Clear Noodle I loved loved loved the grilled pork salad and the Cambodian beef salad… LOVEDIT!!! The seafood salad, boiled chicken, papaya salad and fried rice were delicious. Since everything was so flavorful(yes even the boiled chicken was flavorful because of the sauce it comes with) the stir fried beef was kind of sad… flavor wise, but that’s only cause everything else was so so tasteful. The ginger beef had plenty of whole straw mushrooms and baby corn, and if we hadn’t gotten so much food and had just the beef, it would of shined just was bright, but because I stuffed myself full of yummy Thai and Cambodian salads the beef stir fry will be happy leftovers.

Hubba, hubba, Hubba! Royal Bankok is an amazing restaurant. If you are looking for delicious authentic thai food, look no further Unilocalers. Royal Bangkok is family owned and operated. This adds to an incredibly welcoming and delightful atmosphere. The recipes were passed down from generation to generation and you can tell because they have perfected the art of thai cuisine. I have not ordered a dish that did not blow my mind. The menu has many options and if you are uncertain of what you would like, chat with your waiter. The staff is very helpful and provide great suggestions. I have gone there many times and still will ask for suggestions so I can find another gem dish. Again, you cannot go wrong. So let’s get to the good stuff, the FOOD! Everything is amazing, but here are a list of my favorites. –Chicken wings: The perfect amount of crispy and juicy. –Thai basil fried rice: Amazing, super flavorful, my favorite fried rice ever. –Dried red curry with pork belly: This dish made me think the cook used sorcery because this dish is very unique. The pork belly though in curry remains crispy. My mom eats this dish once a week and she detests eating out. –Pad Thai: I am very selective about my pad thai, but this pad thai is perfect. The correct combination of tangy and sweet. Do you belly and taste buds a favor and try this amazing place.

I really really liked Royal Bangkok I came with my sister and brother on a Sunday so there wasn’t the $ 3.99 lunch special I was hoping for unfortunately. The pricing was still great for everything else on the menu. I usually order the piek sien noodle soup that has shredded chicken in it they also have very good pineapple fried rice. Everything that we have ordered has always been GREAT and extremely a good value. There is a few Similarly named business’s near by this one is next to the closed down vet clinic and the other thai restaurant. The sign is located on the side of the building where there is parking. Seems like its family run with the son being the waiter and the dad being the owner apparently the grandma also does a lot of the cooking to! Very sweet and friendly family. They also are part of the local delivery Bite Squad. My sister lives in St. Paul its very easy to order and tip can be paid when ordering only downside for delivery times depends on your house location ours took about 35min but overall great place will continue eating here and recommending to every I know!

Obsessed with their thai basil chicken fried rice! If you are looking for authentic, fresh, and flavorful thai food, you can stop because it’s right here. The menu is huge… they literally sell every thai food item under the sun. The papaya salad is great too – you can let them know what level sweet/sour/spicy you want it and they will make it to your liking. It’s very rare to find me in the Frogtown area but I always make the trek for Royal Bangkok! I’m serious about the Thai basil fried rice though… it’s the perfect texture, just the right amount of thai basil, and that umami flavor you just can’t describe. I am drooling as I type this. There’s a private parking lot next to the building and the lunch special is redonkoulosly cheap $ 3.99.

Fui la semana pasada! Y waooo!

Time to write a review for this place. Oh boy, where do I begin… so far my favorite place to eat for lunch. Why? Because it is only $ 3.99, people! Wow! I know!!! I am sure you cannot find a place like this in Minnesota, so better get your butt out here! Lately, I have not been cooking at home and when you have a craving for Cambodian/Thai food, you go to Frogtown. The place is located inside a white building across from Bangkok Thai Deli restaurant so make sure you do not get confused. I accidently parked and walked into Bangkok Thai Deli thinking it was the one :( The food is delicious! If you want something spicy, just ask the server for fresh peppers. The lunch special goes from 11:30 to 1:30. You get to pick 5 items from the buffet style for $ 3.99. I got chicken laab, bean thread noodles, papaya salad, chicken stir fry with basil and rice(I guess it is one of the options). The lady who helped me was very friendly, she said this place is owned by a Cambodian/Thai person. It was opened two years ago. If you are planning to bring a big crowd, they have extra seating in the other room. That room is free to reserve for a party. I might have to come back and check their dinner since they have a huge menu. So if you don’t have a car and want cheap food for around $ 5, hop on the light rail($ 1.25 I think) and get off Western ave, head over to Royal Bangkok for their lunch special $ 3.99=$ 4.27 with tax. Nothing to complain about. Enjoy!

I cannot stress enough how CHEAP and GOOD the food is here. $ 3.99 lunch special includes your pick of 5 options. I really like the pad thai, laab, sesame chicken, and crispy pork with Chinese broccoli. I’ve tried the pad see ew and papaya salad as well but they are not my favorite. My boyfriend enjoyed the pad see ew though, so don’t let me deter you from ordering it. Confusingly, there is another restaurant called Bangkok Thai Deli right down the street from them. They are located right before the deli so look out for their sign on the side of the building where the parking lot is located. Once inside, they are located in the back of the building. The restaurant is bigger than expected with plenty of booths and tables. The mother daughter duo that I came across here are pleasant and very friendly. The lunch special starts at 11:30 am so make sure you check them out when you are in the area.

How can you beat a lunch buffet with five choices for under $ 4? And the food is delicious. I’ve been here for lunch three times in the last couple months. It’s cheaper than eating at home(and the food’s better…) I come here on days that I babysit. When it hasn’t been busy, the proprietor will carry my little charge around the restaurant and coo to her while I eat. Décor is nothing, the place is barn-like, in the middle of a little indoor mall with small shops all around. Warning, no A/C in the summer, but hey, I’ll be back again for sure!
