Seriously wtf?! I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and got some very very black quiche looking thing. Burnt to all hell. Tasted disgusting. Spent a fortune. Just say no to this place!

The good: croissant, eggs(PERFECT), the ambience and the sweet potato hash. THEBAD: Coffee(horrible bitter taste, like it has been burnt or something), steak(much more like a roast and bitter as well), slowness in service and the bacon.

Wow, best breakfast in STL. We had the portabella mushroom egg combination for breakfast. The sweet potato hash was unbelievably good. Shawn, the chef, was amazing and came out to share his story & how he prepared the goods we were enjoying. Great guy and a great business, I’m looking forward to coming back here! I love the order @ counter and have a seat anywhere concept for breakfast. It works so great for a big group.

So this was my first time coming here and won’t be my last. The food was really good. I had the meatloaf which was yummy and had some leftover for later. Always a bonus. The cost to proportion ratio was great. We got a lot of food for little price too. Also, their lattes were delisious. I had the pumpkin spice one and loved it. It was so good. I would get it again. My friends love their food too. We all agree to come back here again.

So glad this place opened, because I can’t say enough good things. For starters, an Incredibly friendly staff. The coffee and breakfast food is as good as anywhere else. They use fresh ingredients and their breakfast menu will surprise you. Further, they open at 6AM which is convenient because I can grap a cup of joe before I head to work. Would recommend this place for anyone.

When I walk in the door, each place starts of at 3 stars. You can gain a star or lose one based off the service, atmosphere, & quality of food. The décor leaves something to be desired. Mainly where it connects with the attached bar next door. But not terrible, so no affect on rating. Our waitress though, seemed like this was a new profession for her. Had to get our own utensils and napkins. No salt or pepper. Kind of seemed bewildered at our newbie questions. Sorry if we’re not regulars. My girl had the breakfast sandwich. It was okay she said. Bacon was really good. I had the steak and eggs. Maybe it was their fancy grass-fed beef, but the steak was sooooo soft. I wasn’t used to that. But it was fine. Tasty, but quite seasoned. No +/-on the food. –1 on service.

This venue has been my brunch favorite for months. The menu is full of tasty paleo options at reasonable prices. My favorite entry has to be the grass-fed steak and eggs with sweet potato hash. I have yet to have any issues with any of my orders. The service is prompt and efficient. Overall, the design and atmosphere is very cozy, clean, warm, and welcoming. I’m not much of a coffee connoisseur, but I’m more than happy with their selection as well as their sugar free options. It’s a great place to spend a lazy Sunday with friends or even catch up on work.

Wow… so this place went downhill fast. I don’t know how I wrote a 5 star review and a 1 star review for the same place! So in The Corner Cup’s defense, this review is based off my most recent visit. So I visited The Corner Cup on a Sunday morning with my family that was visiting from out of town. We decided to come here because I had previously had great experiences here and it’s super close to my apartment. When I give 1 star reviews, the restaurant has to have at least 3 strikes on food, service, and atmosphere… well here’s all of the strikes that The Corner Cup earned today: * The Corner Cup wasn’t even that busy, but they were still under-staffed/not organized. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress to see our table… and then another 10 minutes for another waitress to see our table again to take our order because they didn’t coordinate whose tables they were serving amongst each other. Overall, our drink order, our food order, when our food and drinks got delivered, refills, etc… it was all not done in a timely manner. Longest brunch ever. * My mom and I both order coffees. They had run out of coffee cups, so we were served our coffees in to-go cups… that’s fine. But we discovered they were running out of everything. They had ran out of creamer cups… so they served the creamer in syrup dispensers? Weird. They also appeared to be out of spoons because we never got any… * The coffee was horrible. I’m not exaggerating. It was extremely bitter with a sour aftertaste. The beans must have been burnt or something. I honestly don’t know how you make a cup of coffee to taste like that. Anyways, we politely told our waitress that there was something wrong with the coffee and she said«yeah I don’t know what’s wrong… but people keep saying it tastes weird.»(So why do you keep serving it??) She went back and made a fresh pot of coffee… but it only tasted marginally better. I took one sip and was done with it. * I ordered a «build your own breakfast sandwich»…which they made incorrectly. So when I explained that I received the wrong order, the waitress returned it to the kitchen. After another 15 minutes of waiting for a new meal to be made… I just canceled my order because I figured it was going to take them forever to make another meal(that’d probably only taste average at best). * My dad ordered the morning meatloaf… it was extremely salty. He didn’t finish it. * My mom ordered the french toast with an apple glaze on it. She said it tasted good… but they never brought her syrup with the french toast(and yes we asked for it). * When we asked for our check(and the waitress was aware of all the problems we had at our table), she did nothing to discount our check and made no apologies. I’m not looking for a free meal, but I do think it’s ‘good service’ to make sure your customers leave happy. I expected to not be charged for the coffees or something. I believe that’s good business. I can be a forgiving person and I understand mistakes happen… but you have to realize your faults and try to improve upon them, in order for me to be a repeat customer. So The Corner Cup definitely struck out. And I’m really disappointed because I wanted The Corner Cup to be my go-to neighborhood coffee shop. But if I can’t at least rely on consistent good coffee, then it won’t work out.

