Love this place so much. Friendly, casual staff that know a lot of regulars by name. I bring everyone I can from work here because it’s so delicious. Sign up for the text club! You get a text every work day, but they’re totally worth it. Get the potato bacon soup, and pretty much any sandwich on the menu is fantastic. You’ll want to go back over and over again. Also, if you’re in the city – check out their sister restaurant Layla for unbelievable burgers/shwarma/shakes, and get the kale chips.

Order of service at Maria’s Deli: 1. People on the phone 2. Regulars 3. Anyone else It’s a hard thing to penalize an establishment for its customers, but unavoidable in this case. While the cashier was very apologetic at the people muscling ahead of others in line, and was put in a terrible position to either offend someone who spends money regularly or offend a new person, it was still infuriating to be ignored in favor of the six orders that were called in or given by people who pushed aside the person waiting. The sandwiches were okay, but not worth the experience or a return trip.

Great spot for lunch before we headed to the airport! Great sandwiches and salads for a great price. I got a half a turkey hoagie and half a spinach salad.

AMAZING!!! Super friendly and reasonably priced. Asked about joining the club for 20% off and also joining their rewards program. The meat is so fresh and cooked well. Warm sandwiches … Tastes delicious. Well done. I will be back again and again. Thank you so much for this hidden gem. Apparently the owner has a place near Tower Grove area that specializes in gourmet burgers, maybe called Layla’s. Not sure if that’s true, but I will add it to my list of places to try. Seriously thank you!

Maria’s has the very best veggie sandwich in the world! It is tasty and filling. Everyone needs to try it, even the meat eaters! The staff is helpful and personable and makes everyone feel at home! Go there!

Awesome American-owned/operated. You do business with Maria. Food is the real deal. Good portions for a reasonable price and genuinely friendly service! Busy with the locals and almost always on duty law officers, which is a sign of good food. Try it and you’ll be back. Note to Maria: you can ease up on the salt and basil in the tomato soup. Otherwise it’s awesome

Okay so b I pulled a night shift last night so I can work with my staff. Got off at 10 am thinking I was going straight down to the Parade in Dogtown. Ot! I was so sleepy and the BF stopped here for a hot sandwich and drink to wake me up. Did it ever! I had a foot long ham and cheese and although I didn’t have mayo on it, the mustard worked just fine. The sandwich was made to order, fresh and warm. The bread was soft and a little grilled it was good and hit the spot. I normally don’t don’t subs, but this one takes the cake! I will go back and see if I can get bacon on a sandwich, lol.

I went here today to grab myself and a couple of friends some subs… I went in 30 minutes before they closed something I normally wouldn’t do in a restaurant but since it was a deli I figured it wasn’t that big of a deal and it wasn’t… it was completely dead inside… I got the smokehouse turkey — Ranch and my friends both got the French dip… It wasn’t the best sandwich I have had but it was very good and I love the fact that the bacon was crispy… I go to a lot of delis… A couple of my favorites are blues city deli and potbelly to give you an idea of what kind of sandwiches I think are good… Anyways my friends both loved the French dip and we all thought the bread was good and toasted but still soft… The couple running the place are extremely friendly! Everyone there joked around but not in an annoying not doing your job type way they seem to like their work and you can tell it… It’s good to find a decent Deli within driving distance of overland because these areas seem to be lacking in anything decent as far as restaurants go… These subs are enormous and any normal human couldn’t possibly eat over a half of one… Out of the three of us no one made it past half and we had no sides or chip… So in my opinion compared to all the delis I have been to you get a lot of bang for your buck! Btw this place does look like it could use a fresh coat of paint but it doesn’t really bother me…

This deli is not too far from where I work, so I stopped by for a sandwich the other day when I forgot to bring my lunch. When I walked in, I saw a big menu on the wall of their specialty sandwiches as well as a small selection of breakfast items(which I understand they just started offering). There are no descriptions of the sandwiches on that menu, but there was a more detailed menu posted on the window by the door. I chose to get the smokehouse special, which consisted of smoked ham, turkey, applewood smoked bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce, tomato, onions, and smokehouse ranch served hot on an Asiago cheese hoagie. It was delicious! They didn’t skimp on the meat, you could taste the slices of bacon, and it was juicy and wonderful and tasty with all of the flavors together. The lady at the register and the guy in the back making the food seemed like nice people. They weren’t extremely friendly to me(not unfriendly, either, though), but I could tell that they had a good relationship with regulars when some other customers came in later. I would definitely return to try more of their sandwiches and probably their soup, too!

