The hubster and I ventured off into this place again and was very pleased. I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich while he ordered a turkey sandwich. I had to use both my hands to eat it! Everything was delicious and everyone was friendly. People talking and smoking at the bar. Classic rock playing in the background. Pool tables. Dart boards. An older gentleman sitting next to me at the bar gave me 75 cents to put into this large bottle filled with water with a shot glass at the bottom to ‘try my luck’ with getting the quarters into the shot glass in order to win a free drink. Guess what? I got a quarter into a shot glass and my hubby’s rum and coke were free! The night was perfect. Little things like this makes life worthwhile!

I lived in Ferguson from roughly 1990 to 2002, and Mimi’s was one place that we always enjoyed. This past year, I’ve been working nearby and today I finally convinced my co-workers to give Mimi’s a try. Everyone was a bit cautious as we approached. Mimi’s is in the basement of a vacant building(I think it was a pharmacy when I lived nearby), and there’s a *long* flight of steps from the parking lot to the bar. The air smelled like cigarette smoke, but no one was smoking. We sat down only to be reminded that we needed to place our orders at the kitchen window; then we walked to the bar to get our drinks. While we waited for the food, everyone kept glancing at me and I didn’t need to be a mind reader to know that they were wondering why I’d wanted them to eat here. Then the food arrived. A few of use had ordered various types of grilled chicken sandwiches and the fillets we got were each easily big enough to make two sandwiches. Others had ordered burgers, and the patties easily overflowed the jumbo-sized buns. But quantity is one thing, quality is another. Fortunately, everyone agreed that the food was the equal of several nearby restaurants that tend to serve smaller portions while charging more. Mimi’s is now going to be one of our regular places to eat.
