Mound City has been a fixture on Olive in U City for many years. They sell their products in the shop and sell wholesale to several groceries, where their products can also be found. The holiday season is the busy season. Great place to pick up some gifts. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Andrew helped me pick out some gift assortments, and answered all of my questions. People go nuts for their fresh peanut and almond butter. I personally love their candied pecans. The quality and freshness make their product a good value, plus you get to support a local small business run by nice folks. The date on the packaging(for what they package today) goes out about three months. They’ve been in business for years and it’s easy to see why.

I was really pleased with my trip to Mound City. The nuts were great(my husband and I sampled most of the selection in the store!) and the prices were very reasonable. The store is quaint and the staff was very friendly and helpful. While there, we also tried some of their homemade jelly beans, peanut butter, and almond butter — all excellent!

A very unexpected business on a commercially declining part of olive blvd… I went expecting great fresh nuts. it is a cute little shop, but the prices seem a bit high. I’m use to buying all my nuts at trader joes and the prices here were about double. And it didn’t particularly strike me as all that fresh and homey either. it occurred to me that they probably don’t get much turnover so a lot of the packaged gift boxes of nuts have probably been sitting on the shelves for a very loooong time. There is also a small candy counter with chocolate covered nuts, turtles, etc. But again, how fresh could that be? there just was not much hustle/bustle here. I don’t mean to knock the place too much. the lady at the register was very nice. Its just i’m very curious how they stay in business. Maybe they have a lot of internet sales but it doesn’t seem like many in stl even know about them, since this is the first review. Bottom line– the nuts were fine but no better than what I get at trader joes for half the price.
