This Schnuck’s is just okay. Nothing to get excited about. The employees here are generally rude, don’t seem too happy to help and are unfriendly at check out. Check out lines are SO slow and inefficient. I often end up bagging and loading my own groceries, which is frustrating because I could pay less and go to Shop n Save or Aldi. On Sunday evenings, they are often out of staples like certain brands of milk or breads. Guess they haven’t figured out their inventory? This is the closest store to me and it works when I need to pick up a few items, but if I don’t do major grocery shopping here.

It’s an ok grocery store. I wish they had fresher produce, the potatoes always look like they are about to go bad soon, along with much of the fruit. I used to shop at the Clayton and Big Bend location and it’s much nicer but this one is close to my house. Even the shop n save nearby is remodeled. I think i might give the Mckenzie Dierbergs more of my business.

Abandon all hope ye who enter here… I tell myself that I’m never going back. Time and freaking time again. I don’t care that it’s the closest grocery store to my house. Not gonna do it. And this time… I mean it! Until I realize that I need x y or z immediately. And then I take my anti-anxiety pill and head to my nightmare store. Every single time I come to this grocery store I feel like I’m losing hope in humanity. It is perpetually disorganized, with RUDE employees, rotting produce, expired can goods, tons of armed guards/police and screaming customers who for some reason seem to enjoy beating their children. I don’t get it. I’m not going back. And this time… I mean it. No. Really.

I like shopping at Schnucks supermarkets, even this location. It is one of the older model stores and it’s not super fancy. It’s smaller than most, but has all the essentials and is even open 24hrs.

I used to think this was a nice grocery store, but it’s actually terrible. This location needs a full remodel or to be bulldozed. I frequent this location because it is the closest grocery store to my apartment, but with Dierbergs not too far away and also offering triple coupons, decent sales, etc. I am going to take my business to them. This Schnucks doesn’t have anything nice. I don’t care that there’s not a jazz trio playing at a Kaldi’s inside of this store on Sunday mornings. But I do care that there are no nice breads. No hot food bar. And when it comes to cheeses; the selection is terrible. The case always looks empty like there’s just been a rush, but really they just don’t carry anything. The meat section is a joke as well. They only had a few packages of chicken out and it was all in large quantities, so I asked the person working the counter if they could get me a smaller quantity from the back. Apparently they don’t do that. So I had to go to a second grocery store to buy a staple. Service at the meat and seafood counters is always spotty. I’ve stood around looking like an idiot for 5+ minutes waiting for someone to come over or acknowledge that I’m there, but it’s hard to find anyone to help you even though it is never busy when I’m there. This is like the grocery store that time forgot. Schnucks, if you’re going to keep it open, could you at least act like it matters? I’m done with this location. See you soon, Dierbergs.

Bottom Line: Clean, organized, and mostly helpful staff. Overview/Summary: I must reveal first off that I used to work at this Schnuck’s back in the late 80s /early 90s. It has changed quite a bit since that time, and I like the layout as it is now. That said, I only try to find a few particular items that I generally find here without too much trouble. They have Mexican sodas(Jarritos!), as well as a good selection of trail mixes, and produce. Most folks are not in here to dally, at least it doesn’t seem that way. You have a fair number of older folks who shop here, but using the self-checkout is a quick way to avoid a delay in line. I have come across a few folks that work at this store that seem to just be killing time until it is time to go home, but they are in the minority. Most folks here seem to be on top of things. I have made a special case order here before and was happy with the outcome. This store features a bakery and a floral department.

As this was the grocery store closest to me, I went here fairly frequently. But it was only for convenience sake. It was open 24 hours so if I needed an ingredient at 2 o’clock in the morning(which I sometimes did) I knew that I could run around the corner and pick it up. But you can only get the basics here; Nothing too fancy and nothing too obscure. Prices are reasonable but I would rather pay the bit extra and go to Dierbergs.
