How can I try every sandwich? I was talking sandwiches with an acquaintance the other day, and my brain always goes to Blues City Deli. However, my friend insisted that I should try LeGrand, so I did! I just happened to be driving down Chippewa that day, so I decided to swing into the market and try the sandwiches. What I didn’t know is that they have EVERYSANDWICH. The possibilities are endless at LeGrand. I was told to try The Legend, but against the advice of one of the workers, I went with the LeGrand Special: roast beef, turkey, and corned beef with cheddar cheese. Hot or cold? I went hot, but they threw my meat and cheese into a microwave?! Like I was at frickin’ Subway or something. Altogether, the sandwich was good. Good but not great. However, I am not deterred from going back and trying more options. While I was not surprised that LeGrand didn’t quite meet the BCD test, I was impressed by the market overall. You can try different sandwich options until the cows come home. Or the turkeys, the chickens, and the pigs, for that matter! Also, the market has an impressive craft beer selection and could be an option when I don’t feel the need to run down to Friar Tuck’s. Hold steady, my Yeeps. People love LeGrand, and I can see why. I will definitely come back and try something else. As I should!

Eat here if you want a good sandwich in St Louis. It’s not a fancy place, more like a small market with a deli inside. Has an old school feeling to it, and everybody that works there is super friendly. Had the Legend, loved it, now I recommend to others all the time :)

Love this place. It may be because I was pretty hungry or because it prompts childhood memories of city food stores, but it’s exactly the type of place capable of being 5 stars when you appreciate the atmosphere. I had the Chicken Legrand, because Harper had it and I do like 1000 island and it is a big list so picking it made my choice easy and it was very good. Great friendly service, plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. I generally avoid delis these days because of bread and the meats, but once in awhile I gotta go and Legrands is very worthy.

Good sandwich! I ordered the Chicken LeGrand. I got this sandwich cold and on white bread. Service was a little slow but I would still go back again. The menu is huge. This place is a market and deli as well so there is more to do than just order a sandwich.

First time I’ve been here and all my years of living in St. Louis. When here for a Girl Scout cookie booth. I have heard about this place over the years, but never have made my way through here. It’s small, quaint, a large selection of meats especially sandwiches. You walk right up to play sure order of one of 40 different types of sandwiches. Holy cow there are a lot. The place filled up super quick to place orders. There are tables and chairs in the middle of the store along with some benches outside. What a great day to be outside. The staff were super friendly and VERY efficient. Boneless skinless farm raised chicken breast $ 2.99/lb!!! Are you kidding me. Wow the meat selection and cuts looked superb. Nice array of brats/sausages as well for those lovers as well. We had lunch before heading down today but next time we are out here we are getting a sandwich from here. Nice market as well. Check out is quick. Everyone seems to know everyone and the place makes you feel happy. Tons of kids kneeling in the chairs(so cute) eating their sandwiches. Everyone was so pleasant and happy. What a great place. How I’ve missed it in the past beats me but I’m glad we came here today. I would give 5 stars but since we didn’t purchase or eat only had free smells and growling bellies I will leave it at 4 and upgrade with an official purchase

Oh my god. I’m extremely pregnant, just moved to St. Louis a month ago, and sent my husband here this morning for sandwiches. I couldn’t decide what to get so I went with two: the Legend, hot on wheat, and the chicken Legrand, cold. They’re both every bit as good as the reviews say, and I was admittedly very skeptical because I’m picky even when I’m NOT pregnant. My favorite is the Legend, if you can handle a little spice in your mouth, you must try it asap! My husband said the hot ham and Provel was amazing too. We live close by and will probably be regulars to both the deli and market. Husband said the store was really cute on the inside. Love finding local places like this!

One of my favorite places to grab a deli sandwich in all of St. Louis(only better in my opinion is Blues City Deli). You see them cut the meat right there and it is so fresh and delicious. They also have a little grocery with small items. In the refrigerator section, they have a small selection Dogtown Pizzas.

The nostalgia is strong with this one, guys. I have been coming here since I was a kid and it is by far my favorite sandwich shop in the city of St.Louis. There are sooooo many sandwich options here and each one I have had the pleasure of trying has been AH-MAZING! The service is fast and friendly — beware it does get incredibly busy during the lunch rush(even in the middle of the week). The Salsa Legrand is my favorite thing on the menu, but it does pack some heat. I also ordered my wedding cake from here last summer and it was both delicious and price friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this place! It’s definitely worth putting on your to-do list next time you’re in St. Louis Hills. An added bonus, it’s right down the street from Ted Drewes ;)

This place is amazing! The staff. The food. The staff. The food. Can’t go wrong with this place. Never had anything I didn’t love! From the sandwiches and the meat. It’s all amazing. Walk in and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Our business received an excellent state report, and I wanted to treat our staff. At 10 am, I called Legrand’s to see if I could get five monster sub sandwiches by noon. Roger said no problem. I went to pick up the sandwiches at noon and they were ready! And delicious! They cut them into two inch pieces and each piece was secured with a party toothpick! Legrand’s packaged the lettuce, toma1to, pickles, and onions in separate containers! And they carried the boxes out to my car for me What service! What great food! I had considered going to a national brand sandwich shop, and am I glad I didn’t. They staff at Legrand’s provided excellent service and great food! Shop local, small businesses and you receive great service!

