Hawken House

We just hosted a party here for my parents 50^th wedding anniversary. Events are held in the building BEHIND the Hawken House, a structure lovingly referred to as «THE BARN». Well, it’s not a barn, it’s a room with a kitchen, many tables and chairs and some bathroom facilities. There are doors leading outside to a little patio area.
This was great for our party of 80. God help anyone who tries to cram in 90 or more people here. It’s not a pretty picture. With 80 people, 10 tables of 8, there was room for the food tables, the music table, the bar and for people to get up and walk around. Notice I didn’t even mention a dance floor! So anyone who is thinking of this for a big wedding reception needs to think again. I can’t say that enough times.
The inside of this building is very plain and we had someone decorate and even cover the ugly institutional-​style chairs. There’s a small kitchen for your caterer that has a sink and 2 refrigerators, no oven and they also provide a bar which can be placed anywhere you like in the room.
The area surrounding this building is nicely landscaped, green and lush thanks to all the rain. This was just the right venue for our gig, maybe it could be for yours as well.
