My husband and I can’t speak on having a dinner here, but we did having our wedding reception here. Becky and her team did a fantastic job. They were attentive helpful and kind. The food was delicious and we never worried about a thing the entire night. I can’t not that 15 enough for making our evening magical and perfect.

Our belated Valentine’s Day dinner finally happened! Better late the never, right ladies? We’d been planning a dinner date to Jim Edmonds 15 for several weeks and it seemed something, ok, life, always got in the way. But finally, finally I got my dinner at this wonderful steakhouse. Let me give you some background. I’m a certifiable(nut case that is) Jim Edmonds fan! :) Have been since his days with the Angels and could never have imagined he’d ever play for my beloved Cardinals, so when that deal was announced I was beside myself with glee! Years of bliss I tell you, years of bliss! So why it took me so long to get my rear to his restaurant I have no idea. Pure foolishness on my part because it combines two of my favorite things… Jim Edmonds and awesome food! So finally last Saturday, with coupon in hand, we arrived right at 6:30 for our reservation. The valet parking was prompt and the moment we walked in we were treated like long lost friends! The hostess was friendly and made us feel welcome. She took our coats, and promptly seated us. Our server was Charlie and he was terrific! We will certainly be asking for him on our next visit. But let me back up a bit to the décor. In my opinion it’s done in «traditional steakhouse» as in the walls are muted and dark in color, there is lots of wood, leather and nailhead trim. The lighting is low, but not so low you can’t read the menu or enjoy the many baseball artifacts that abound on the walls and shelves. The feeling in truly warn, cozy and friendly but with just the right touch of sophistication that you know you’re not in just any steakhouse. So back to the meal… I had two glasses of riesling during my meal(appropriately priced at $ 8 per in my opinion) and our water glasses were always kept full. For starters we split an appetizer of garlic polenta, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, basil, marinara, basil and balsamic glaze(called Baked Caprese on the menu — $ 9) and it was an interesting combination of tastes and textures and I mean interesting in a good way. The polenta was perfectly done, the mozz was fresh and the marinara was zesty and delicious! Thumbs up! Then I had the Tomato Herb Bisque with Grilled Cheese instead of a salad course. Folks, this soup and the tiny grilled cheese squares are both DE-LISH! Loved it! But I would caution the serving is large, especially for the $ 5 price tag I thought, so maybe splitting it would be best. For our entrees we had the filet and the ribeye. Both were superb in flavor and sear. And there is an herbed butter that comes on top that is wonderful, but if you prefer yours without it, just ask. We both asked for Medium on the steaks and my filet was a perfect medium. Robert’s ribeye was a tad on the medium rare side, but not enough to complain. Both steaks were heaven on a fork and were very genours in size. We had plenty of left-overs! The filet was perfectly priced at $ 39 and the ribeye was $ 32 I believe. Not cheap, but then again they were of the highest quality so worth my money. I’d say the steaks were better than Ruth’s Chris(which I’ve been to probably 20 or more times over the years) for a comparison. Both steaks came with a perfectly done baked potato which I was pleased to see arrive with no foil and no salt! I can’t stand either and in a nice restaurant I’d really hate to see either. And I can’t forget the bread!!! We were served HOT sourdough rolls and some amazing pretzel loaf that I could have eaten till I burst! Both just delicious and WARM! We were too full for dessert, but I’m sure they are great also. Finally, I would like to comment on the service. In a word, SUPERB! Our server, Charlie, was attentive, but not irritatingly so and someone who appeared to be a manager stopped during our appetizer and our entrée courses to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Applause! I can’t stand it when you go to a «nice» place and nobody seems to care that you are spending your very hard-earned dollars with them. And to top it off, Mark, the co-owner with Jim, stopped and introduced himself and asked our names(our server asked our names as well) and he told us about the interesting process of reviving the old building, how they placed the large solid columns and how each table has the initials of himself, Jim and all of their children. We got to looking at our table top and sure enough! A very small but nice touch. He invited us back and we will take him up on it! We will be back… and soon I hope! A side note on dress. The place is casual as in nice jeans would be acceptable, but it’s of the quality that it deserves a nice outfit. Some men had jackets, most didn’t. We were dressed business casual and we fit in just fine.

