I stopped in for a drink & ordered the blackberry margarita. Yummy! Enjoyed the enchiladas, chicken & cheese. Very tasty. If you are gluten free you can’t have the chips as they are fried in the same oil as their flour items. Will be back with friends

First time having lunch here and am so glad we chose this place. The service was Spot On, friendly & professional. The drinks done well, the food exceded my expectations. The black beans cooked well & thankfully not smashed. We will definitely be back, it’s a hidden gem!

Popped into Latitude 26 after a few drinks at a nearby bar to enjoy the outdoor patio seating and an appetizer. They have pretty dang good chips and salsa(chips came out hot and fresh both times). We shared an entrée sized nachos with the brisket, and it was really tasty! None of us had a full on entrée though, but I would definitely go back to try.

I almost feel a bit embarrassed for thinking the fajitas here were up with the best in town at one point. We’ve since been back a couple times, and sadly we have never been impressed again with Latitude. The last time was on Cinco De Mayo, and whereas normally you’d expect any Mexican place to be overwhelmed, they were merely steady. Thus, this gave them no excuse to have painfully sluggish service, and very obviously precooked fajitas. I know this because they came out WAY too quickly to have been cooked to order, and also because the chicken was tough(as cooked chicken breast does after sitting around for a good while). Also, lacking in flavor across the board. We had decided to just enjoy the patio and have a round of margaritas before ordering and we’re sure to politely let the waitress know. But it was hard to get her attention again after that. She never came by to check on anything. Once the food came I was so hungry by that time I’d eaten about 1⁄3 of my small portion of chicken and would’ve felt too guilty to complain. Wife had the veggie fajitas and was equally disappointed in the flavor and quality. Margs were rather weak and nothing special for $ 6 per. Maybe they pre-made a huge batch expecting to be super-busy? I don’t know– just still no excuse. I really do hate giving bad reviews. But it is what it is. Just very, very disappointing.

Loved it all. Patio dining is available snd food snd drinks were extremely good. The brisket was my favorite but everything exceeded expectations. The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere appealing.

Went there tonight for Dine Out For Life. I liked it. Nice laid back atmosphere, warm interior, nice server, good food. Plus they were giving 25% to a great charity. They have pretty traditional tex mex food and they smoke their meats on sight. We spilt a yummy shrimp appetizer that I could of eaten twice it was so yummy. For dinner I had the veggie fajitas. Loved the cilantro rice and the variety of veggies. Not just onions and green peppers. And corn tortillas. They also have flour if that’s what you like. My sister had a mix up with her dinner but they fixed it right away and she was pleased with her meal. The margaritas were nicely balanced with plenty salt. Just just the way I like them. Living in Dogtown gives me a lot of good food options I’ll be back to this one.

LOVE this place! Have eaten here frequently and every meal has been delicious! The wait staff is always friendly and attentive! These people know how to run a top notch restaurant. They smoke all of their meats themselves and they’re all fabulous! Salsa is perfect! Queso is YUMMY! If you want a GREAT meal, in Dogtown, this is the place!

Brisket Quesadilla is awesome! Our waitress seemed to forget about us though. I’d go back but I’m in no hurry.

Great fish tacos and authentic tex mex, coming from a Texan! However their service was TERRIBLE! I went with 5 friends and we never got our chips or waters refilled and we had to track down the waitress to order shots and food. I won’t be going back here any time soon.

I’ve been here a couple times and it is really good food. Both times I sat on the patio so I’ve never really had the inside experience, but I’m sure it’d be the same. The margaritas aren’t too bad, the food is delicious, and the wait staff is friendly. Seeing as the only other mexican(and I use that word loosely in describing this other place) in the area I’ve found is taco bell, this place is tops for this type of food. The Pros: Good food, nicely priced, good wait staff, good margaritas(not the best but good) The Cons: One night a large group of friends and I stopped by(about 15 of us) and there was only one other table of people in the whole place. They couldn’t seat us because they didn’t have the room and said it’d take 15 minutes at least. We ended up leaving.

Shatasdogbowl Review… For those in St. Louis who have not been here you are missing out on some of the best Tex-Mex this little doggy has had in years! All of their meats are smoked in house. The beef brisket is melt in your mouth tender, the chicken juicy and perfectly cooked, the pork out of this world and all of its smokiness just adds to the amazing flavors presented on each plate. I of course with my mouth watering and paws trembling with anticipation couldn’t decide on what to order, so I did what any one in my situation would do, I ordered«The Latitude» which included beef brisket nachos, chicken taco, and a chile relleno with beans and rice. Everything was perfectly prepared right down to the homemade corn tortillas. If you have a love affair with Tex Mex food as I do and find yourself in St. Louis, Latitude 26 Smokehouse is a must. Oh did I mention that the salsa is some of the best I’ve had in years. With love from my dog bowl to yours — happy eating. Five Paws

Food, service, atmosphere all mediocre on their best days. The main dining room has a very weird paint choice. All in all Latitude 26 looks like it can’t decide if it wants to be a restaurant or club. Be a restaurant.

