The restaurant is decorated really nicely. The staff was really helpful and friendly. The food was okay. I got the sesame chicken which was decent. The salads come with ginger unless you tell them not to. My biggest gripe is the price. The cheapest thing on the menu was double the price of most other Japanese restaurants. If the price was cheaper I would have given a better review but for the price and amount of food you get I would say that they are an average place.

My favorite restaurant. Amazing food, descent bar, and entertaining service. The price is high, but you get what you pay for. Great for a date or business dinner.

12th floor view, but nothing special — but still nice. I would def. make reservations on weekdays and especially on the weekends! It’s in the starbucks building with lots of offices. So I don’t generally like hibachi grills — unless it’s with a group of people. You are really going for booz, atmosphere, entertainment vs. the food. The food wasn’t bad– but nothing to rave about. Pros: 1) Excellence service — but make sure you have reservations 2) M-Th mention their internet special(2 person meal for $ 30) and you can choose from a variety of items like shrimp, steak, etc. 3) Relatively large portions 4) Cold/hot Sake and very inexpensive. Hot is only plain and cold can have infusions. Cons: 1) Sauces. Hot was not hot, sweet was not sweet. 2) If you have real allergies, this isn’t your type of place 3) Steak was a little tough, but the shrimp was good I would come here again, but I’m not going to go out of my way. For hibachi, this def. hits the spot.

I like this place a lot. Second visit there and the latest was on a weekday(Monday), the place was not as packed as it is on the weekends. Our party of 4 was able to get seated right away, without any reservations. However, if you do go on the weekends, make sure you have a reservations and that your party gets there on time, this will prevent silly frustrations. I never go to Japanese grills with the expectation of being wowed by the food, but I think the combination of ambiance, show and food makes such restaurants worthwhile places to visit. Anyway, we went for my sister’s birthday, since she had never been there. She was really happy with the choice. A few other tables were celebrating birthdays/anniversaries as well. It is a great place for that kind of events.

One of the most awesome experiences I’ve have ever had. Food was excellent, the chef(JC)was off the chain. The first time ever coming to a place like this and I’m hooked, even considering it’s kinda pricey. But we’ll worth the experience. Especially if you go with the right group of people.

So this place is fantastic for kids birthdays. The chefs are fun and the food Is amazing. If come you with a family get ready to have some fun with the chef in front of you cooking. The chef cooks in front of so there is 100% guarantee.

This is one of the greatest dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this for any occasion, from business dinners to date night. Speaking on food alone, my meal was great. By the end of the night, I had tried soup, salad, shrimp, chicken, steak, fried rice, noodles, and vegetables all cooked in front of me. Everything listed was excellent. This is not tie place to quietly grab a quick meal. If you’re in the area and looking for a great dining experience, give this a try, I’m confident you’ll be impressed.

This was my first time coming here, we were celebrating Valentines Day! Im typically not a fan of places like this, because I’m a picky eater, but i knew i would be able to eat something, and the experience would be worth it, Its typically not something I’m used to, or comfortable with but I’m always down to try new things. So the seating situation is communal, this is definitely more of a place for large groups of people dining together! You get seated together, served together, pay the bills at the same time, and leave at the same time. You don’t get the sense that your on your own time and leisure. I would also like to state, for the atmosphere there trying to provide, they should really provide glass dishes, the plastic cups, and bowls are just too cheap feeling and looking. So lets start with the menu, its not much, its a very simple menu, you basically pick your meats, then rice type. And the meals all have the same pairings. It started with a clear soup, that was pretty awesome and packed a lot of flavor, i didn’t care for those things floating in there. It tasted like a real chicken broth. Next was this horrible, but edible, thing they called a salad, it was basic iceberg lettuce, few carrot shreds, and ginger dressing or ranch dressing. I went for the classic ranch dressing of course. I feel like when your going to offer a basic salad like that you should at least use made from scratch dressing to make up for the flavor. I mean you do make every other unique sauce you offer there. It just felt as, it was thrown in there to please the demands of the general people that ask for it. Next he started grilling the vegetables, they looked really fresh, i didn’t try them. Then the Rice, Then the meats, Then Noodles with bean sprouts, they all seamed to get the same seasoning and teriyaki sauce. Which just wasn’t much flavor for me. I was really wising they had some Red Pepper, and Sweet and Sour sauce for my Rice, Tobasco Hot sauce, for my chicken and A-1 sauce for my steak, And i would’ve been good. Now the experience and show is all there, they have some nice tricks, and skills. It just sucks that the food is so lack luster that this review had to be wasted pointing out all there flaws. Lets be honest the show is going to be the same, every time, every visit, that won’t change and its a good experience, don’t get me wrong, but the food is what you are going to wanna keep coming back for, and i just don’t feel like Kobe Steak House offers those«Come back Plates» So added another notch on my Unilocal belt, but there won’t be another trip here for me.

