I have to say that every single year the organizers of this festival seem to amaze me. Now, You will ask how and why they do that when it seems to be the same every year, but it’s not! Every year in June(which is deemed the Pride month for those of you not in the know!) So, usually a weekend is given for the city to party, and party they do. Tower grove park in all it’s splendor wakes up and partakes in the frivolity. This year however, it was it’s biggest and seemed to be the best of them yet with the entertainers, exhibits and yes, even Unilocal made an appearance there! Margaret Cho was the headliner and she was absolutely hysterical and not only at the park but she had herself a few dates downtown as well! If you have not gone, then you are doing a disservice because it’s great fun to party with your friends. You don’t have to be part of the LGBTQ community to BEYOU!

What a great festival! The freedom to be open and express your awesomeness no matter what. Everything goes at pride fest. Pride Fest is a weekend long festival held in Tower Grove Park and continued on in the evening in The Grove on Manchester. It’s the annual festival for the LGBT community. Though it primarily represents the LGBTs, it is open and strongly encouraged for anyone with an open mind to attend the festivities. There is no shame, and no reason to be ashamed. It makes sense that this year’s slogan of Pride Fest was«Be You». Excellent. Every year, Pride has a parade. This year it was held on Sunday with perfect sunny skies, but the down fall was the temperature of nearly 100 degrees, and that’s not even the heat index! Ugh, I was melting out there. So crowded on South Grand with the floats, spectators, police, and all the crazy madness going on. All in a good way though. Once the parade concludes, you head into Tower Grove where there is entertainment, music, food vendors, and shopping vendors. You’ll also find many tables set up with local community non-profits that are in support of LGBT. The tables offered up great info for ways you could get involved or simply educate yourself about what all goes on into making the Pride festival. I really had a blast. The colors really set the mood for the day. Vibrant and open just how the festival should be.
