I great local bar with amazing food and extremely nice service. They have a Burger special Monday throughly Friday that you can’t pass up. There’re four pool tables, keno and a few games. JP’s is a great place to bring some friends or coworkers for a happy hour or to see some live music.

I specifically picked this place to have my birthday get-together because of the band, Paint the Earth(they were awesome as always). We are huge fans so I went to their website and this is where they were playing so this is where we went. I called in advance to ask for a few tables to be reserved since we had a group of about 20. The person I spoke to was friendly and did offer to reserve the tables. He did tell me up front that a $ 5 cover started at 7, I thought that was a bit early BUT he did tell me and it wasn’t a big deal. Most of my party guests ordered food and I don’t think there was a problem with anyone’s order. Why the 1 star… THEYCHARGEFORWATER! I was seriously appalled! You can only BUY a bottle of water for $ 2 per bottle! If you order food you can buy a soda and get ONE free refill. All of my guests did have cocktails but I think it’s pretty crappy of a place to not allow people FREE water as they are drinking alcohol if they so choose! ORWITHDINNER for that matter! This is a total dive, hole in the wall, type of bar(which are my favorites). We were there on a Saturday night and the place was dead. I don’t know anything about running a sports bar but If they are that dead on a Saturday night with an awesome band playing then I’m guessing other people are not digging their over-priced WATER and drinks either. Over all we did not have a horrible experience and my group did have fun(because of the band) but when I get to a bar and grill at 6:30 in the evening to have dinner and they tell me I have to BUY my water to go with my meal… that’s a NOGO! We will not return.

I went here yesterday after work.(Thursday — 5pm) I ordered a Captain and Diet Coke. It was $ 4.00.($ 5.00 w/tip) Not horrible. The drink was strong, the bartender was very nice(actually both were), was a decent experience. Then I decided I wanted a beer. Wasn’t sure how long I would be there and wanted to be money conscious. I bought a Michelob Golden Draft…$ 4.00!(Which means ANOTHER $ 5.00) Really, really? No Happy hour? Not even on a Thursday? This is a huge place and could be a good place to meet up with friends(if I had more money). There are several pool tables and that would be fun although while outside it was only 77 degrees it was hotter inside even with the fans blowing. Not sure the AC works. A karaōke guy showed up a little later but when I left around 9:30 no one was singing yet. Good idea but maybe instead of having him show up you have a Happy Hour. Just a suggestion. I need to say that I LOVE dive bars but this doesn’t qualify as such. This was just a disappointment.

One of the few non smoking bars in the area and they have a huge dancefloor and stage area for karaōke. $ 12 buckets and hourly shot specials.

Jps corner is great fir gatherings, karaōke on Thursdays, and pain old fun! They have 3 pool tables, games, and great food! I love coming here. The bartender Brittany is amazing! The Dj on Thursdays tries everything he can to make sure you get the songs you want to sing or hear. Friendly atmosphere with great people are always a plus!

Terrible bar! Drinks are ridiculously overpriced! $ 18 buckets and $ 9 shots. Don’t break the bank… drink elsewhere!

This used to be a good place to dance. Now it’s more of a pool hall! The dance floor is small and back in a corner. You have to fight your way to the floor.

Favorite place. Great bands on Wednesday night for no cover and low cover on the weekends. We like the pizza. They always have drink specials. Fun staff. Great place but go early if you want a table.

JP’s is a large very casual bar that is located off of Gravois near 270 in SoCo. It sits off of the road at northbound Gravois at Geyer and it’s easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention. The overall set up is divey, large, open, and not very intimate. The have lots of pool tables and besides live music(W, Fr, Sa, Su) and karaōke(Thursdays), the bulk of the customer base seem to be pool players and leagues. The crowd is all ages, very casual. The food is okay. Mostly freezer to fryer bar food, BBQ, burgers, pizza, etc. They run 99 cent burger specials and $ 1 taco specials at different days and times. JP’s is a good option for those living nearby. I’m a little uncomfortable with the police hanging out outside and I prefer more intimate neighborhood bars. So, I don’t make it here often.

I met my SoCo buddy here for dinner last week. We got there at 7:45 and were charged $ 5 for cover to the band playing at 9PM. That irked me a little. The food was decent. It’s kind of a dirty old man bar, which I’m about 30 years shy of.