Such a great family and awesome service by all employees. I love the Chicken LeGrand! *Drool*. Used them for a quick order of fries chicken for a party I was supposed to bring a dish to, but forgot last minute. These guys saved the day! Also I check out the groceries when I don’t feel like fighting the crowds or parking at Schmuck’s.

Great market that has an awesome sandwich counter. Sandwiches are a little more than $ 6 a piece and are stacked with meat and great home made sauces. Also great butcher counter. Grab lunch and make plans for dinner while you’re here. Awesome steaks and bbq supplies.

Very busy but very efficient, too. I went at noon on a Wednesday and the line was almost out the door but the whole process took maybe 15 minutes. Basically enough time for me to look over their extensive menu. I thought for sure it would be longer but they kept churning out sandwiches like a bunch of pros. When I left(so 1220-ish) the line was even longer! My husband, a south city boy, has loved this place for a long time and I can see why. We ordered: LeGrand’s special — typically cold, so that’s how I ordered it — but it wasn’t as satisfying as the warm sandwich. Show me club — mmm, mmm GOOD! Turkey & Swiss — standard but delicious at that. They have their detailed menu online, take-out menus as soon as you open the door, or listed on the wall below where they make the sandwiches. You order your sandwich either hot or cold(on the menu it will say«try it warm» if that’s how it can be ordered), & white or wheat. You receive your sandwich and then go to the other side of the store to pay. My ONLY(albeit minor) issue was that the brown paper bag she gave me for my 3 sandwiches and 2 bottles of water immediately ripped as soon as I got to my car. Sandwiches and waters all over the street. Whoops. Kind of a bummer but my sandwiches were unharmed so all is good. Anyway, highly recommended. Staff were very friendly!!! Parking plentiful!

This is one of my favorite deli’s in the area. The sandwiches are excellent and a great value. The space is part deli and part grocery store but there are several tables where you can sit and enjoy your sandwich. They have a few dozen sandwiches to choose from and I can tell you I’ve had four of them and each was excellent. If you like deli sandwiches I highly recommend this place.

This place is so St. Louis it is where Provel when to high school. We’re talking old school, blue collar St. Louis. Mom’s gets all the glory, but don’t forget about this place, which is more like dad’s deli than mom’s. Almost comical that it practically sits in the lap of a Jimmy Johns. They will be guardedly friendly to you if you come here, but they will know you’re not from this neighborhood, no matter how down you act. Their massive array of menu options will overwhelm you, and you will never remember the name of the damn sandwich you ordered last time that you loved, but who cares? You can’t really go wrong here. Ask what their most popular sandwiches are and order those. A lot of them are spicy, but in such a good way. You will be craaaaaaaving that shit for the rest of the week. These sandwiches will haunt your pathetic, 9 – 5, lunch break dreams. You are ten times more likely to «forget» to bring your lunch to work once you’ve had one of these sandwiches. And you will never, ever, ever tell your co-workers about this place, because you don’t want to become the office sandwich bitch, humping 50 orders of subs back every day. This place is Blues City Deli without the tourists and where the blues aren’t sung out loud. Going to this hidden gem will make you feel like an outsider looking in, like you’ve stumbled upon some sort of prehistoric St. Louis family portrait.

Okay so I’m a Shaw/Benton Park girl and Le Grand’s is kind of like my deli mistress in South City. Totally worth it. First off huge menu. HUGE. Maybe take a minute and study beforehand. There are also print menu’s near where the line queue’s up. Oh and there is a decent chance there will be a line. Don’t run away. Stay put and give your order to one of the teenage boys working the counter. Then step back and take it all in. Everyone in South City comes here and they all know each other. Makes for excellent people watching. Food: They have something for everyone. I’m partial to the Chicken LeGrand: Chicken, Ham, Provel, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, 1000 Island Dressing. I’m such a sucker for 1000 Island Dressing. Still working my way through the menu but everything I have has been very good. A little heavy on the cured meats but again I’m in a deli, so of course… Chips, soda, and most other lunch type snack foods available. This is a functional small grocery store/caterer/deli counter so restaurant ambiance is minimal which is exactly how it should be in a proper deli establishment. Most people carry out but there are numerous tables inside and out. Parking shouldn’t ever be an issue. I say go visit. Just don’t tell your other deli.

Wow. How have I failed to review LeGrand’s? I have had a sandwich, and it was fine, but this review is for one thing, and one thing only: The Magic that is a LeGrand’s Brat. If I were facing the gallows and had to choose a last meal, say, five things or so, a LeGrand’s original brat would easily be the second or third thing on that list. I prefer the original, though I have had many of their special flavors and they are excellent as well. Cook them SLOW on indirect heat. They are huge. The casing will puff up and you can see the juices boiling inside. That first bite… wow. Magical. These are easily the best brats I have ever had. Ever ever ever ever. I have tried quite a few other butchers in town just to experiment, and LeGrand’s literally laps the competition. No one else is even close! Also, the owners are fantastic. Have met them many time through friends of ours who go to church down the street. They are honest guys with great personalities, doing what they love.

That’s a big sandwich for such a small price! I have only been once, and the sandwich options are many. I have only tried the LeGrand Chicken so far, which was good, but I’m still searching for THE sandwich here. This is Boar’s Head deli meat. I didn’t think we’d tell much difference, but we did. If I remember correctly, I had a giant sandwich for something like $ 5. We ate our sandwiches outside and then went back in to get some Volpi salami, the best maple ham I’ve ever had, and some killer smoked cheddar to take home.
