This location just opened in Maplewood Commons, and I’ve heard so much about the location downtown: «Best sandwiches in St. Louis,» I was told. Small place — about the size of the typical Jimmy John’s. Only décor was classic rock posters — not sure I understand the tie-in with classic rock, but we’ll go with it. There are a lot of choices of sandwiches. Reminded me of Blues City Deli with all the choices. Or if you’re familiar with the chain Earl of Sandwich, it was similar(but not as good as Earl). The Bacon Mushroom Melt was awesome, and since it was our first time there, we decided to try the soup as well. I had the potato soup, and based on the sandwich-maker’s recommendation, I agreed to add some shredded cheese and bacon bits to it. It was just like Houlihan’s Baked Potato soup, which is one of my favorites — extremely tasty. However, a whole sandwich and soup is a lot of food. I was overstuffed even though I didn’t finish my soup and even though I had the small sandwich. So if you want both, see if you can get someone to share a sandwich or soup with you. Too bad Planet Sub didn’t have a soup and ½ sandwich option. I looked for one but didn’t see it; maybe I should have asked.