This is a review I hadn’t finished from February… My date suggested we try this joint, as he has a very fond affinity for Houston and Tex-Mex. The layout and décor was inviting and comfortable — they even had a fireplace. There was nothing left to remind you that it was once Chuy’s. We were seated immedately — 6:30 on a Saturday night and only one table? Perhaps it was because Mardi Gras was taking place, but the bar across the street and Seamus were both jam packed. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable, and brought me out a sample of the enchilada«gravy» as I’d never had it before. Very tasty! I ended up ordering three tacos — one brisket, one shredded chicken and one ground beef. There was nothing special about the food — it was okay, but didn’t blow me away. We also ordered the chile con queso, again for that Tex-Mex feel, and it was pretty darn good. What did stand out, aside from the renovations, were the chips. They were flavored with some sort of spiced salt, and they wre very tasty. The salsa was roasted and delicious. I probably won’t go back, as my loyalties lie with Pueblo Solis, but I would recommend this for someone who wanted to experience a Tex-Mex meal.

Great food & environment w/good service. We really enjoyed their food. With our family being vegetarian we are always on the quest for good food. Latitude 26 has a nice selection of vegi options that are all freshly made. Everything we ordered was really good! Ordered their homemade sangria which was very good. Service got a little slow toward the end of our meal and one of the appetizers which we ordered that was offered as their special menu ended up not being available since they couldn’t make it in enough time. They do have a nice outdoor patio area as well.

Was excited to hear about a new tex-mex restaurant in dogtown. Went there the other night with a few friends and left a bit disappointed. The décor was fantastic and surprisingly modern for a tex-mex joint. The free chips and salsa were also a nice touch so hopes were high. The disappointment started when we ordered a Margarita pitcher. While the margaritas tasted delicious, they packed NO punch. I felt like I might as well have been drinking lime flavored kool-aid. The food was similarly disappointing. I had the Flatas with beef brisket. This was essentially a quesadilla wrapped into a roll shape. Sadly, I found the brisket to be dry and lacking flavor. The ratio of cheese to meat was also a bit off in my opinion(too heavy on the meat). The delicious and juicy slow simmered pork and beef that I have come to love at Mexican restaurants was nowhere to be found. My friends also had similar issues with the meat in their dishes. Finally, one friend ordered the Chiles Relleno and was disappointed as they limp and absolutely SMOTHERED in cheese to the point of the plate consisting largely of melted cheese. She had to push gobs and gobs of cheese to the side to eat her stuffed peppers. One thing I cannot complain about Latitude is the price or the service. The prices seemed very reasonable to me, and the service was good throughout our evening there. The food needs work. If you want mediocre tex-mex food and even cheaper drinks that actually have alcohol in them, I suggest St. Louisans check out Mi Ranchito near the loop(although you will have to make sacrifices in décor and service).

I’m sad to say that the stars went down for my return visit. This place is truly Tex-Mex for beginners. The night of Abby’s farewell they must have been on their best behavior, because what I saw today for lunch was poor. Let’s start off with the service, one waiter maybe four tables being served and he kept forgetting simple things. We had to ask for water, three times. He seemed to be pre-occupied with other duties and it wasn’t giving needed attention to his tables. He also, had a hard time understanding that we wanted the Tamales as an appetizer. He kept telling us, it was an entrée. We had to explain to him that we knew that, but wanted to experience the tamales. He finally got his head wrapped around it and allowed us to order them as an appetizer. We should have listened to him and not ordered them at all. They were no were near traditional tamales. They were over stuffed, any one who has had true tamales know they are not suppose to be bursting at the seams from their stuffing’s. The pork inside was extremely dry and no flavor. We were surprised that the menu did not offer the opportunity to create our own combination platters, but went with the flow and ordered both The Latitude and Longitude. Latitude: Beef Brisket Nachos, Cheese Chile Relleno, Soft Chicken Taco. Longitude: Tostado, Crispy Ground Beef Taco, Chicken Enchilada. The only items worth while out of the two platters were; the Beef Brisket Nachos and the Chicken Enchilada. I/we were truly disappointed, we wanted a new mexican restaurant to visit and we will not be back to this one.

Things I love about Latitude: — Awesome space for events! Kelli was so nice and helpful in arranging an event there. — Queso dip is delicious! — Margaritas are amazing! One of my top 2 in the STL for sure. No mix taste here, not too sweet, and they have several flavors for those of you who, like me, like girly flavors! — Food is yummy and huge portions! — Staff is friendly and efficient — even though there were a large group of us, the server was always there just when you needed a new drink and brought it to you fast! — Price is more than reasonable. I definitely would hold another event here or just pop in for a yummy drink!

