This was a disappointment. Husband ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and I got the shrimp plate. I had 6 pieces of shrimp and the rest of the plate was greasey, soy sauce drenched rice. Husband only had about 6 pieces of chicken on his plate and the rest was rice. We didn’t even get any noodles on our plate like the menu said our plates would come with. It was all rice. It smelled so good when itnwas cooking, but it didn’t taste good. Basically paid $ 20 for a giant plate of greasey, salty rice.

Interesting name… sounds like you are roasting roadkill! Back to the drawing board! The menu itself was intriguing enough for me to venture out to the truck, I normally am nervous about truck eating but if the menu says hey come here! They didn’t have two items available which were quite frankly the only enticing things on there, lobster roll tacos and chocolate chip cannoli. Bummer. The combo plate is a good hook up, a lot of food. The tacos were good. The slaw and their salad is basically lettuce and red cabbage chunks, one with a thick dressing on it and the other with some ginger dressing, super skeet. Not worth another trip out in the cold.

So indecided to order the teriyaki chicken off the food truck today even though the name sounds like they serve road kill. It was ok. Literally there was 6 pieces of chicken and they were all dry. Little to no teryaki sauce. I ordered dragon style for the rice which was really good. Co workers ordered the same dish and the chicken was not dry. Overall this was a ok Midwest attempt.

I have been eyeing the place for some time and I have wanted to eat there. I first noticed the restaurant because their food truck that is normally parked in parking lot in front of it. So I stopped there for lunch today. I got the chicken lunch special and an order of crab rangoon. The lunch special came with a small salad and a bit of soup like you would get at a hibachi restaurant. I wasn’t expecting much since it was a lunch portion, but it was all excellent. It tasted exactly like I would have had in a sit down hibachi restaurant, without the fancy show that goes along with it. The place is a casual café setting, but you aren’t paying the inflated prices either. My only complaint would be that the crab rangoon could have been a bit more filled. They deliver too which makes it convenient to have a lazy night in. I will definitely be back again soon! Note: they do close for a brief time between lunch and dinner.

Restaurant is clean and staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is also very good. I love being able to have a hibachi style meal made quickly. Chicken teriyaki and shrimp with rice are two of my favorite dishes, but everything we’ve tried was good. We’ll definitely be back.

I’ve had driven past Highway Hibachi for a while now and their food truck(which is sitting in the parking lot) has caught my eye every time I drive by. I LOVE food trucks! I stopped in tonight and decided to get dinner to go! It’s a very bland atmosphere but I would assume that the food truck will be the main money maker here. The food was good and you get a good amount of food for the money. Although it was a little pricey, I think the price is a result of it being a new business and it is on par with the other area food. I had the chicken teriyaki which was server with a traditional ginger salad, rice, and hibachi vegetables. I normally do not like the ginger salads, but theirs was slightly sweeter and very refreshing. The soup was also very flavorful for being a broth type soup. The chicken was cooked perfectly(not overdone) and the sauce was tasty(although I could’ve used a little more). If you like the traditional Japanese Hibachi grills and want a quick and cheap alternative($ 10 a plate vs $ 20+) Highway Hibachi is worth checking out. And as a plus your helping a new local business! Best of luck to you guys! I will definitely be back!!!