We had a special evening planned while visiting from out of town. I grew up in St. Louis and our family used to frequent Kobe when I was younger. Made a reservation a month out and when we arrived(on time and at 5:30pm nonetheless) were told that we had to wait 30 – 45 minutes because 15 people had walked in the door before us. When asked why they even take reservations the manager told me it is just an «estimate». I’m sorry, but a reservation is a reservation and we had to leave as they couldn’t get us in with time(we had 2 hours!) to make our show reservations afterwards. All the theatrics and good food in the world can’t make up for poor business practices. I explained the situation and showed them my confirmation email and the manager just shrugged and said«sorry, that’s too bad».

I went here last night to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. We had a large party(~20 people) so I was very worried about their ability to accommodate us well. I’m somewhat sad to report this was the one thing they were able to do well last night. Because of the size of our party we had 3 different chefs. I can only speak about the chef at my table, but will report the guests with the other two chefs seemed entertained and satisfied. I knew our chef was trouble when he started doing is thing and his spatula went flying off the grill. Next party foul was when he managed to prematurely break one of the eggs for the fried rice, resulting in two people having shells in their rice. Then this guy attempted to entertain us with the lobster tail shells… let’s just say one ended up on the floor. Anyone that’s dined here knows one of the signature things they do is toss shrimp in diners’ mouths. This guy threw shrimp basically everywhere but in someone’s mouth. They ended up behind people, down shirts, and/or in laps. His next, and by far most offensive fail, was when he overcooked our steak. We asked for medium-well, ya know pink line in the middle. Not only was the steak well-done, but it was actually burnt! I asked him to remove it from the grill after watching him cook it WAY past medium-well, only for him to let it stay cooking for another 7 minutes. Mind you, during this time our guest with the other two chefs are paying their checks and having their leftovers boxed. In trying really hard to still enjoy the evening, I «ordered» whatever the birthday thing is called. It took them so long to do it that some of our guests had left and almost everyone else had their coats on(totally not work $ 6). As if things couldn’t have gotten any worse, the bill comes with drinks we didn’t have on it. This was no big deal as I expected it to happen because of the size of our party. She corrects the bill and brings it back and the amount I owe has gone up! To attempt to shorten this tragic tale, it took at least 10 minutes and three different employees to figure out what the problem was. I was so disappointed by the whole experience that I don’t think I will be returning any time soon. I will say that the staff was very friendly, but that didn’t make up for over cooked food and the lack luster performance of the chef. The evening was only saved by being with family and friends… and the look on my boyfriend’s face when they all yelled surprise.

Made same day dinner reservation, we were greeted at the entrance and sat promptly with a good view. Our server was very helpful making me come to a decision, I ordered their Filet & Scallops cooked to perfection medium well and my girlfriend ordered a Veggie Delight and we both opted for fried rice. Our chef was very spontaneous, full of jokes and generous, having me try shrimp and later noodles The atmosphere was good and the food tasted even better except for the rice which had a bit of a garlic overload. I’ve been here before and will definitely keep coming back.