Kelli and the rest of the staff at Latitude 26 outdid themselves last night. Such personable service and great Tex Mex. What more could a girl ask for? Thank you to Sarah S for making all the arrangements for the fiesta and to all the Unilocalers who made it out in the cold to celebrate. It was a fun night! And seriously — apple pie inside a cake? That’s crazy!

Something about Latitude 26 seems incomplete. A big part is probably that it’s a Tex Mex restaurant, but the only decoration indicating this are a few cheap sombrero’s strewn about. The margaritas tasted good, but we’re not sure there was much tequila in them after finishing off a pitcher. They tasted like limeade pretty much, like you’d get from a carton at the grocery store. They were served in a plastic pitcher with water glasses, which I don’t mind, but again, I’d kind of expect a glass pitcher and margarita glasses for a this kind of place. We had three dishes at our table: Fish Tacos, Beef Brisket and Enchiladas. They were all good to very good. The brisket dish was kind of weird. Picutre a plate covered in orange melted cheese, which tablespoons of pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole dropped on the edges, along with a pile of shredded beef that reminded me a lot of homemade chuck roast. The beef tasted great, but the dish overall was ugly and weird. The enchiladas were all tasty, although the chicken was dry. The service was very friendly and attentive. We weren’t real impressed and we probably won’t go back since it’s not terribly convenient or cheap, but if you like Tex Mex, go ahead and give it a try. There is some tasty food coming out of their kitchen.

I’ve been here twice and ordered the same thing. The chicken fajita salad is great for someone who is trying to watch their weight. Extremely tasty chicken on shredded lettuce. I luv the shredded stuff & hate having to cut it in other salads. I get the dressing on the side which is a perfect companion to the chicken and doesn’t over power the flavors. Then I add salsa as my main dressing for a healthier version. They have great chips. Always fresh and the right thickness. Salsa is ordinary but good. Service has been great. Prices are on the higher side for Mexican but I’m used to $ 1.39 tacos on Cherokee. This has a great vibe and patio. The high ceilings allow for loud talking, but you’re still able to hear everyone at your table. Love the vibe over all. Much better than Chuey’s was, but I was never a fan of them. It’s my new fav place for the summer.

My overall impression of Latitude 26 is Zzzzzzz… It’s not bad — it’s just boring… I found the food to be bland, other than the tortilla chips, which are phenomenal. I tried the chicken and beef brisket tacos with green(tomatillo) sauce. The quality of the meat was good — very tender — but overall the tacos had little flavor and there was not enough sauce. Portions are large, so my meal was a good value, despite my taste buds not being blown away. Service was fine(we sat at the bar), but they weren’t very busy. The décor is sparse, rendering the overall atmosphere a bit«cold.» The margaritas are excellent, but the happy hour has some major kinks. According to the«special offer» posted here on Unilocal and according to their Twitter, their happy hour runs from 5 – 7. Not so… the happy hour is only from 5 – 6. I complained, and the bartender gave us the happy hour pricing despite it being 6:30, which was very nice of him. But management: please don’t falsely advertise(and don’t have a happy hour that is only 1 hour long!).

So I’ve had a few experiences with this place, it’s about Unilocaling time… MY first visit was a dine-in a few months back. I remember getting the shrimp rojo as an appetizer and being very impressed by it. It wasn’t huge but it was packed with flavor. I can’t recall my other dishes but overall I was happy w/this place. The second time was for take-out, I ordered the taco platter and got one chicken, one ground beef, and one brisket. I really liked the soft corn tortillas which seemed somewhat rustic. The tacos were all very tasty but really nothing stood out. However I was very impressed with the HUGE portion of chips and salsa they gave me! I wasn’t even expecting it but they give you a TON of tortilla chips with every takeout order. Like, way more than one person should ever eat. You’d probably pay 2 – 3 bucks at Schnucks for the chips alone. Not sure if they are housemade, but they are very good chips. And then there’s the salsa, they give you an entire bowls worth in a plastic container. The salsa is great, definitely on the sweet side, but with a good touch of heat. I hate when mexican restaurants give mild salsa, but that was no problem here. Also, you can reuse the salsa container when you’re done with it. Bonus! Then yesterday I got the chicken fajitas for take out. Wow, absolutely delicious. The chicken was moist and flavorful, high-quality, and there was a LOT of it, easily 2 meals worth. Packed with the chicken was rice, beans, and peppers/onions mix. This stuff was decent. In the second container was a lovely assortment of lettuce, tomatoes, guac, cheese, sour cream, and the corn tortillas. The guac was OK but I was hoping for something more. I really appreciate how well everything was packed and not just thrown together. And once again I got the chips and salsa(almost thought the first time was a fluke). Also I was glad to see the place almost full at 9pm on a Friday night. There’s a nice vibe here. It’s not some cheesy Mexican joint with sombreros and crap hanging everywhere. The décor is pretty modern, with dim lighting. Overall this place has great food, good prices, and a nice atmosphere. I’m withholding the fifth star for now but it might come out in the future.