JP’s is okay. Bar food is decent. If your a Sports fan they have ample TV’s. They have pitchers of draft beer but are charging for a pitcher and serving a ¾ size… thought that this was not right since I’m paying for the 64 ounces the least they could do is to buy the right size container. But if you want to listen to some music and enjoy the atmosphere JP’s is alright.

Jackie was our bartender as we sat at the bar to enjoy the live music. It was our first time there as I was with my friend Tony that invited me to try this place. At first the band(two guys called themselves Tiny Cows, are from the band SuperJam) had their volume turned WAY to high. But after their second set it was much better. I have to say this band was very very good. Only problem I had was no one was there to enjoy it! The more the merrier right? RIGHT! Typical Sunday night as the place was very slow to being almost dead. As we were drinking we had the urge to order some food. And JP’s did not disappoint on this part as well! My friend had fried chicken while I order their pizza. Both were very good as far as bar food is concerned and I’ll be back! It’s worth checking out if you have not been before and wanting to check it out!

My first visit as well. Kurt’s description of the place is accurate. His aging of the place is off we know that the place is been around for more than 20 years. Are friends parents met there over 20 years ago. We were told it was 1 of the nicer places to come visit back then. We met people that were 21 all the way up to 85. Listening to a local band here was good it sounded nice. The place needs some work though. It is a bit run down and evidently lost a lot of the class that ti use to have 20 years ago. With a bit it off work this might be a nice place again. Kurt is right about the mirrors in the pool tables. I was a bit hungry when I got there so I ordered a chicken salad. I ordered the salad knowing you can’t go wrong with a salad. Grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, onion and olives were on my salad. It was not bad but by far not my favorite salad I’ve eaten. Are friends did order a pizza, toasted raviolis, and chicken wings. The wings were good spicy and sweet it’s hard to make a bad toasted ravioli in Saint Louis. The pizza looked good but I did not try it. What I thought was really funny was when they brought my salad out they bring out plastic silverware for you to eat with. That flimsy white silverware I thought was going to break off in my salad or end up eating with my salad. At least they could go to the store and buy some cheap metal silverware. They do have several sandwiches on the menu I was very unwilling to try a sandwich. Drinks we did have several drinks there. I can’t say I was too impressed with the drinks but they were okay. I enjoyed a White Russian and a Red Bull and vodka I did however find it a bit pricey for the drink at this place. Will be going back there in late December because my friends band will be playing there. But I will be sure to eat before I get there next time.

Note: This review applies to my first visit on a Wednesday evening. Bottom Line: *Varied* crowd, almost crime-free neighborhood, not stuffy in the least. Overview: JP’s Corner has been around some time. Probably 10 years, I would say. It is located in a strip mall. Don’t let that deter you. Most other businesses in the strip mall are«day» businesses, so once they close, there is plenty of lighted parking. If you have any concerns, as a woman, coming by yourself to a bar, I would think this is one of the safer bars in Saint Louis you can come to visit. The age range of the folks in this bar is quite varied; I mean from early 20s to like 80! On this particular night, there was this duo spinning platters at a small table. They were dressed to impress, however. Sequin adorned ballcap with a matching vest, if I recall correctly, on the lady of the duo. The man had one of those«gangster» caps in white; you typically see guys standing around playing pool in the 20s with these caps. He was wearing white pants and had an over sized Hawaiian shirt. He was probably 70 and she was probably in her 50s-60s. Space: Probably about two or three pool tables in one corner. A dance floor that probably could accommodate eight couples with mirrors like you would find at a dance studio; funny touch, I think. No smoking that I saw. The waitress we had was an Asian woman in her 20s, I would say. She seemed to be a bit lax in her service, as the evening went later. Whatever, we were not in a hurry. However, I don’t think she should have been sitting down and chatting up older customers for whatever reason(I think we know that reason). Drinks: Can’t say much here. Your typical Anheuser-Busch products. Not sure if they had anything unique. Sorry. Vodkas: Smirnoff, SKY, and??? Summary: Based on some of the things I had heard from friends about the place earlier in the evening, it sounds like it was quite a hoot(yes, I said hoot). There were some cross dressers in attendance, who I missed, unfortunately. Bonus: For those native to South Saint Louis, you might recall this entire complex was home to Sunset Pool. How I miss that pool. It was a fun pool, as a kid.
