Pros: — leather couches!(I feel like I could just end the review right here.) — amazing deals: $ 5 matinée everyday(ANY showing before 5pm), $ 5 for any 2D show on Wednesdays — free parking in covered lot in the back — fast customer service and ticketing — cheap snacks and drinks(by movie theater standards) Cons: — crummy viewing angles for the side couches — very limited movie selections; don’t expect to find all just-released movies here — lackluster popcorn(yes, I’m a picky bastard when it comes to theater popcorn) Notes: — get there 30 minutes early to claim decent couches — there are a bunch of regular seats behind all the couches if you’re a straggler — don’t try to fit 3 people to a couch… Seriously, don’t; I can vouch for this based on personal experience of being that third wheel — general prices: $ 10 for adults, $ 8 for students /seniors, $ 6 for kiddos — I’ve been able to use my BJH employee badge several times for ‘student’ pricing; the employees were super nice about offering the discount — go to AMC Esquire 7 on Clayton if you want leather seats + the option to reserve exact seating location ahead of time

This theater is the most comfortable, most relaxing, most fun place to go to watch a movie. It’s the place to be.

Nothing else quite like this place. I love the St. Louis Cinemas company and this is definitely their coolest theater. Couches on the floor, organ, sweet venue. Refreshments are cheaper than most places and high quality.

The Moolah is my very favorite theater in St. Louis. The couches are cozy to sit on and fit 2 – 3 people. I recommend 2 people to a couch so you can spread out and get more comfortable. I’ve seen people bring their own blankets to the Moolah, which I recommend because it can get a bit chilly in there. The movie screen is huge, which I enjoy because it makes the movie experience that much better. The Moolah also has typical movie snacks, along with a full bar and some other foods(such as toasted ravioli).

I only like coming here when I can get a couch seat. There are places in the balcony where it is a little difficult(due to the angle) to watch the movie. The drinks at the bar are only okay. Besides the couches, the best part of this place is the architecture. The Moolah makes for an impressive date night, but there are other places that I like more for my movie nights.

Housed in a renovated former Shriner’s Temple, Moolah has got it going on!!! Coming here to see a movie is more than just that… it is an experience you won’t forget! You can find free parking behind the building if you drive just past the building and turn right. You should see the sign. Only one screen for box-office movies, so the key to getting a prime love seat couch is an early arrival. Full bar and food options are available and encouraged to be brought into the theatre. We chowed down on pizza by the slice and drank Urban Chestnut beer on tap while watching Hunger Games. Moolah provides the perfect place for an enjoyable date night!

Cool concept with couches instead of normal seating, but it fans a little short in practice. Some of the couches are uncomfortable and have bad viewing angles with the screen. If you are seeing a popular movie, like star wars, I recommend arriving early to get a good seat. Don’t buy the popcorn. It was the worst popcorn I’ve ever had at a movie theater.

I have now been to the Moolah! After months of driving by it at least once a week, I finally went to see my first show at the Moolah. The lobby isn’t very big, but it’s pretty. They sell some nice concessions and have a full bar, though that was closed for the matinée I saw. I ordered a slice of Dogtown pizza, which was made to order and ready just in time for the opening credits of Spectre. FYI, it’s quite dark inside! I had to pause until the screen was bright enough to illuminate my path. Only one screen, but it sure is big. You sit on couches or in the balcony. The couches were quite comfortable but I didn’t adore the view from the ground level. I guess I’m spoiled by stadium seating. The balcony was closed. There were some people up there who got kicked out about halfway through. That was a little distracting. Overall, :). I’d like to try the balcony next time.

Beer, snacks, couches and recliners? All while watching a movie with your friends in what feels like an old ballroom… heck yes! I love this place. This building is a landmark in itself, I couldn’t help but look around and up at the gorgeous ceiling and breathtaking interior. The inside is just as cool as the outside. The only thing that could make it better is if they let you bring blankets and pillows to create a fort! My life would be complete. I love the Moolah.

I have come to this theater number of times and never had a problem. Tonight we went online and got tickets via a directed link from the theater site to fandango. We bought tickets online and it said that you do not have to wait in line and we got a confirmation number showing that we had two tickets for the Martian. When we got to the theater they informed us that they don’t accept Fandango confirmed tickets without us getting in line and getting physical tickets from the movie agent. It was a disaster here, and even people who bought tickets directly from the theater site got a terrible hassle!!! The manager was a young woman who simply said the situation«was disappointing!!!» We were very annoyed at the poor customer service, lack of customer concern and failure to resolve the problem! When we got up to the agent he didn’t even want to accept our confirmation # for tickets thru Fandango. Just a disgrace!!! Many we’re complaining but we are sending an email to Mr. Harmon himself! This is an unacceptable situation!

