Don’t do it! Don’t go here. We had to shout for our waiter for refills after being ignored for probably a half hour. Seeing the waiter texting behind the counter while we were without silverware also didn’t sit well with me. I will never be returning to this Steak ‘n Shake again.

Food is decent. I use the drive thru alot and every single time had to go park and wait for my food, where every single car that was ever in front of me have gotten their food served thru the window. And no I do not order a lot of food so that it would take them time to prepare usually 1 – 2 people worth.

Bottom Line: All your typical Steak n’ Shake favorites done right in a throwback setting! My review of this place will be brief because everyone knows what a Steak n’ Shake is like. That said, if you want to visit a Steak n’ Shake like it was back in the day, be sure to come to this one on Lemay Ferry. Friendly staff every time I have gone here. Bonus: The street sign, the building. Extra Points: I am guessing yes, but for the first time, I got a vanilla coke(where they actually add vanilla syrup) here. I wasn’t sure if that is a typical Steak n’ Shake thing, but perhaps.

Oh I love going to this place just because the outside always reminds you that you are in fact eating government approved beef. I don’t think they have changed this place since it was built. It’s tiny as all get out, but I think that’s part of the charm, and it’s never busy anyway, so even though it’s small it’s easy to get a table. The sign still has the little paper hat topped man delivering food and is bordered in bright white lights that flash. The floor is probably the same old checkered tile that was in the establishment when it was built. It’s like going back 50 years to get your steakburger and fries. Even the late night waitress(that’s right, they usually only have one) seems like she was probably the cute little waitress there fifty years ago too. It’s the same menu as at any other Steak n Shake, but this place is classic, and not in that tacky Classic Denny’s kind of way. It really is the old building. I have no idea how this place has survived the rabid updating of the rest of South County but I’m glad it remains. I just don’t know for how long.
