So disappointing … The worst food I’ve had for a high price. we went with a group of 10 people and my boyfriend and I sat at the edge of the table and they served us like 2 pieces of shrimp and a tiny piece of chicken because there was none left over for us and they still charged us 40 dollars. The calamari tasted like rubber. I would not recommend this place and I will never go back

We just returned home from Shogun. Our chef was amazing and really bonded with our family. We were half way through our meal and were asked to pay because the staff wanted to go home. We were stunned. The restaurant was not even closed yet. The manager said that they really needed us to settle up because they wanted to close. My husband had a full glass of wine and half a plate of food. They tried to clear all of our plates as well. It was so bizarre because it did not start out this way. My husband had words with the server person and then she proceeded to go in the main lobby to yell all about us in a foreign language. It was dreadful. We felt like we were tossed out. We live 2 miles away from this establishment and will never go back. Their food is good and yet not worth this behavior or attitude. SAD way to end New Year’s Day. They never should have sat us at all if they wanted to go home.

Shogun had tremendous entertainment using the chef that came to your table. The food was excellent it was not the best steak I’ve had, however it definitely fitted the description of excellent. The only thing I would suggest for Shogun is to not cram it’s food onto one plate.

Awesome!!! This place was truly amazing. These nice people will put on a show for you by preparing your food before your eyes. The food was absolutely delicious, and you could tell it was fresh. They seat eight people maximum in front of a stove, and the professional Hibachi chefs put on a show. The man juggled the kitchenware as well as eggs, shot some sort of alcohol in my mouth, had us catch pieces of broccoli, etc. Its a very interactive show worth the money you’re about to pay… Heads up though, they won’t seat you until your entire party is present or knows what they want to order. I’ll definitely be returning next time I have a special event!

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night about 6pm. No wait and we sat at a hibachi table. The salad had weird dressing and wasn’t at all fresh(think premade cafeteria/school style), it wasn’t appetizing. The soup was water, salt, couple chives, and a few pieces of uncooked mushroom(gross). Off to a bad start. We could have had a better waiter period. Tea no lemon, brings lemon twice. Didn’t seem to know the menu. All this said, the main courses were ok, just not worth the price. $ 28 for the Shogun Special which is steak, shrimp, and chicken, fried rice and veggies. $ 17 for spicy chicken(hot jalapeños). I’d say the shrimp, rice, veggies and my spicy chicken were the best items of the night. Our chef was ok, smiled, and threw veggies to catch by mouth. For the price you’d expect more and better quality. Maybe the other stuff if better… I just won’t return.

We went here this past weekend for a friends birthday. What a disappointment. While I was a bit surprised that they didn’t take reservations, we all arrived and our wait was less than 30 minutes. Trying to get a drink at the bar while we waited was a minor issue, the bartender wouldn’t even acknowledge us, and though I know she was busy, look up and let us k now you will be with us in a minute, she wouldn’t even make eye contact. To me, that’s just bad bartending. But whateves, no biggie. The host on the other hand… all I can say is — TOTALJERK and he is the main and only reason we won’t be back, ever. He rudely asked repeated(like, over and over) if our entire party was there, and we were, all 7 of us. So we were seated, and the guys went to the bathroom on the way to the table. We we got to the table, he then DRILLED us again, WEREARETHEY??? We stated that they went to the bathroom, jeez, YOUJUSTSAWTHEM… OK, fine. We waited a min and our server came, who was very nice, and she took our drink orders and then left us to decide on sushi. Well, there was another group of our friends dining on the other side of the restaurant, the guys stopped to talk to them on the way back from the bathroom. Well, the host came back and again, basically yelled at us wondering where our other diners were at — THEYARETALKINGTOFRIENDSOVERTHERE, THEYARESTILLHERE. Fine, he walked away. Meanwhile, one friend came back, the other was still talking(they were his friends, also celebrating a birthday, and he’s a talker). they hadn’t even come back to take our orders yet, so we weren’t really sure what the big deal was. But less than 5 minutes later(again, before they took our orders), he came back again, RUDELY barked at us — WHEREISHE!!! And that’s when the birthday girl kinda lost it on him and asked what his problem was, he somewhat backed off, never apologized, but we explained and pointed to where our friend was, and that we haven’t even been able to order our sushi yet. Meanwhile, there were 3 other hibachi tables open, and he was seating another table 2 – 3 people at a time. So WHY was he harassing us? We had a full table, we still hadn’t ordered, it was absolutely ridiculous the way he acted and harassed us. So that set the tone. When our waitress came back, we asked for the manager, and that’s when we realized it would be pointless to even bother to complain, because the host is the manager’s husband… Perhaps that’s why he felt it was OK to treat us that way, because he knew there would be no repercussions. She also mentioned that none of the customers like him as well as half the staff(SHOCKING…not). At that point our friend returned the table, we had already placed our sushi order, and our dinner order and proceeded to sit for a while…(and since we kept waiting, we still weren’t sure what his prob was). Our sushi didn’t come out before, it came out with our dinner(also not the norm, we wanted it as apps) and it also came out WARM. WARMSUSHI. Gross. Needless to say we didn’t eat it. The chef that did our dinner was good, entertaining, put on a fun little show and the food was cooked well, my med rare steak was just that! However, the host left such a sour taste in our mouths, we well never go back. As well as our other friends, who also witnessed this scene that he put on, they too will not be back, and I will be sure share this experience with everyone. Other tables noticed this as well and joked with us about how rude he was. I’m sure they lost a few other clients that night too. I’d love to know who the owners are, because I don’t think they would appreciate this kind of treatment to their clientele, but then again, this can’t be the first time this has happened.