Maria’s deli is as old school deli shoppe(yes shoppe with a ‘pe’, lol) as it gets and its such a delight! The daily sandwich specials are a great deal and are all delicious, $ 7.95(i think) for the sandwich(which is enough for a reasonable meal by itself), a side((potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, cookie, brownie all house made) or chips) and a drink. Their specials sandwiches are all great, some hot, some cold, but it is actually an old school style sandwich shop so they have all the requisite offerings available to creative whatever delicious meat monster you can dream up. Their pride of product and process in evident in everything that comes out of the kitchen and the prices reflect a desire to produce quality food for regular people at a reasonable and universally accessible price-point. Try Maria’s out today and support the small guy, you will not be disappointed.

Love nearly everything I’ve ever had here for lunch — my favorites are their meatball sub and muffaletta sandwich. If you get their daily special, for $ 7.25 you get the sandwich, choice of side(potato salad, cold pasta salad, cole slaw, bag of chips, chocolate chip cookie or brownie), and a drink. For $ 1 more, you can make your side a side salad. The cookies are a decent size and the perfect level of softness. Jason(the main guy in the kitchen) truly cares about serving a good product that tastes great. He and his employees don’t just want to slop something between two pieces of bread and send you on your way so they can move onto the next order. The place definitely has more character than a little franchise sub shop. If you like an emotionally-sterile environment with no personality or occasional human interaction, then you might prefer somewhere else. If there’s a line due to their popularity, you might wait a few minutes to place your order, but definitely not any longer than a chain shop with a line. I’d rather support a local place with character and great food, than a chain where you have to watch their every move to make sure they get the right ingredients. You can see some sandwich pictures on their facebook page.

Great little place! Driving in to the city from the airport, I’ve made a detour to this place twice now, and I’m not disappointed. Maria runs the counter and is friendly and efficent. I think the prices are fair — it’s a custom sandwich, and the half size is decent, and the meat portion is big. Half was about $ 4.50. I’m pretty in love with a hot turkey and cheddar on sourdough! There is a pretty regular local crowd, and they’re all chatty about their kids and social events — sure gives the place a welcoming feel. But I can’t stress enough of the desserts that they offer — the lady that bakes them is a good baker — I can’t get enough of these cupcakes. One of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had is only $ 2 each, and there are always new flavors, such as lavendar raspberry, watermelon, and the yummy key lime pie. The brownies and cookies are large, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’ve been ruined by the cupcakes.

Awesome soups, sandwiches, desserts, and an incredible staff. It is owner operated, which gives you a very personal experience and immense quality in the food they offer. I’ve had a terrific experience each and every time I’ve been.

I was running errands at a mom and pop place in Overland and asked for a restaurant recommendation. They told me about Maria’s. Great choice! Today’s special was Open Faced Roast Beef Sandwich. A mound of homemade mashed potatoes on top of yummy roast beef on top of a toasted hogie bun with a generous helping of dark tasty gravy. Great comfort food and reasonable to boot. The place is small and from the outside does not look like much. But the staff were warm and inviting and I was very happy I stopped in. Interesting group of folks in and out during our meal. Lots of carry outs. Seating inside is for about 12 so it is small. I can hardly wait to go back and try one of their breakfast sandwiches.

Hidden Jewel. My husband used to work nearby and LOVED Maria’s. On occasion I met him for lunch. Maria and her husband own the quaint little deli. It only has about 10 tables and the space is small but the food and the company is fantastic. It is one of those strange places where business executives, cops, nurses, truckers etc.. . can enjoy a hardy lunch and conversation. The regulars seem to often have conversations that include the whole restaurant. Imagine«Cheers» in a tiny little deli off of the Rock Road. I always get a the fantastic veggie sandwich, my husband likes to switch it up and get everything from the meatloaf to the brisket sandwich. Ask for the specials they are usually really good. Maria is more health conscious so although you will be paying more for your sandwich than at McDonald’s you will actually be getting fresh real food ingredients; fresh breads, fresh veggies, better cuts of meat etc.. .

So this is a little Deli right by my work that I had high hopes for. I thought if it was good and reasonably priced I could eat there often for lunch. My sandwich was decent but nothing special. The staff was a little less then friendly. I had to wait for 5 min at the counter while the clerk finished talking to the chief(for lack of a better word) about a party the night before. It was a little expensive my sandwich was over 8 buck with tax and that was just a sandwich no chips or drink, and as I mentioned earlier it was decent but not great. I probably won’t be returning to this place.