Food is great and healthy but portion size is lacking for the price you pay. Location is ideal and convenient for Dogtown Bar morning recovery. Willing to try again but not currently at the top of my list for breakfast places.

Haven’t had the breakfast here, but the coffee is good(I had a café au lait and it was tasty – didn’t need any sugar/sweetener) and the employees are super friendly. Free wifi is a plus.

Weird atmosphere. I spent 4 hours studying there and was one of three customers. And the barista was talking to her friend about drugs. So that was weird.

We had brunch here and were pretty disappointed. The biscuits and gravy were bland and the sweet potato hash was very undercooked. The wait to receive our food was a little long. But at least the server was half naked, wearing the shortest dress I’ve ever seen a server wear, so we had something to talk about. As we were leaving we asked for coffees to go and the barista seemed very confused but then let us know that he could do that for us, but then he never actually brought the coffees. All in all, just kip this place. Bland food and poor service.

They had great choice for make-your-own omelet, so I had one with chorizo, salsa, and American cheese. It was delicious. They use a sweet tomato potato hash on the side, which seemed really flavorful if you like sweet potatoes… but I don’t. I’ll just ask them if they can offer a different side next time. I also got a bagel and cream cheese to go. The bagel was large and fresh. Good space, will be nice to sit outside when the weather warms up.

Major Disappointment! Staff 4 Stars, Ambiance 3 Stars, Food 2 Stars get an average of 3 Stars. The best thing about The Corner Cup is the friendly staff and and the tables that are obviously done by Rustic Grain. Otherwise, it is not the cup for me. We arrived around 11AM and was greeted by a cheerful staff member. When I mentioned I really wanted a Bloody Mary with my breakfast, he said I could get one next door at Tamm Avenue Grill. The staff next door was more then happy to fulfill my request, I just had to pay on their register. The Bloody Mary was the best part about my meal. I ordered the Portobello Benedict. Sounded great on the menu, but the presentation and preparation was lacking. The mushroom was tough, I could not slice it with a fork and it was a hard cut with a knife. They did not brush it with olive oil, season it and roast it. They stuffed it with minimal sautéed spinach, raw. The mushroom was dried out and shriveled around the edges. The poached eggs put on top had the yolks already broken and there was no hollandaise sauce. What is a Benedict without hollandaise or Béarnaise sauce? It’s not a Benedict in my book. Brad ordered the Caveman Omelet without the hamburger, but it still had ham, bacon and turkey sausage. The eggs themselves were overcooked and the meat inside was dried out. Overcooked eggs and dried out meat made for a chewy omelet. Adding cheese to this dish would help with the texture. I love Sweet Potatoes, but the side dish of Sweet Potato Hash that came with each dish was served at room temperature. It also lacked any creativity. It basically was just cubed Sweet Potatoes, onions, thyme and way too much Rosemary which gave it a bitter taste.

Had a great first experience here. The paleo-friendly veggie omelette($ 8) was fantastic and loaded with veggies. I love broccoli, and they definitely didn’t skimp on it. It was damn good. The sweet potato hash it came with was also great and had it’s own unique herbaceous flavor. The breakfast sandwich($ 5) was eggs, meat, cheese on an English muffin. A pretty simple concept, but they really executed it well. It was well-constructed, easy to eat(thanks to a foil wrapping), and quite delicious. I’m looking forward to trying the ham/egg muffins and the banana-almond pancakes on my next trip.

I was also lucky enough to come out to The Corner Cup yesterday for their opening. Rather than bore you with all of the visit details, I’d rather give a quick hits overview of some of the positive and negatives of this place. Positives: –My White Mocha Latte was reasonably good. Not the greatest, but solid. –Baristas were friendly –Décor was cool and interesting. I was particularly fond of the tables and the backwall metal. Nice touches –Spacing of the chairs and furniture was nicely done. Negatives –I think the division of this place with presumably the grill it is adjoined to is a bit confusing and takes away from the atmosphere of the coffeeshop. It seems to me that a simple drywall addition to make the coffee area a separate entity might be helpful in creating a coffeehouse atmosphere. The owners should maybe consider separating the two areas and potentially removing the door that connects the two businesses. Overall, I thought the coffee and atmosphere were solid. I’d probably consider coming back here if I need to get work done.

I was lucky enough to score an invite to the soft opening of The Corner Cup, but unlucky enough to be there too late(they ran out before 11:30am) to sample some of what looks to be an amazing menu — I was tempted to snag one of the food displays. There’s no sign out front as of yet, but it’s at the corner of the building that houses The Tamm Bar & Grill. The space is small, with four 2-top tables, 4 window bar stools, and a small table with a love seat and 2 chairs which(if you’re good friends) could seat five. Plan accordingly if you’re coming here for brunch. However, rather than a cramped, close feeling the tables are laid out well — there’s a general air of spaciousness. The large open bay window and mirrors add to that effect. I’m pretty excited about a coffee & breakfast place that offers a separate menu of paleo breakfast items. I’m really looking forward to trying the Portobello Benedict & the Eggs in a Nest. My review score is currently just for the look of the space and the coffee; I’ll attempt to get back soon to try the menu. If the food is as good as the samples look, I’ll keep the high(4*) rating. Standard coffeehouse choices. I had a skim hazelnut latte with an extra shot. Good flavor, blended well, and sufficiently amped me up for the day.
