A TRUE, REAL, AUTHENTIC, UNPRETENTIOUS neighborhood café tucked into a fun neighborhood just steps from a gorgeous Victorian park. Hartford Coffee Co. is not fancy, trendy, or stylish. It IS solid, reliable, tasty, and friendly. Yes, the interior could use some sprucing up, but the high-ceilinged space with big windows is pleasant nonetheless. Unlike some other small neighborhood coffee shops, this one has consistently good food and drinks that will taste the way they’re supposed to regardless of who happens to be making them. I enjoy their coffee drinks, sandwiches, soups, and sides for their flavor, freshness, and generous portions! Incredibly, prices here are less expensive than fast food! Every neighborhood should have one of these.

This place has to be the cutest coffee shop ever! Haven’t had a lot of the menu items, but what I have had has been amazing! The staff is really friendly. I would ditch Starbucks if this place was more convenient for me. I always wake up and get in the car and wish I woke up earlier to stop by.

I go here for the food and the good amount of work space. There’s a quiet zone in a detached space out back which is excellent for studying. And they have a pretty diverse food menu that’s all cheaper than you’d expect. The coffee is not great but drinkable.

I love this place! It’s so convenient for me to stop here on my way home or on my way to work. The breakfast Sammie never fails and the baked goods are delightful. I really enjoy the people who work here and feel like I’ve found my new spot in my new neighborhood. My favorite time of day to come here is during the week in the morning. All the local moms bring their little ones to the play area, which I find adorable and an uplifting way to start my day.

Oooooohhhh I’ve found a Southside safe haven! Hartford Coffee Co. is easy to spot(slack dab on the corner of Roger & Hartford) in the Tower Grove neighborhood. There’s plenty of seating both indoors, outside on the front patio and even in the backyard garden area. They have a nook for kids that’s equipped with toys & books to Lee them entertained while adults enjoy caffeine infused libations. The bakery case is interesting; cheesecake, fudge bar(I tried it, died & went to heaven), oatmeal raisin cookies, cherry white chocolate cookies, gluten-free cookies, gooey butter cake, brownies, Goldfish, Cheerios and Animal Crackers for the crumb snatchers. The menu has a variety of small eats ranging from vegan to carnivore. Espresso drinks, drip coffee & grounds for the right price. Brent greeted me with a warm smile & pleasant«Happy Halloween» before asking if he could get something started for me. I explained I was in the mood for something spicy along with my espresso and of course dark chocolate… sounds difficult I know. Well Brent assured me I like his concoction and if I didn’t he’d gladly made something else for me. What he whipped up was nothing shy of magnificent! Dirty Soy Dark Chocolate Chai for Christy. I loved every sip. It was a perfect combination of yin & yang in my tumbler.

Always a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. I love their mocha frappé and ice coffee. The ice cubes in the ice coffee are actually frozen coffee cubes, so when the ice melts it doesn’t water down the coffee.

I come here to get work done during the week as its down the street from my home. Staff is always super friendly, attentive, and the coffee is always hot and plentiful. Seems to be a great place for families to kick it too. Full 5 stars for the food offering being great as well! It’s perfect for a neighborhood business.

I love this place! Besides great coffee they have a great gyro! You have to try it. I think it’s really nice that they do so many collections for different shelters around town. It’s one of my favorite spots to get a bite of food in the later hours of the evening.

While I do think this place is a bit hidden, its not too bad! What I mean is if you’re not familiar with Tower Grove park and/or neighborhood, you would not know it existed. I came to meet a local artist here last week and it was very humid outside so luckily this coffee place had just the fix. I had their berry smoothie, and it was great! I was still thirsty, so I just got a fountain soda. By the way, I don’t know any other similar places that have refillable fountain soda, so kudos to them! Their desserts were very great as I had a slice of rich cheesecake and a cookie. I’ll be back to try some of their healthy sandwiches. I’m not much of a fan of hipster coffeehouses but great job to the folks that run this place!

I’m so torn about this place, there are a few things to love but I’m not sure they are enough to outweigh the cons. Pros: — LOTS of seating including indoor, outdoor, and a separate building that is a quiet zone for study only(excellent perk). — Designated children’s play area. Parents should be able to take their kids to a coffee shop with them without disturbing everyone who is there to study or have an intimate meeting. Hartford provides a solution for that. — Everything is very affordable. Cons: — I have never once had a good cup of coffee from here. Its all in pump pots and usually isn’t very fresh or well made. Maybe the other drinks they offer are good? — Friends of mine who are parents have complained about the cleanliness of the children’s area. They joke about it being a place to go if they want their kids to get sick. — Parking can be tricky during busy hours.