I would say three stars is about right! My experiences at 15 are never anything that special but they’re enough to keep me around occasionally. My most recent experience was definitely in the range of three stars. My best friend from college, her boyfriend, his nephew and I decided to go by for dinner and drinks(minus drinking for the nephew.) I was pretty surprised to see how dead the place was at 8:30 on a Saturday night… seriously, maybe only three or four tables were taken up! The atmosphere was very quiet and almost a little awkward because we felt like everyone could hear what we were saying. When places are that silent it almost makes the meal feel not as fun or exciting, and that bums me out. Our waitress seemed really tense, too, and wasn’t that friendly or welcoming. But she did bring us drinks pretty fast so my complaints are to a minimum! My glass of cab was great and my friend’s Blue Lemonade cocktail did the trick, too. I ordered the hanger steak(this girl was starving) and it was just fine! Smashed potatoes(so good) on the bottom, a layer of yummy mushrooms, and then the steak. The steak was the part that was not good… I ordered it medium and it came out EXTREMELY well done and tasted like something that was left in a crock pot somewhere for way too long. Those potatoes and mushrooms, though — ahhhh! That should be an entrée all by itself. I’d order that every time. Good spot for lunch or dinner but don’t go expecting a buzzing downtown restaurant, apparently! **Insider tip: The sweet potato fries will change your life.

The food was pretty good, but this is definitely not a «steakhouse.» So that’s why the 3 stars. The b/f and I planned a last minute trip to STL and I looked on for a deal at a restaurant near our hotel and since it was a weekend full of sports, I thought Jim Edmonds would be perfect. Piece by piece… Valet parking, $ 5. Nice. Walk in and it’s the dimly lit, dark wood kind of ambience. I like it. Order a pitcher of Sangria. It was ok. Then we order steak of course, it’s a steakhouse afterall! Disappointed. Now, I ate my entire plate because it was damn tasty, but it was not steakhouse steak. It wasn’t perfectly cooked and tender. Maybe it was the quality of meat? The flavors were good and the mashed potatoes and mushrooms were excellent, but the steak wasn’t steakhouse quality. I think the Chefs need to take a trip to Chi-town and see what real steak tastes like. Try The Firehouse, Gibsons or Carmichaels. I did thoroughly enjoy myself, and the food is pretty good. I just think the name of the restaurant is misleading. We won’t be back, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend it. If that makes any sense at all.

Excellent steak. Excellent menu. Awsome wine cellar. My wife and i will comechere for steak before we go to Ruths Chris or Porters. This place rocks! The Head Chef walks the room to ensure his guests are receiving the best food and the best service. You don’t get that kind of attention in most places. We will bring our friends here and our parties!

We went on a Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m., and Cardinals were out of town. No need to go back. This restaurant was not busy and service was slow, and truly not that good. We started with the«tempura» calamari. Not really tempura batter, heavy coating, and mostly coating, we struggled to find calamari in some of the pieces. My husband had the trout, and it was ample, but grilled only on one side, strange. I had the rib-eye with baked potato with no sour cream because I don’t like it. I wanted butter only. Well, guess what, sour cream was served with potato and due to lighting, looked like the butter. I put it on my potato, not good. When questioned, waiter said butter was on potato and sour cream on the side. No, not really. Not sure where all the TVs and sports memorabilia were, certainly not where we were sitting. We were in the«dining room» off the bar area. Of the three TVs behind the bar two were showing«30 Rock» and a very old, old hockey movie with a very young Patrick Swayze on the larger of the two but not what I would call a big screen TV. Now, that is what I want to see in a sports bar/steak restaurant!

