I had the colossal gyro. I know from an Italian place right! It was very good though. Vinnies potatoes were also awesome and loved the pita with tzatziki sauce small place with huge flavor

The thought of a soggy hoggy roll wrapped around sliced meat didn’t sound the most appetizing. But seening Italian beef sandwichs on the food network made me feel like this could be a good idea. I definitely see the draw now. Everything is made in house except the buns. The flavors were prefect. Not bland or overly salty. I would come back again if I wasn’t just driving through. My sister got the gyro and she says it’s the best she’s ever had, so I’d say its pretty decent. Come here and try it you won’t be disappointed.

I tried out Vinnie’s a few weeks ago for the first time. I also waffled between a 4 and a 5 because I really liked this place, and probably will be back. I got the deluxe gyro and absolutely loved the sandwich. Right size, good pita, right amount of toppings, high quality gyro meat(not the imitation garbage you get at some places). The tzatziki had the right level of tanginess and sweetness on top as well. Overall the sandwich hit the spot. The hummus was pretty good as well on the side as well. Will be back!

I had their pasta salad which is by far some of the best I ever had from a restaurant. The chicken souvlaki was amazing! The pita itself was warm and soft with a nice bite. Vinnie’s Greek dressing was so good I asked for more! I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve read the reviews and I’m not sure what all the buzz is about. My boyfriend dragged me here for lunch. He got the Italian beef it was just ok, not much flavor and kind of dry. I need up with the buffalo chicken gyro. Why? Idk I choked. When it came out I couldn’t even try it so I gave it to my bf. It looked like subway chicken with iceberg lettuce and crystal hot sauce on it. No thanks. I also attempted to order a Greek salad but when we asked what kind of lettuce it was made with… we got a deer in headlights stare. Soooo anyway This place is just not for me.

Being born and raised in Chicago, best beef since I’ve been in St. Louis! This«IS» a place that would be in Chi-Town when you walk in, along with the aroma of fresh roasted beef. Bread is fresh. staff takes your order right away… For sure I’ll be back !! Glad I found this gem in the rough.

I visited Vinnie’s for the first time last week and WOW, I can’t wait to go back!!! The food was absolutely delicious!!! I ordered a gyro, fried potatoes and had the gooey butter cake for dessert, which I was told is made from scratch each day. I’m from Chicago and this place reminds me of all the family owned Italian beef places from back home that I MISS dearly!!! I just bought a house in the area and can tell I will definitely be a weekly regular! The staff was so warm and friendly as well! I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!!! Top notch!!!

I had the pastrami Reuben(because the corned beef was still in the oven). It was huge and delicious. There will be enough for lunch tomorrow… if it lasts that long. Husband had the Italian sausage sandwich and liked it very much. We split the potatoes and thy were good. We will be back to try another sandwich.

I’m not much of a writer and it’s not often I feel the need to write a review, but… I really enjoy Vinnie’s. Let’s break it down : Seating: it’s a small place with about 7 tables and a small covered patio. Simple, nothing special but great for a quick bite. Food: always good, I’ve gone at least 15 times and I’m never disappointed. The owner is always there and always makes sure you’re a happy customer. Plus, he’s just a really nice, friendly, cool guy. Portions: even the largest appetites won’t leave hungry here, the portions are rather large. They will also cater to your diet needs, like make it without the bread for the low-carb-ers. Also, they do catering. We had them cater our daughters first birthday, everyone complimented us on the food. I’d say give it a try.

Solid food for the price. I’ve never actually had a meal inside the restaurant and have only done take-out, but the staff is always fantastic, the food tasty, and the portions generous. I can’t ask for more than that!

Not sure how I’d never heard of this place before, but I went there on Thursday and had a great roast beef sandwich and bowl of beef barley soup. The bread was nice and soft and the beef has a great flavor with just a little bit of spice to it. The guy who introduced me to this place wouldn’t shut up about how good the Friday shrimp po boy was, so we went back there the very next day for a couple of those. Damn, that was a really good shrimp sandwich. There was no skimping on ingredients for sure. I had the same kind of soup with my shrimp sandwich as I’d had the day before, and then washed it down with a roast beef sandwich because I’m a disgusting pig, but man, those are really good sandwiches. Check the place out. It’s good stuff.

Delicious! First time there, split the Italian Beef and the Blackened Turkey special. The Italian Beef was amazing, a huge plate of food with the bread as a carrier for the other food. The turkey was good, a creamy spicy sauce with lots of cheese and meat. The potatoes were reason enough to go again. Crusted with Parmesan and onions, I’ll have stinky breath for a week. Love it.

