Imo’s is a St. Louis staple. I find that people either love it or hate it. I am in the former. The provel cheese is what makes it great. This location is close and I have never had any issues. Definitely my favorite pizza. If only it were a bit cheaper… I’d be a regular.

Visited an Imo’s while visiting StLouis from AZ to see a Cardinals @ Rams game. We got toasted ravioli, which was good, but then the pizza arrives. We weren’t aware of the provel cheese situation. That was unpleasant, to say the least. It was like Velveeta melted on a matzah cracker. I won’t even get into the gastrointestinal problem that cheese caused down the line. Please, mozzarella on pizza, that’s just how it’s done!

Absolutely terrible. Ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and after we picked it up we discovered it was hamburger and pineapple. Called to let them know and they told us they’ll make a new one and to bring the other one back. I’m sorry but why? To prove we weren’t lying? I’ve worked in the restaurant business before and if we made a mistake we fix it and then some. The hamburger pineapple didn’t taste bad it just wasn’t what we ordered. How about you let us just keep the pizza you messed up as an inconvenience charge? The girl at the counter said this was just your policy and even though all of the employees could clearly here me, no manager ever came forward to even apologize. Ridiculous. I will never order from imos again and be sure to let lots of other people know about this as well. Way to save a whole $ 3 with your stupid policy.

I never knew a St. Louis-style pizza even existed before visiting the city. My friends were so excited about me trying it for the first time but I had to gently break it to them that I’m not even that into regular pizza(for me, that’d be NY-style) to begin with. But when in Rome, right? The super thin, square-cut, individual sized pies are an interesting and somewhat blasphemous take on your classic and even deep dish pizza. Less dough? Sweet(er) tomato sauce? Weird, made-up cheese?(For the record, Provel cheese isn’t that bad. It’s just different.) There something I like about it being a little easier to eat/snack on one handedly but overall, I don’t have very strong opinions about it. The toasted ravioli was tasty, and it’s probably the only time outside of eating Chef Boyardee that I’ve gotten to enjoy meat ravioli. Ah, the little things.

You know what, it was better than I expected it to be. Actually, I enjoyed it. I went in thinking it was bad only because our friends who lived there when to Imo’s Pizza at a different location. Apparently location plays a huge roll in the way the pizza taste. This location was suggested by the local girls in my friend’s office. Time: Went around 1pm — parking lot was partially filled up, but we manage to get a spot. Waited: No line to order, the wait for the food was about 5 – 10 minutes. Service: OK Price: $ 9.09 [Lunch combo: 8″ mini pizza, half house salad, and a 16oz drink] Would I return: Yes Positives: –I like the taste. The crust was thin and the cheese is a mix of mild cheddar, Swiss and Provolone. Which turns out I enjoy! –Parking isn’t to bad, but I can see where it could get crazy. Why the 4 out of 5: –I didn’t like the idea I had to go to a certain location to get«the real Imo’s pizza.» That taste is based on location. Had we went to the location near the house, I’m sure we’d hate it(as my friends right now) –The pizza was really oily. Little baby pools of oil. Not sure if that’s normal, but nothing a little napkin couldn’t take care of. –The sitting area isn’t the greatest looking(I’ve been into fast food places where the sitting area is really clean and brightly lit) –Service is OK. I know we shouldn’t go in expecting great service, but if I was giving out 5 stars I shouldn’t have to settle just for OK because it’s a pizza place you know? If you are open minded to a different style of pizza and don’t go in comparing it to your favorite style of pizza then it’s worth a try. Pizza is pizza, and every place will have it’s own twist on it. Be it New York style or Chicago style. STL just has their own spin on it. I personally like their twist on it. I like it better than that gooey butter cake thing.

First time trying St. Louis pizza, wasn’t sure what to expect. I liked it a lot though ! The crust is very thin, cracker like. But it’s crunchy and I liked it! Sometimes the toppings can slip off cause it’s so thin, but it doesn’t happen to often the times I’ve been there. The food was ready quick, was hot. And tasted good. I have been back many times!

Maybe my hopes were too high, but I’m just not a fan of this St. Louis style pizza. The cheese was kind of creamy, I prefer chewy. Service was fine, but the place wasn’t the cleanest. It was also $ 60 to feed our large family, so that is a weak point in my book. That seems pretty high for a place that you order at the counter! We had a sausage pizza, a pepperoni pizza, a meatball sub, and garlic cheese bread. The garlic cheese bread was certainly the best… the rest was all pretty meh.

yummy local pizza. i like the silly provel thing they do. thin crust and imos are just not the most delicious or most cost effective way to fill my stomach. it is funny how the two imos on hampton always make sure you can tell them apart. don’t call the wrong one. =P

If you are a STL native, you can’t go wrong with this thin crusted, provel cheese pizza! I’m not going to lie, when I first tried IMOs after moving here from the south, I thought it was the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted. The cheese and thin crust is an acquired taste, but so is fine wine. This location is neat and historical, delivery is quick, but eating in is fun too. Close to dogtown and right across the highway from forest park and the zoo. Perfect location. Now, if you want a taste of everything get the St. Louis box. It comes with a pizza, provel cheese bites, toasted ravioli, and cinimos(cinnamon sticks). Make sure you tell them to add icing otherwise it doesn’t come in the box. This box is more then enough for 4 people. Also I like to add a house salad to the order, you can’t go wrong with the salad, provel cheese, crush some crackers on top and the house dressing. If you are visiting or a regular, this box is a perfect combo of why St. Louis is unbelievable. Go get your pizza on!