We keep cruising with our Groupons and had dinner at JE15 before going to hear the Houston Person Quartet at the Bistro. They offered inexpensive valet parking. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. We were a little early due to our jazz date and the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday. This is located in what appeared to be a warehouse or office building that has been stripped to reveal the old large wooden columns and beams. We had studied the menu on line before we went, but I went with all daily specials. We shared an appetizer of goat cheese gnocchi with an asparagus purée, some steamed pencil thin asparagus and fresh morels. Ms T found the goat cheese in the gnocchi to make it too soft and gooey for her taste. I liked it OK. Neither the purée nor the asparagus had much flavor but I was comparing to having eaten freshly picked asparagus from Mom’s farm in Iowa, twice this week. I know morels are expensive, but there were barely enough to taste. I had smoked chicken and barley soup. It was a very good soup, good texture and heartiness. It needed a little salt, having almost none. I also squeezed in some lemon to provide some backbone. Otherwise, it was a good effort. My main course was the daily special bacon wrapped meatloaf with a balsamic reduction, garnished with onion straws. I’m not sure what to say about this. It was served with piped mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The meatloaf was a nicely presented individual, bacon wrapped loaf and was a huge portion. The meatloaf missed the mark on two counts. It was not well seasoned and the texture was dry and grainy. Perhaps the meat was too fine a grind or perhaps it was too lean. Ms T had a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, tomato, lettuce and cheese. It was served on a huge, bready, dry bun. Ms T put the bun aside and ate the rest. The chicken was disappointing. While it had good grill flavor, it was completely unseasoned and crossed over the edge to dry. As with the meat loaf, it would not have taken much attention to detail to make this good. One other thing that bothered us are the tables for two. They are too wide, so that you are sitting too far from your dining partner. You are actually closer to the person at the neighboring table. You have to talk loud and lean forward to be heard. Of course everyone at these tables is doing the same thing so you hear the other people better than you want. Three stars is a little generous for this night’s experience, but the service was exceptionally attentive and friendly.

We had a group of six on a weeknight, refugees from conference food at Union Station. We did not have high expections, and just stumbled on the place. I had heard of it and thought it would have been closer to the ballpark. The six of us ordered wildly different things. Some had sandwiches, others had entrees. Everybody finished their food, and had complimentary comments. I had a wedge salad that had some unchewable pieces of bacon and some slightly sad lettuce. The meal was redeemed by a surprisingly good sausage and penne in a slightly spicy red sauce. Good portion size for $ 16, very tasty. The place, however, was pretty empty. In fact, we thought it was closed. They have NO street traffic at all. I’m not sure how they’re going to survive.

