They should get rid of online check in. What a bunch of crap. The customer who is actually waiting in the store get bumped from a customer who is at home. Talk about fucking over the customers

REVIEWFORMEN. Overall: 4 stars Skill: 4 Obviously varies by person but overall pretty good. For a simple cut, this is a decent place. Can tell that they are not highly skilled or trained but for a Great Clips, they are far above average. Always happy when I leave. Price: 4 $ 16 before tip. Bring back receipt for $ 4 off when you check in online. Service: 5 Always friendly and hospitable.

I need to split my review in half. I took two teens in for a haircut at the same time and could not have had different experiences. Jenn was super helpful with my daughter and her damaged chlorine hair. Her hair looked great and she explained how to care for it. On the other hand, Christine was clearly annoyed to have a kid client from the beginning. She quit on her blow dry halfway through and gave me attitude when I asked her to finish. Then, as it turns out, my daughter’s hair was not wet, it was greasy. She used some nasty leave in product that made it look greasy and then blamed my daughter for it. She looked fine when she walked in and even better after she washed her hair again… promptly after leaving Great Clips. If she had offered to wash it after we were clearly unhappy, I might have left a tip. Instead… here is your tip, Christine — find a job that makes you happy, this one clearly does not. We will be back… when Christine is gone.

Basically these places are just for quick, cheap haircuts. I feel like it’s always a crapshoot going to one of these chains, you either get someone OK or someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing… more often than not, it’s the latter. My haircut probably lasted 4 minutes, and while she at least didn’t screw anything up, it was a pretty lame attempt at a haircut. Maybe if she spent a couple more minutes on it, she wouldn’t have missed the loose strands of hair or the uneven sideburns. I’m a fan of the old-school barber shop and will definitely take the time to locate one before my next haircut.

went there to correct my husband’s cut. Rachel(curly, Greek lady) was very kind to help fix my husband“s funny haircut. not only did she correct his hairstyle, she also explained what would work and why before she cut anything.

I have always been a fan of the traditional barber shop. I never use«product» in my hair and really, I am not in need a stylist-especially at my age. But, Raymond, my 70+ something barber closed up shop and after a few cuts by some friends and family, my wife said, just go to Great Clips and get your hair cut. I relented and tried the Great Clips near me. The cut was fast and very little chit chat(thank you), It was in the end, not the best cut I’ve ever had or the worst, it was ok. But it was also only $ 15.00 and I was in and out of there in less than 30 mins. Great Clips is like fast food for your hair, avoid a steady diet of it, but when you really need one, it will do. Still looking for an old school barber.

I generally try not to be too harsh on chain businesses. Frequently, chains are cheaper and with a low price comes lower quality — that’s simply a fact. Now, that isn’t always the case, but from my experiences, it usually is. This Great Clips location had been a staple of my St. Louis life since I moved here in 2005 for college until about a year ago. As a student, it was the cheapest place I could find to get a haircut and since my standard men’s haircut is pretty simple, I never felt the need to go anywhere else. However, I have stopped going here and couldn’t be happier now that I have found a cheaper and much higher quality salon(Paul Mitchell the School). My experience here has been that many of the stylists are rough at best. I have frequently received uneven cuts from many of the stylists — slanted bangs, missed hair on the neck, uneven sides, etc. Since my hair is low maintenance, usually a little gel or pomade could mask the imperfections, so I continued going. That being said, I have had a few cuts from one or two stylists that were wonderful and well-executed. But herein lies the problem — Great Clips(or at least this location — I’m not sure if this is standard practice for the entire company) doesn’t allow customers to request stylists. You cannot book specific stylists or make any requests. You are simply given who is next in line. If you get a great haircut one visit, you can count on getting a different stylist the next. After changing salons, I’ve learned how beneficial it can be to stay with the same stylist. In terms of their customer service, it’s pretty average. I’ve had very friendly stylists and receptionists and then I’ve had the ones who simply want to do their job and go home. On one particular occasion, I was given a stylist who insisted that she was a professional and I shouldn’t try to tell her how to do her job when I told her what kind of haircut I wanted. Taking your bad day out on a customer is a really immature and irresponsible way to handle yourself in a customer service environment. But again, if the stylists don’t have the option of retaining specific customers, there is no incentive for them to excel and try to impress their clientele. If you’re in a bind, go ahead and swing by — the wait is never long and the cuts are quick. But if you’ve got time and want a good haircut, find one of the many other salons in town and shop around until you find the place for you.

I don’t want to totally put down this Great Clips. I’m sure it does a great«no frills» hair cut like previously mentioned. My roommate went here and complained about his bad haircut. Knowing that it really depends on the stylist(not the whole salon) I gave it a try and received a horrible haircut as well. My boyfriend ended up going there a week or so later(I didn’t warn him) and he got a bad haircut. The three of us ended up talking about it and discovered that all three of us coincidentally had the same stylist. None of us could remember her name, but she appeared to have a permanent scowl on her face(even when first meeting). Although she spoke like she was educated in hair-care, she gave both my boyfriend and I the worst haircuts we have ever had. If you’re going to try this location, just make sure you get a stylist who is at least smiling when you meet them. Hopefully you’ll be in the clear!

Some call it Great Snips, some say it’s the best bang for your buck. I say it’s somewhere in the middle. I go to Great Clips for the price, and mainly because I always have a coupon. Generally they give me a pretty good haircut, but sometimes it is just sub-par. I rotate Great Clip locations, but I have had my last 4 cuts here because they have been doing a good job lately. The stylists here seem to be pretty knowledgeable and friendly, especially Michelle and Marquita. There is another lady who works there that has been there for years and can talk all day about St. Louis, TV shows, just about anything and she is so nice! Her name is Janice(I think). This place is open on Sundays too, which is a plus.

Solid place for a no-frills haircut. The wait’s never bad, I haven’t gotten an awful cut yet, and everybody always seems pretty friendly here. The value is just about right, too, as a haircut and tip come to under $ 20, more or less. And on the upside, nobody tries too hard to sell you hair products or talk you up when you just want to sit there quietly. It’s nice that they’re open on weekends, too– 10:00 — 6:00pm on Sundays, for instance, provides a great chance to get in there when you’re a little too busy to stop by during the work week. Don’t see any reason to find somewhere else any time soon, so you can definitely call me a fan of Great Clips in Clayton. Definitely stop by if you’re a guy that needs something simple, because they certainly fit the bill for me.
