I’m not a fan of crowds. I’m opposed to violence. But I’m all in for a good time. A group of my friends and I came here on wrestling night to be entertained. Little did I know, we came on one of the most crowded nights they’ve ever had. We were seated at a table against the wall, but the crowd was so big we had some hipsters standing in front of us, so I stood on my chair the majority of the time. I’ll admit wresting was a bit entertaining at times, but I just couldn’t get past how crowded and overwhelming it was here. There were people from all walks of life. There were hipsters, families, legitimate fans and even infants – interesting. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. I even chuckled a few times and heckled some of the wrestlers. Admission is $ 7 in advance and $ 8 at the door. For that price you get hours of «entertainment» and access to $ 2 beers(if you’re brave enough enter the crowds to get to the bar). So if you like cheap beers and mild entertainment at a low price, the SBAC is for you. If you’re not a fan of crowds and/or wrestling, my suggestion is go elsewhere. **Apparently, the SBAC can be used as a wedding venue. It’s not my cup of tea, but if you’re interested, go for it. **Wrestling is only once a month. There are specific storylines that go with each wrestler throughout a calendar year.

What did I get myself into? Wrestling is not my thing, but how could I pass up a chance to watch? The venue is must larger than I thought it would be and the best part was that the beer was super cheap! $ 2 a cup! What a deal! This is a good venue for different events mainly wrestling and boxing. I’ll probably go again since the evening was so much fun. People really do take this stuff seriously! I just went for fun.

When I used to live in Soulard I always wondered what this place was but never gave it mind to actually go in and see. Basically it is a venue for all sorts of events that focus more around Wrestling, Boxing and MMA. I came here for an MMA bout this weekend and paid $ 50 at the door and about had a heart attack at first but man, the people watching more than made up for the ticket price. The bar is excellent, and who is going to turn down $ 8 pitchers of beer? Definitely not this guy. All in all, my buddy and I had a great time watching his friends from work during their bouts. I may have to come back and check out a boxing match.

The venerable SBAC has been around in Soulard since 1904 and continues to provide a value entertainment and social experience to all St Louis residents. Whether it be youth boxing, bingo, concerts or Pro-Wrestling, there is usually something for everyone to enjoy. Warning…the bi-monthly Pro Wrestling bouts($ 8 at the door) can induce fits of intoxicating laughter. The action outside the ring is usually more entertaining than what goes on inside and in a word«priceless.» You’ll see a granny with an oxygen tank clutching a toddler to her chest while a cigarette dangles from her lips, all the while she’s screaming at one of the villains to «Moider that mutha-#@$%^ bum!!!» Premium people watching! That, and they pour a mean drink for dirt cheap. You’re on your own with the food. Everything«looks» alright… but… There are rumors circulating that SBAC is in trouble financially. We are doing everything we can to keep this gem open. Do your part by stopping by on a Saturday night and taking a trip back to a time where everything was just a little bit simpler. The 70s!

I almost cannot express what a fantastic time was to be had at SBAC last evening. Amateur boxing, Golden Gloves qualifying, Kids and coaches working towards a goal and putting on a great show. Even if you’re not a fan of pugilism, you’d enjoy this show. This isn’t brutal, its not wrestling at the chase, it is quality boxing by kids who are amateurs, but certainly have skill. SBAC seat quite a few, has a full bar and serves up some damn good burgers and dogs. It seams that almost every seat is ringside. Great outing for something different.
