I’m in the middle of marathon training, which means that I’m running a LOT. Even more than usual. Great for my endurance — not so great for my feet. I read a sign during a race once that said«Your feet hurt because you’re kicking so much ASS!» Well… I guess I’ve been kicking a lot of ass lately, because my sore feet needed a good rubdown. I’ve never had a proper foot massage before, so I wasn’t sure where to look. Thank goodness for Google! I typed in ‘foot massage st. louis’ and St. Louis Reflexology was the first thing to pop up. I checked out the website and glanced over Elaine’s credentials. She’s been practicing foot reflexology since 1992. That works for me! I called and made an appointment with no problem. Elaine runs the business from her home in Kirkwood, so the address isn’t on the website. When you call to make the appointment, she’ll give the address to you. I was a bit hesitant when I found out that she wasn’t located at an actual retail building, but all of my worries were for nothing. She has a beautiful room where she does all of the massages, and it felt just like a room at any other massage place. Elaine was wonderful. She clearly knows her stuff, and she did an amazing job on my feet. I’ve never had a dedicated foot rub, so I wasn’t sure if I’d like an entire hour to just be devoted to my feet. But it was amazing! As far as foot reflexologists go, I place them in the same category as chiropractors and acupuncturists. As a scientist, I have a really hard time buying the whole ‘touching this part of your foot triggers your liver’ sort of BS. If you can look beyond all of that, you’re golden. If you’re into that sort of thing, however, Elaine can speak at length about it. Me? I was just there for a really good footrub. And a good footrub I did receive! I’m a happy girl.