I’ve had Vinnie’s Italian Beef and Gyros bookmarked for some time but this past Saturday a friend recommended them. Come Monday I was there for dinner. I let the gentleman behind the counter(Vinnie maybe?) know it was my first time there and asked what to get; ‘Italian Beef or Gyro?’ With little hesitation he replies«Italian Beef». So I obliged and got it with everything. It was great, the small was HUGE but I ate all of it. They have canned soda for purchase, bottled, and free water. It’s also BYOB! They have daily specials as well. My friend got the daily special which was Salsiccia Sliders and Potato Salad. He gave it two thumbs up. I overheard someone in the kitchen talking about baking cookies and before I know it some hot chocolate chip cookies show up gratis. Vinnie’s is definitely in my rotation now… :)

How I haven’t reviewed Vinnies is a mystery. Been here a half dozen times or so. If you notice, two of my favorite things are in the name of the restaurant and I don’t mean Vinnie, though he’s a good guy. Italian Beefs and Gyros, just added dogs, but haven’t tried that yet. Canned soda, but they have an icemaker, cups and straws at the back of the room. Both namesake items are stellar and their side fried potatoes are great. Love it.

Hands down the best Italian Beef in Saint Louis, it’s the perfect combination of flavor! I will say if you are not making a mess eating this sandwich you are doing it wrong, this is a messy masterpiece loaded with thinly sliced beef, cheese, peppers and onions served on top of a crusty bread dipped in juice. The sandwich itself is huge and reasonably priced. Another must is the Fried Potatoes, which are more than enough to share. Service is friendly and prices are fair, seating is limited however its more than accommodating for a quick meal.

I’m stuck between 4 and 5 on this one. On the 4-star side, the Italian beef I ordered was good but not exactly what I would call Chicago-style. On the 5-star side of the equation was the gyros they let me try. The Italian beef sandwich was beyond generously sized. It was freakin’ huge! The bread had been slightly dipped in the gravy but wasn’t drenched or soggy. The giardiniera was house-made and really good. Spicy without being overpowering. Sadly, what should have been the star of the show just wasn’t able to keep up with the rest of the sandwich… the beef was a little dry, a little under-seasoned and just a little better than average. That said, a little work on the recipe and possibly a change in the beef suppliers and they will be up there with the best you find in Chicago. That said, their gyros was far and away the best I’ve had south of I-80. These guys are using Kronos gyros cones and carving the meat as it develops that amazing bit of crust that really brings out the full flavor of the meat and associated seasonings. They are also making their own tzatziki in house and it has the perfect balance between tartness contributed by the Greek yogurt and the slight sweetness of ripe cucumbers. Add in a dash of salt and it is exactly right and pairs beautifully with the meat. Sadly, I cannot comment on their approach to the pita component but my money is on them getting it right also. I will absolutely, positively order their gyros the next time I come here for lunch and quite probably every time thereafter. Also, get the potato things — they are great!

Oh man… I’m seriously crushin’ hard right now on this place… It’s been forever since I’ve had a Chicago beef sandwich, so when I saw the pictures and read the raves, I knew I had to have it. So I placed a to-go order for a regular-sized sandwich($ 6.50), along with a side of spinach rice($ 2.25) and an order of baklava($ 3.25). The last 2 items were for Unilocal research purposes only, I assure you… When I saw the sandwich, my first reaction was«Damn, that’s a regular size?». This sandwich is BIG, with tons of beef and peppers. It is moist and delicious. And messy. I would suggest eating this sandwich in the restaurant rather than to-go…it does not travel that well. Next the spinach rice… I had no idea what to expect, but this stuff was awesome. Perfectly cooked rice mixed w/spinach, tomatoes and a nice seasoning. It was warm and surprisingly hearty. And a huge portion for the price. Highly recommended. A previous review recommended the house-made baklava, so I went for it. It is AMAZING, both in construction and in taste. The rose-syrup is so flavorful and really takes this over the edge. The flaky crust, the crunchy nuts… this is absolutely perfect. By far the best baklava I’ve ever had. Wow. I got to share a few words w/Vinnie(who seems to do everything around there) and he’s a really nice and friendly guy. He showed me some cherry turnover he’d made earlier… it is clear that he is passionate about great food. Oh.and the place smells awesome! The moment you step in, you’ll know you made the right choice.
