This place has been a staple in my family for YEARS! I’ve lived in Dutchtown most of life, so Ho-Wah is like family. One of the main reasons I love this place: it’s one of the few places in the city that serves the St. Paul sandwich! All items on the menu are under $ 10, so it’s very affordable. Now, the place may be a little undesirable, considering its in «the hood», but for people who are familiar with the area aren’t phased by the that. The lady who takes the orders is always nice and courteous. The store is small, but it does have sitting for dine-in pleasure. The food is always served hot and the wait never too long. The menu has plethora of choices, so you won’t get bored. This place will always be a gem to me.

Poor service and if you order delivery they rip you off. While the food maybe a bit cheaper it the«sales tax» changes the ball game. Also the older delivery guy will demand if not take his tip. Btw delivery is a dollar which I found out not by asking her previously but when I called because my order was almost an hour late. And she had the nerve to be upset at my questions. The sales tax is 8.49 not the 9% she claims not a big leap but have your ahit right when you’re charging folks spending their hard earned money. Wtf happened to good costumer service and honesty.

This place gets 4 stars pretty much solely because it has the famous St. Paul sandwich. For those of you not in the know, a St. Paul sandwich is a St. Louis invention(despite the name) that consists of two pieces of Wonderbread, a deep-fried egg foo young patty, lettuce, pickles, and mayonnaise. You know that’s amazing! And all for only $ 2! Otherwise, it’s a pretty ghetto Chinese restaurant. They have a few tables where you can sit down, but they give you styrofoam take-out boxes regardless. No tea either. The also have no vegetarian section on the menu like many non-ghetto Chinese places, although they have a number of vegetarian dishes(like the St. Paul sandwich, though it can have meat too). From what I’ve heard, there are very few places that sell the St. Paul sandwich, so this place is a gem despite appearances!