I took my girl to the Kobe Steakhouse last night on a special date night. We had previously tried to make same-day reservations after the Scottish festival, but they were filled up. She had never been there before and, having been there several times myself, I figured this would be an awesome experience for her. Upon arriving, we were taken to our table almost instantly with a separate group of four(it helps that we arrived a minute before our reservation). After being seated, one or two of the older ladies in the separate group began to complain that they had to sit with other people and decided to speak with the manager after raising a little bit of an audible fit within their group. We scoffed indignantly and continued to enjoy the other person’s company. Several minutes later, the manager approached us very kindly and apologetically, asking if he could sit us at a different table, offering free drinks or a free side of shrimp for each of us. We agreed to the move, but decided not to take up the offer. Whether it was a legitimate mistake of the hostess who sat us or, far more likely, the older pain in the neck who was confused about the seating practices of a teppanyaki or «Japanese steakhouse», it was not a huge deal and we are easy-going. Nevertheless, the interaction with the manager was great and is consistent with the half-dozen or so visits to Kobe Steakhouse over the last decade. Nevertheless, this event allowed us to be seated with a younger, more entertaining crowd of the same approximate age. Score. On a side note, the last couple of times I have been here, my party has had the misfortune of being grouped — at least initially — with people who are painfully negative. If you are inclined to «poopoo» every single little thing or your taste buds cannot stand to deviate from the likes of Ruby Tuesday or Hometown Buffet, then keep the seats free for people who can enjoy the experience. Back to the dinner. The chef was great(I think his name was Rob) and had done this style of cooking for nearly a decade(earning a degree while specializing in Hibachi preparation) and manages a tea room in Chesterfield. During the course of the preparation, many of the same jokes are made each time one visits and they are always pretty funny. My girl ordered the salmon and steak with fried rice and I ordered the Filet and Scallops with fried rice as well. The steak was prepared exactly as it was requested for both of us. My scallops were mostly cooked to the right point, save one which could have stood to cook a hair longer, but it was edible and delicious. Both the steak and scallops were savory and almost as if they melted as one chewed through them. Her salmon was sweet and smokey. The shrimp was delicious and well-cleaned — I suck at catching them in my mouth. As for the fried rice, it was delicious, but way too much on top of everything else. They also provide a light soup of broth with scallions, mushrooms, and something else(maybe onions) and a salad with a choice of ginger or a standard dressing. Enjoy the soup and get the ginger dressing. Both are great starters. Four stars are not bad in any way. From the skills and charm of the majority of the chefs to the kindness of the staff, the experience is always stellar. The only time it has ever been tainted was by fellow patrons who couldn’t just enjoy it — not that they were ever justified in both cases. Go. Have fun. Talk to the chef. Clap and laugh.

Showed up on a Sat night for a surprise bday, place was busy. Liked the idea that they had you walled off from other tables so you could enjoy the party your with, instead of being drowned out. Got the salmon and steak, no rice, as people have noted upcharge on the fried rice, everything was competent, cook was good, loose, enjoyed himself with us, typical miso soup, forgettable iceberg crap salad. Don’t know if I would go out of my way to hit this up, park in Westport and go up 12 floors, hey I’m friggin lazy, but it was decent enough. Dropped $ 26 bones(no drink) dinner/tip for just myself. It’s a push.

We visited Kobe Steak House of Japan looking to color outside our box. Note to self: Make Reservation. The service was top notch. Come with a big stomach as you don’t ever stop eating. I had the house special $ 30 which consisted of steak, chicken, and shrimp. Comes with soup, salad, choice of rice. The problem was that it kept freaking coming. There was no end. All the theatrics were cool and all, but holy crap they give you a lot!!! Will definitely return in the future. Thanks Kobe for a great time!

We had the chicken and filet and the teriyaki chicken with fried rice and vegetables and it was all amazing. They cook the food right in front of you so it makes for a good show also. It’s cooked Japanese style but always VERY delicious. The amount of food you get is incredible, I never finish mine. We continue to come here and are never disappointed. They also have a full bar and good margaritas! The menu is pretty big and offers many options of meat and seafood. Overall Satisfaction: 10⁄10 Taste: 10⁄10 Price: $ 20-$ 30 per person Environment: The environment here is very fun and lively. The chefs always put on a great show that’s good for kids. Service: 10⁄10 always a great show!

This place is a great choice for a different dinner. It is very entertaining to watch and interact with the chef, while he is in front of you preparing your meals. I gave 5 stars not because this is a world class restaurant, but because they offer a good value for the money you pay. It is a good time, a looooot of food, cool experience, so yeah, I am definitely going to return here.

If you can overlook the tired décor, smell of old grease, $ 2 fried rice up-charge & mediocre service, you’re in for a decent habachi meal. Kobe is the kind of place you go to when you’re staying at a neighboring hotel and don’t have a car. We’ve all been there, and might even go back!