I was having problems with ordering online so I called my order in for pickup. I placed my order, got a total & was told that it would be ready in 15 – 20 minutes. I made sure to double check that I had the correct location since there are 2 Imo’s on Hampton. I got there in the time they said my order would be ready, went to get it & they had no record of my order. They accused me of calling the wrong store, but I showed them my phone with their #. So, after I did everything correctly on my part, I still had to wait there to get my pizza. I got no apology, they just treated me like I was the one in the wrong. I had to complain to the manager but that was useless, all he did was give me $ 1 off. What ever happened to customer service?!

Not sure about the negative reviews on this location. I am an Imo’s veteran, but after i moved to the area, I needed to try this one since some locations are hit-or-miss. Imo’s is also a love-or-hate thing and everyone from out of town should know this — why even bother posting a poor review of something that just isn’t up your alley? We got an extra special and a deluxe salad with pepperoncinis and onions. Usually if I order extra stuff on the salad, most locations omit them. I was pleased to see this salad — it was gargantuan. It was loaded with pepperoni, black olives and tons of Provel — I’m used to the topping-barren, iceberg-laden house salads from other locations. The extra special sandwich was great as well — although if you are taking out, just order it cold and toast it at home without the veggies. They get soggy if you have more than a couple minute drive. Between two people, coupled with half of the sandwich, we were absolutely stuffed. I’m going to be getting salads here more often — for $ 6, it is a steal. I’ve had the pizza from this location too and it was as advertised. Plenty of toppings. I think they need to ditch the provel bites, though. It’s a bit over the top and they already have mozzarella sticks.

If you want pizza, go to New York or Chicago. Don’t go to Imo’s. Check that. Don’t eat pizza in St. Louis or the state of Missouri. Whoever thought using provel cheese on a pizza(or anything) was a good idea should be banned from ever making food again! After moving here from NYC all we heard about was how great the pizza was in STL. I had my doubts and was convinced it was terrible. I swore I would never try it. Well my wife convinced me otherwise the other day so we gave it a shot. We both agreed it was terrible. It only made us sad that we weren’t back in NYC grabbing a pie from Grimaldi’s or Lombardi’s. Eat bbq in STL, don’t eat pizza.

St. Louis Pizza: Provel«cheese food»(basically white Velveeta, literally not allowed to be called cheese by law due to low milk content) and«sauce»(basically ketchup with no seasoning) on a cracker-like crust. Imo’s claims to be the original, but is inferior to Elicia’s and Cecil Whittaker’s, who make slightly more palatable versions.

On my last visit to St. Louis, I had to visit one of the St Louis food staples. I heard of this ridiculously thin crust pizza topped with a cheese that you could only get in the St Louis area called Provel(an interesting blend of Cheddar, Provolone and Swiss). Imo’s pizza is a chain of pizza joints that are strewn around the STL area. My cousin took us here to try some of his local favorites. The location that we went to was near Forrest Park on Hampton. The location is an unusual shape. almost like a wedge. like a slice… I thought it funny because the slices on the pizza are not triangular but square! We ordered a 1 pepperoni and 1 deluxe pizza, along with some Toasted Ravioli(another St Louis treat) and some drinks. The thing that I love in the US is that a lot of chain restaurants use styrofoam cups for their fountain drinks, not the paper ones that we use in Canada. I love them! The styrofoam cups keep your drinks nice and cold on those sweltering 100+ degree summers in STL. We sat at a table and sampled the toasted ravioli. Little crisp pockets of cheese and tomato goodness! A definite re-order on the next visit. Our pizza was delivered to the table. Super thin, Super Cheesy, Super good. if your a fan of the thinner crusted pizza, then you should come here. I said in the beginning that the cheese that is used on their pizza is not mozzarella but a blend of cheeses called Provel. Its like mozzarella with all of the gooey stringy attributes, has a hint of sharpness from the cheddar and the creamy taste of provolone. When you bite a slice, the Provel just sticks to the roof of your mouth and you get all the cheese flavors. Its too bad you can only buy it in the STL area, because that cheese is awesome on pizza! Imo’s Pizza definitely made me a fan of the St Louis style of pizza and I am ready for my next trip down to St Louis… Pizza Pizza Canada. take notes!