Moolah is a great way to spend a lazy Sunday watching a movie. It’s an old performance theater converted into a movie theater. They put couches in on the floor but get there about 45 minutes early to snag one because they are a nice commodity. They only have one screen but I’ve always enjoyed going there. The themed drinks are fun too as they will make custom cocktails based on the movie shown and name them after the movie. Overall, good service and good prices compared to other mainstream movie theater chains.

Drinks and movie are a little on the pricey side. Get there early to reserve a good couch spot! That being said, the screen is fantastic, the ambience is fun, the theater is beautiful, and the staff is fantastic. Totally recommend this experience. Great for a date or just catching a movie, because let’s face it, who doesn’t like a bar in their movie theater?!

Loved it. Great prices before 5 everyday is $ 5.00! Comfy leather seating. Great quiet atmosphere. Reasonable food($ 7.00 for small soft drink and small popcorn and one free refil on each). It’s a nice date night without breaking the bank. Full bar(but don’t drink too much because those leather seats will put you to sleep)!. I really enjoyed it and I plan to go back.

Moolah is my favorite theater in St. Louis. I know this may sound like a stretch but sorry… I like what I like. The building itself is an amazing structure(just 1 of many St. Louis has to offer.) The interior is just as beautiful. There’s a full bar to lounge in before of after a viewing. The bowling alley in the basement is super cool; especially for groups, private events or a date night. There is also a full bar in this area. The actual theater has the most relaxing sofa seating in town! I can literally sleep here… I have slept here lol. But these seats tend to be the first to go, so if you prefer the faux leather seats arrive early during special features or you’ll be forced in the rock hard, close quarter folding chairs. There is reserve seating upstairs on the balcony as well. After a showing a rep will be at the door holding a basket filled with mints and tootsie rolls to offer guests as a parting gift. TAKEONE! and move on please…

This is the best place to see a movie in St. Louis. Hands down. I’m a local and have been to all of the other niche theaters. Tivoli is good. High Point is nostalgic, but Moolah has the best screen, couches, and bartender you could ever wish for. Behind the bar, Sean has new movie-themed cocktails every weekend as well as 5 micro-brew taps and a few dozen bottles. They also serve Dogtown pizza and have bowling downstairs! Get here early for the best pick of couches!

How did I not know about this place?!? First off, the building is stunningly beautiful I could be late to the movie because all I wanna do is take pictures of it. Second, we went to a movie before 5p on a week day and it was only $ 5 per ticket! Third, forget about chair. Think big, comfy COUCHES! My one and only complaint was that the sound in the theatre was just a little too loud for me. I’m hoping it was just because it was an action movie and next time it will be different.

The Moolah lounge is such a beautiful and unique theater. The couches are amazing and comfortable and they always have a good movie playing, not to mention it’s very affordable. Although they are different than a lot of other theaters because they only show one movie at a time, I think that it gives it a unique and old-timey feature!

This is easily the best theater in town. First(and most obviously), the COUCHES! There are both leather and non-leather couches located all throughout the theater. What could be better than watching a new release as if you’re in the comfort of your own home? Personally, I just love being able to lie completely vertical during movies. These couches are so comfortable that I fell asleep during my first movie at the Moolah, which means that now I have to fill up on coffee beforehand. The only downside about the couches is that during peak times, you have to get here about 30 minutes early to make sure you can snag a couch. Otherwise, you’ll get stuck in a normal movie seat chair(booooo!). In addition to amazing couches, the Moolah has a full bar right when you walk in, which includes several reasonably priced cocktails starting at $ 6 a piece. I love that their cocktails correspond with the movie being shown. For example, today the cocktails were named after all of the factions in Divergent. In addition to the cocktails, there is also a wide selection of movie snacks, including Ted Drewes ice cream. Yay! In terms of price, the Moolah is pretty reasonable. For example, all movies before 5PM are $ 5. They also have $ 5 movies all day Wednesday, which is nice. Finally, they have a pretty good student discount at $ 7 a movie ticket. The only downside to the Moolah is there is only one screen and that one screen frequently shows movies that are more action-based(e.g., The Fast and the Furious). As a result, I often have to wait weeks to see a movie that is more up my alley(e.g., The Hunger Games). But hey… if you’re more into action, then this place is probably perfect for you. All in all, great seats, pretty good snack choices, and a decent selection of movies.

One of my favorite theaters in STL to visit! Very clean and great architecture to look at. Love the fact that there’s couches you can sit in to watch the movie… but not all couches are good seats. You have to arrive early to get a good spot! The bar outside the theatre is always fun! They usually play old versions of the movie that’s currently showing. And sometimes they’ll do themed drinks that go along with the movie currently playing. And they’ll let you take drinks into the theatre! Movie ticket prices are reasonable and the theatre does have 3D capability for 3D movies.