Great for lunch; their sushi specials are reasonably priced. The service is good. However, it’s not a great«dinner restaurant». The ambiance is lacking tremendously if you do not wish to sit at a hibachi grill. It’s also over priced for dinner.

There are so much better Hibachi restaurants out there. The idea is to put on a show for diners and our chef had no desire to do that. The food was just okAy. Steak salty and tough. However the fried rice was great. I would much rather go to Oshi’s in Chesterfield, the food is so much better for about the same price. At shoguns it’s not worth the cost at Oshi’s it most definitely is.

We just left shoguns. Made reservations at 630pm. Arrived on time. Hostess stated they still give away tables if people walk in. Hostess said we would have to wait another 20 minutes. Why take reservations if they don’t honor them. After 15 minutes, we told them we were leaving. Didn’t seem to bother them. There might be a reason why they average 2 and a half stars

The food was ok. Pretty bland and small portions. EXTREMELY overpriced. The«house salad» reminded me of a school lunch salad and the miso soup was boring. We’ll definitely not be returning.

Good Lord. I ordered the filet mignon and lobster and all I could taste was salt. Like holy crap dude that was actually hard to eat. Neither one of those need much salt to enhance flavor. Major fail! However the fried rice was some of the best I’ve ever had.

We went to Shogun on Valentine’s for dinner. The hostess told us it would be a 45 minute wait. Once we were seated, a hour and a half passed, the chef never came to our table. One of the couples at our table saw a manager & inquired about the chef not coming to our table & he completely dismissed him. We asked for a manager & she said it was Valentines day and they were busy. After we told her we were there for 2.5 hours, she said we could leave if we did not want to wait. She said there was nothing she could do for any of us. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Everything was mishandled and we left the restaurant after wasting 2.5 hours. Floors were dirty and very disappointing all the way around!!!

We booked what we were told was a definite reservation on New Year’s Eve 2014, called 3 days in advance. When we arrived there at 6:30 was a completely packed waiting room. Checked in with the hostess & was told it would be an hour & a half or 2 hour wait, I told her we had a reservation, her response was«we don’t take reservations, it just helps us to know you’re coming.» So if you call & think you can make plans based on a «reservation» beware– you will be stuck waiting with all the other walk-ins at the same time. No apologies, we left.

Christmas night. Needs updating, bathroom dirty, overpriced, and open for Christmas! Does have a full bar. Reminded me of Christmas vacation. I’ll never for get eating here last night. Merry Christmas. Oh, they shoot broccoli instead of shrimp in your mouth. Big fail!

I used to come here a couple times a month with friends. It was always amazing. The food and the drinks! I moved but came here for date night tonight and just spent over 70 bucks for extremely bad sushi and rushed service. I get it, I was on the service industry. On Friday night it gets busy. The waiter treated everyone at the hibachi as if we were in a big group and not individual couples. Everyone else’s food and even another couples sushi was pretty much consumed before I got mine. The waiter said it would be out«soon» 3 times. And my fried roll was competely cold and didn’t taste right. I didn’t wind up eating more than 2 pieces and the waiter said nothing or asked me how it was. Everything from my martini to the fried rice even tasted watered down and not as flavorful as I remember this once AMAZING restaurant. I’m not sure if it was different because they’ve redone the whole place and added so many more grills or what but it literally tasted sub par if that and the service was super disappointing. I won’t be returning and that really is a shame.

The hibachi food was ok, but a bit too pricey. We went there for Mother’s Day last year, we paid about $ 250 for 7 adult &2toddler. I think the sushi was ok too, but definitely would rather go to sushi Ai for sushi !

I love Japanese food but don’t get a chance to eat it much. I’ve been here a couple of times and had fun every time. I love sitting at the tables where they cook the food in front of you. If you order shrimp, they may flip one in your mouth! :) This a great place for birthday dinner or a bachelorette party.

This place is terrible. Soup is nothing but hot water. Portions are small. Prices are high. Just one big rip-off. Avoid at all cost. Owner knows he’s ready to fold, watering down everything. This type of establishment is no longer viable. The course has run.

Service is poor but sushi is good. Called ahead to get reservations at a grill table, but they insured me it would not be busy at that time and refused my reservation. Arrived there and got put on the list. Expected wait time:15 min. We(party of 2) sat at the bar 10 ft from the hostess and waited. 30 min goes by and I got up to ask what was up. Hostess wrote down my name incorrectly. Looked down to see she skipped over us to sit 4 other parties. She failed to walk the 10 ft over to us to get our attention. We waited 15 more minutes and gave up on the grill. Instead we were immediately sat in the restaurant. Edemamme and Salad came first which also included a dead fly. :(Appetizer arrived with one of the entries. Finally My sushi arrived 10 min later. I got a couple sushi rolls and the smoked salmon appetizer. It was good, but nothing special. Verdict is: go there if you have 3 hours for dinner service.