Oh Jim Edmonds. Where to start? Do I compare this to a spring training game, where everyone is just showing up and getting readjusted? Or should this be the post season review, because this was, after all, a «major» restaurant holiday. We’ll let the diners of the world decide. Welcome to Jim Edmonds, February 14, 2011. It’s Valentines day, 7:55pm. We are early for the 8:15pm reservation. No Worries! Seated immediately to the dining room just off from the main entrance. So far so good, Valet parking was great(no line), and we’re put at a nice table by what looked like oxygen tanks near the wall. Wall decoration is subtle with #15, cardinal gear, and Budweiser props, to be expected. Restaurant, I’ll say, is 65% full in my non-official Zagat tone. Handed menus and proceed to look it over. Great selection. Wine is available if you want to spend $ 30 or $ 500. However, I’m pretty sure it’s a typo that the Rodney Strong was $ 350 a bottle or that’s one hell of a bloody mark up(it was also available by the glass for $ 8, so do the math…) Anywho — I’m taking in the ambiance, enjoying the radiohead(idioteque), and all of a sudden realizing it’s been 10 minutes and NO introduction from anyone. Tables to the left — service, in front, yep, waiter walking by? No. that’s the water guy(more later)… Finally~ ha! Make eye contact and A**** comes over.(I’d change the names to protect the guilty, however, this scene was probably repeated ad nauseum throughout the night so why bother.) 5 minutes later, wine ordered(bit of a struggle stating wine wanted, as there was no bottle number) — and 5 after that wine arrives! Evening started! Proceed to look over menu and then hear waitress at Other table talking about«specials». 2 Minutes later, our waitress arrives asking if we’ve made or decision — we ask… mm are there any SPECIALS. «oh, I forgot, the VALENTINESDAYSPECIAL is…» Ok, so either you a) truly forgot or b) are hoping we order a la carte. I think it’s a. read on. After getting specials read, we ask for an additional minute to contemplate. Decide on special. Actually was excellent! a) Salad, b) Filet c) Lobster with shrimp and crab mixed in and a butter seasoning. Fabulous… WHEN It arrived, but I’m getting ahead of myself. First we ordered — had some wine, waited, la de da, where the f**k are the salads? One Caesar, one House, pretty simple eh. Keep waiting… actually begin to think — is there bread? HARK! I see bread — oh it’s going to the other table… track down waitress — hey is there bread? «Ah, be right back!». c’est le bread! Danka, glad I asked. We enjoyed the bread and kept waiting on salads. Darkness. Nothing. Another 10 gone by. Next think we know, the MGR is showing up telling us there was a ‘mix up’ and we lost our salads to table 9 in the back. Bastards. They must have known there were going to be extra croutons. Anyhow, MGR was great and extended his apologies, another round of wine(in big ass VIP glasses, i.e. BAVG) and dessert forthcoming on the house for our inconvenience. Very professional, salads are hand delivered by the MGR. They were great. I can see why table 9 stole em. A bit more waiting(and enjoying the BAVG of wine) and the steaks come out. Holy crapola. After all the above, everything is actually cooked perfect and tastes delish. Worth the wait. The good bit is while enjoying the steaks, it’s like a carnival watching the MGR roll around to the OTHER tables and bring out OTHER salads. What is going on here? Are the salads lost in the shuffle? Is there no salad button on the CPU? Not sure, but this was a major issue and major vino was probably handed out because of the salad issue… Dinner over! A third gentleman comes over to fill up the water glasses — ha! except this isn’t the busboy. No, this is our lad who is working here a few days for a bit of cash(he told me this) and, hell, he has no idea exactly what he’s doing. No bother, fills the glass well, and gives me a great grin. Fabulous guy, really was. Finally — our waitress comes over to roll down the dessert menu and actually tries to «sell» us on em, even though it’s, er, on the house. So, apple cobler and crème brule it is. Again, fabulous, although this may be because it was free. Anyhow, I’m rambling on here, but the bottom line is, if you’re expecting Mortons, go to Mortons, if you want a damn good steak with a bit of flare and circus like atmosphere, this is it. The MGR will definitely hook you up if there are problems and make it right, which makes this place brilliant.

I have not eaten food here but I have been here a few times for the night life side. It is not my cup of tea. If you like loud dance music and want to find a «hook up», then you would have fun here. Its mostly a crowd of early 20 somethings. Typical night club atmosphere. If you are a woman and are not provocatively dressed you will feel like you don’t fit in. The drink are average priced.

New chef = excellent! Special on Friday night was a tenderloin with bacon, blue cheese, and onion. Side of mashed potatoes and appetizer of breaded portabella. Spouse had huge steak salad and was very satisfied. Free shuttle to and from Cards game. Great dinner, Cards beat Cubs. Four stars!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. My wife decided to try it out last Thursday. While the décor was classy, I didn’t feel like I was under dressed in jeans and a polo. The man himself also was dining that night, which didn’t affect the quality of our meal, just nice to see the owner enjoying a meal at his own restaurant. I ordered barbecue baby back ribs and my wife ordered the pan-seared barramundi. The ribs were fantastic! I picked up the bone and the meat just fell off. My wife say the barramundi was good, I was too interested in the ribs to try the fish. We were surprised that the entrees there do not include any sides which will add $ 4 – 5 to your bill if you want anything with your meal. The service was also good. Overall, I would recommend this place to any carnivore(don’t remember seeing any vegetarian friendly entrees).

We’ve never heard of this place before until Groupon. My bf loves a good steak once in a while. He got a ribeye. While the table next to us send their steaks back to the kitchen, we didn’t do that but we also probably wont be coming back to Jim Edmonds in the future. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. So kudos for good service and decent décor… although they could separate the tables a little farther apart…
