M. Louay Omran is a St. Louis Magazine«best doctor,» with an impressive curriculum vitae(you can find it on the SLU Medical School website or google it) that inspires confidence. As I’ve said elsewhere, I really like practitioners who work in a teaching hospital and/or medical school because I believe there’s a lot of competency and accountability built into such an interconnected system. Not only is there opportunity for consultation with fellow professors who are researching the latest and best, but there’s also the instruction and mentoring of students. Personally, I know that when I have to teach something, I learn the subject matter better than when I am the end user. The teaching hospital and medical school connections make me more confident about the quality of care I’m receiving. And, the more confidence I have, the less anxiety I experience, which is a good thing since there’s already plenty of anxiety built into receiving health care. Once, I was with an old friend before a procedure when the doctor entered with a «Good Morning. How are you feeling?» My friend replied, «I’m okay. But more important, how are YOU feeling?» When I saw Dr. Omran, it didn’t matter so much how I felt. More important, he looked confident, caring, rested, and ready. The procedure went quickly, was painless, and had a good outcome. Thank you!
