One of the best breakfast buffets I have ever seen in the US. Visited for several days in a row and it’s top notch. Tons of fresh fruit, make your own breakfast bar with omelettes, great staff. This is tuff to top. Excellent in every respect.

I hold semi-regular marketing meetings here, mostly because it’s centrally located for the members attending, and also because its usually pretty empty on a weeknight around happy hour. However, this last time, there was some convention having an event and it was loud. This place is standard, nothing fancy, decent happy hour prices. Good place for a meeting, not necessarily to impress for a date.

This restaurant is part of the Crown Plaza Hotel, which offers a complimentary buffet breakfast here. Their breakfast is great way to start the morning. The made to order omelet bar is the star of the show — that alone makes for a rather complete breakfast. The omelet bar has the usual offerings(bacon, sausage, cheese, mushrooms, etc.). I’ve found the hot portion of the buffet to be a bit hit and miss — Most of the time you’ll find the usual suspects(sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes, etc.), however, there have been a few times were some basics(like bacon) have been missing. The string hash browns are the one item that I’ve generally enjoyed across the board. Fellow colleagues rave about the biscuits & gravy, but I don’t find those to be overly exciting. They also have some pastries, yogurt, fruits, etc.

Went in on Saturday afternoon for a lunch in. We had a very sweet server and in all honesty I prefer service like that. Being sure waters are filled an attention to the food. Personality is sometimes okay, but I’d prefer more attention to the food – which she did. I got a kick out of her nails though. So pretty and pink. I ordered the Fish and Chips and for a moment I was afraid it was going to be some fried white fish(you have no clue how many people just think people do NOT know fish). It was a quaint serving of cod. I got a side of fruit to go with it – it does come with coleslaw but you may choose another side which was a plus. It was very delicious. I would have ate it all but some one killed my vibe and I wanted to go home. Our sever was sweet and offered to box it. I said no. It was good fun. Simple and fast. I will be back if I am in the Clayton area with some free time.

Worse food ever… first got stale fish and chips. Came with one piece of fish that looked like it came out of a Gordons frozen food box. Frostbit and hard… warm coleslaw. Bartender was nice to trade me for a hamburger. Got the burger and it was FLAME broiled(burnt). Just hope I don’t die from food poisoning!

I had the single most hideous meal ever here and I only give the waitress a star for being nice and attentive and also having the decency not to ask me how I liked the food. I ordered a cup of chili, it was cold. The beans were an impossible combination of chalky and mushy. The fish and chips only got worse. The fish was oily from the fryer fat and had no discernable texture. The cole slaw was awful, just a slimy, wilted mass of cabbage threads in a soup of corn syrup and vinegar as best I could tell. There were a lot of games on the TVs. That’s about it. Sorry folks.

Sometimes you aren’t sure what to expect from hotel restaurants… sometimes good, sometimes bad. My lunch here exceeded expectations, I was very pleased. I went with the veggie burger sans the bun with a side of cottage cheese. I figured I would try something different than my usual salad, and I’m so glad I did. The burger was amazing, it was honestly better than any normal restaurant burger I’ve had. It was topped with lettuce and an amazing sauce; it didn’t take long for me to devour the whole thing. The burger was made completely out of fresh chopped veggies and black beans. May not sound so appetizing because its ‘healthy’, but I guarantee you would be blown away. The side of cottage cheese was equally delicious, tasted very fresh, thick and flavorful, a nice change from most restaurant’s watered down brands. There is a nice section of tables and booths alongside floor to ceiling windows, which is nice to have the view of Clayton and do some people watching while enjoying your meal. If you are staying at this hotel and need a good spot to eat or if you are tired of the same old spots for lunch in Clayton, give this place a try!

Attentive service but mediocre food. What you see is what you get at this sports bar lunch spot. You’re probably best off ordering something fried.

Morons. 15 minutes into the first round of NCAA tourney and we can only get Mizzou on one of about 30 tv’s despite asking repeatedly.

We were here for breakfast this Mother’s Day. After a night at an open bar fundraiser I HAD to have something to eat before the hour and a half drive home and this restaurant just happened to be in the hotel. First impression was fine, the hostess seemed a bit tired and picked up a couple of menus and I think she said«hello». The buffet set up was lovely and varied. Staying in the hotel the night before was a spontaneous decision that we booked the day before since we wanted to make a night of it. Silly me forgot her change of clothes at home so the next day I was wearing my party dress and high heels. This apparently put off the waitress and she looked at me like I was a hooker scrounging for buffet scraps. She was not conversational at all and only passed by a couple of times to ask if we needed anything sans a smile on her face. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she was just tired, I don’t know but I do know that I felt very unwelcome. The bacon was awesome, the eggs tasted powdery with a runny, grainy aftertaste but I’ve come to expect all buffet eggs to be powdered(which I hate). The shredded hashbrowns were good but the cubed potatoes were cooked to such a hardened crisp that every time I went to fork them they would try to fly off my plate. The desserts were definitely the highlight of the entire set up. I was not too disappointed in the taste of the food but when I went for seconds on the eggs I found myself chewing a hair. Now, I don’t normally freak out about stuff like that so I set the light brown wavy hair aside(my hair is black and medium length) and continued with my meal. I hit the fruit and was thoroughly enjoying my strawberries when I found what looked like a long unraveled carpet thread. It didn’t make its way into my mouth but at that point I did call the host over who handled it quite well with lots of apologies. He took my plate for me but nobody else said anything about it until I went back to the buffet to see what else I could nibble on. At that point the manager and the cook asked me about it. I really wish they would have addressed it right away while I was still sitting at the table and offered some kind of compensation. I never ask for freebies so I just let it go. Throughout the meal I couldn’t get over how much the waitress looked like she was just begging for us to leave so the hussy wouldn’t be sitting at her table. And when we finally paid for our $ 20 a piece breakfast(super pricey for what we experienced if you ask me) the waitress didn’t even say goodbye(the host did, he was nice) and we walked out feeling fairly disappointed. Wow, after recapping, that experience had a lot more fail in it than I thought.

Update: I’m changing my review from 2 to 3 stars because they have recently started featuring daily vegetarian specials(previously their selection of vegetarian options left much to be desired). I tried the homemade black bean burger, and it was the best vegetarian burger I’ve ever had! I feel like it’s still too soon to tell how the new options will pan out, but so far, I’m impressed

Service — 4 stars Food — 3 stars Cooked to Order — 4 stars Wife and I ate here while staying at Crowne Plaza, as well. Prices were great, burgers and sandwiches under $ 10. TV’s from every view. Basically a sports bar, restaurant. Good value for money from what appears to be a monied area. Wife had the mushroom burger that was actually cooked medium rare, like she wanted! She often asks for, but seldom gets her burgers cooked to her satisfaction. Fries were coated with spicy seasoning, and nice and crisp. I had the Chop House salad that was adjusted to my specifications without a problem. My tea never got half empty, which is one of my standards for good service! Everyone was very friendly and menu says they have 25 Hi Def TV’s(I didn’t count) They also have free Wi-Fi which means I could check up on email while waiting. We were just passing through, but I’d recommend the place to anyone who’s looking for a relatively inexpensive place to eat and hang out.

I have eaten here twice when staying at the Crown Plaza. Both times were great. I enjoy the atmosphere from the restaurant. Newly remodeled with tons of tv’s and creative lighting. Full Bar with great beers on tap. The menu has a wide selection with something for everyone. I order the Burger Blue last time is was in and it was great. The fries were really good as well. Great place to have drinks and watch sports.
