Had a great(although expensive) experience with them for opening our pond, but closing was a different experience(or non experience). Called September 19 to schedule closing. They require your credit card number upfront. After an entire month had gone by and no one calling or showing up, I called Oct 18 and was told I had to dial a different number for the woman who arranges service. She told me they would be out in no later than 3 days. I expressed concern about the freezing temps that were about to hit and was told they’d be out. A week later called again, same story. Called twice this week, same story. Called November 1 to cancel the service and was told they were coming today. Hmmm… Heard that one before! But I just didn’t believe it. I explained to the woman at the store on the phone that if she were in my position, she wouldn’t want them coming out when they couldn’t even give me the courtesy of a call to let me know they were or weren’t coming out. Disappointing. Now have to find someone new at last minute. The guy who cleans ponds for them is the best thing about their service. After this recent experience, I would not recommend them.

I used to be a frequent customer of this place when it was called Best of Nature. For the newcomers to water gardening this place can provide lots of inspiration with everything from stone selection, mechanical design, plant placement, and fish selection. The staff’s ability to answer my questions(admittedly sometimes very technical) has always been hit or miss. They offer a great selection of fish and plants, although somewhat pricey. One important lesson I have learned with pond ownership is to find a supplier who stands behind all their products, which Pond Crazy does. When we initially constructed our 25,000gallon pond we had a massive rubber liner delivered which ended up having a tear in the center, the sales staff came out to repair the liner on the spot. We also experienced a de– chlorination disaster after the annual cleaning with an different supplier’s product resulting in the loss in numerous expensive Koi. Since then all of our water chemical treatment purchases have been made here with confidence.

Pond Crazy used to be called Best of Nature Water Garden Center, and it makes more sense now. I was floored when, after buying a house with a pond I knew nothing about, I found this gem close to home. It’s got a small shop with lots of pond equipment and flair, then an outdoor area seasonally with plants galore for water gardens and also lots of fish. They also have their own water features on display. As a part of the business, they will design and install ponds and do pond maintenance like cleanings. I’ve bought things here, including a pump, plants and fish, and also have bought fish. The employees are very knowledgeable, which has been very nice because my husband and I needed to learn about our pond. They have cleaned our pond for the last 2 years and we have been so happy with it. The guy who cleaned it was so meticulous, drained and scrubbed and power washed, saved fish, and really made it look nice. The first time is the most expensive but after that, it is cheaper the following year to clean since you’re regularly maintaining it. The advice they have given us has been good and I’ve added some new plants to the pond this year. The plants and fish are pricey — so much that I bought my fish elsewhere this year. But you can’t find water plants like this in many places and they are good quality, so I will continue to buy them. We’ll continue to use Pond Crazy for our pond in the future too!