This is a great morning coffee stop and a great study location with a private study area in the back. The only reason for the 3 stars is the subpar food. Yes it’s a coffee house but, when you offer food, and not much on the menu, every item should be fantastic. The Sammie– an egg and cheese sandwich, that was alright, would prefer McDonald’s breakfast sandwich over this. Frittata– open face tomato and cheese omelet, probably the best breakfast item they have, much more flavorful. And enough to fill you up The grand sandwich and the tower grove BLT– was hoping that the jalapeño bacon had more of a kick, as I love spicy. Not too bad, but didn’t knock my socks off, something I could make at home. Cookie, gooey butter cake– not too bad but other places have better options for desserts. To study this is the best place to go, many more options then a library and even more then a Starbucks as far as food goes. Prices are reasonable as well. I need to try more items off the food menu in order to give a proper analysis of the food, but like I said, it’s a coffee house so going for coffee is the ideal experience here, not to mention they do provide great live entertainment and it makes for a great neighborhood spot to stop at. If you are around tower grove area, stop on by!

Just a couple updates – the salad dressing is now served in a cup on the side(did they read my last review!?). Also, I am still having problems with ridiculously slow internet in the main room, sometimes to the point where I can’t get anything done, but absolutely no speed issues using the separate WiFi router in the quiet study area out back. I’m hypothesizing that it’s a matter of how many people are online at once, as there’s usually less people in the study area. My giant elevated table that I use as a standing desk has now been moved it to the quiet study area, a move I approve of. Still my favorite place to work/study/enjoy a latte, eat a casual lunch.

Presentation is everything. Had lunch @ Hartford with my husband. He had lentil soup w/grilled cheese. The soup did not look appetizing, however he said it tasted ok, grilled cheese was flat & cold. Maybe a smaller bowl of soup & half«HOT» grilled cheese. I had the chicken ceaser wrap & macaroni salad as a side. I was given the wrong order but it was rectified ASAP. The mac salad was good and so was the iced latte.

I like it here! I enjoy bringing the kiddos and staying for a cup of coffee while meeting a friend because unlike a lot of coffee shops, this place has a little play area. The hot chocolate is so reasonable($ 1.50) and they steam the milk to any temp(barely warm for my kids). The coffee, however, I find hard to drink. It’s bitter and weak. I really try to order something else when I go there but I love coffee so much that it’s hard for me to NOT have coffee when in a coffee shop! The food is good and they have some treats for the kids. Treats for adults too! The play area could use a few new toys and get rid of the ride-on toys(not enough space even when empty there). To get new toys, just post a sign asking for specific ones(like new wooden train cars, for example) and I’m sure you’d get good stuff. The parents who use the space would definitely be willing to give back.

Nice little coffee shop in Tower Grove South. Plenty of open seats inside and a patio outside that’s far enough away from the road that groups can hang at. Seating and table availability make working here great. Plus, easy to access free wifi with no «time constraints» like some shops is perfect. Food is typical coffee shop fare of soups, salads, and sandwiches, but they have a pretty large selection. I was surprised at how nice their sides were, too. The potato spice was peppery as heck, but I loved it. Bread was the right mix between chewy and soft. Coffee is pretty good, too. Nothing to write home about but it did it’s job and it all tastes decent. Plus they have«unlimited» option for drip coffee, which is nice. One minor thing: this place is very family friendly. They even have a little play area in the back for little ones. This is great for young families wanting to grab some lunch, but it might be annoying if you’re a childless person looking for a coffee shop to work at. The noise doesn’t get too bad, regardless, and most parents don’t allow their kids to run around unsupervised. Overall it’s a great place to grab lunch with some friends or the family, and it’s also a nice place to get some work done in the afternoons.

Good coffee. Decent food. Better baked goods. Their service was so confused. Coffee places in my opinion should be judged by their coffee and that should be their main focus. They’re pretty good and have a yummy pumpkin drink! Pushing a lot of coffee and less espresso drinks isn’t the best. They have lots of food options and even a kids play room area. Neither would have been in my business plan but hey, so many local coffee places in St. Louis you have to stand out. Falafel, vegetarian sandwich, and greek salad with gyro were not good for St. Louis. They couldn’t quite get out order right and we had to remind them to give us all of our food. Our friends were given someone else’s meal… But the desserts were yummy. Chocolate raspberry cupcake. Pumpkin bread. Yum! It’s nice you can go for a bite but I’d shrink the menu and really hit stuff out of the park. But hey, they should probably just stay focused on coffee.

Great coffee drinks! Roast their own coffee and can buy it to take home. Many flavors and they are all great. You have to try The Nelson! Cool atmosphere to chill, study, or meeting. Up front area is a little louder with plenty of seats. Out back is a quite room. Local art work hangs for sale and is changed out routinely. Food is good, wish they would change up the menu every now and then. Bakery items are excellent. I often take their cookies to events or work. Overall you should for sure try it out.
