I had a leaking flat roof and called several roofing companies. I couldn’t believe how hard it was to get someone to even come out to look at it! I called Richards and they told me I didn’t need to be home for them to look at it, which should have been a red flag. I highly doubt if they even got up there to take a gander. They said they would call to set up a time to work on it. One day I was on my back porch smoking a cigarette and noticed a work truck driving slowly down the alley, and I noticed it was Richards. I flagged them down and let them in.(They never called to say what day or time they were coming. If I hadn’t been home, how would they have gotten up on the roof with my gates being locked?) The workers looked to be about 19 years old. One asked the other, «So this is just regular maintenance?» The other nodded. No, I said, you’re supposed to be repairing leaks. Oh, OK. I go back inside, they set up their ladders, and go up on the roof. I kid you not, they were up there for all of 15 minutes! The bill arrives and it’s $ 1500!!! Oh, and they said there was no warranty on the work because of the age of the roof. It was leaking again within a week. I wrote them a scathing review on Angies List(which is where I found them… how in the world did they ever get kudos on there?), and they badgered me for writing it. They did adjust the price a bit after my complaints, but it was still highway robbery for such slipshod work and service.

I have had a very positive experience with Richards Roofing! About 12 years ago we hired them to put a roof on our Kirkwood home. They did a great job. Two weeks ago part of a big oak in our backyard fell on the back of the house. Damaged roof. Rich Ray sent two people out right away to patch holes. Within ten days they put on my new roof. Workmen personable, professional and left my yard and driveway clean. I highly recommend RR to anyone needing their services! Lois Creamer

There was a leak in our roof that was allowing water to come down onto the ceiling of the master bedroom in our house. So, the location of the leak was apparent, as it was right above where the water stain was. The person from Richards Roofing came and charged $ 125 to tell us that there was no leak, that it must have been so windy during the storm that it pushed the rain uphill and under the shingles. It wouldn’t happen again. The guy was right, it didn’t happen again — well, not until the next time it rained. We called a competent roofing company and had the roof fixed.
