This is a Bosnian restaurant! The food is fabulous. We were well taken care of by all of the staff. They took the time to explain the dishes! The décor is reminiscent of medieval architecture. We were a table of 5 and there was plenty of elbow room! The desert was exquisite. This is a top notch must go restaurant!!!

I love trying different ethnic foods. We had been here a few years ago and loved it. We went there the other night, and we still love it. I have the Valdostana. It was delicious!!! A woman at the table next to me ordered the Cevapi. I remember from the first time I was here were AWESOME. I regretted not ordering that as well. The front covered patio is very nice. The building is very unique on the inside. I think it used to be a dairy back in the day. Highly recommend this place.

I’m in a group of guys who dine at locally owned restaurants once a month and visited Grbic last night. Everyone agreed it was OUTSTANDING! The service ambiance(we ate on the patio) and food were great!

I celebrated my birthday on April 5th at Grbics and could not be more pleased. Great atmosphere, splendid food, fantastic waiter. What more could I ask for? Not a thing. I highly recommend them. I had never been to a Bosnian restaurant before and I was really pleased with the menu selections and the knowledge of the waiter. They even pleased my mom who said she’d recommend them to everyone and that is no easy task let me tell you. Thank you!

This place was amazing. The interior of the building is very unique arches, exposed brick and painted murals. I ordered the Salmon dish with the rice and potato soup. The soup was rich in flavor. The salmon was cooked to perfection and rice was just right. The rice had some added red and orange peppers as well. The wait staff was super friendly and the guests were spread out throughout the restaurant, so you didn’t feel like you were on-top of anyone.

I was very disappointed that they did not serve Burek(meat pie wrapped in filo dough). My Bosnian employees brought them to work luncheons and they were delicious. What I found very interesting was all the Schnitzel they had, there were 4 different schnitzels, I felt like i was in Germany. The Grbic platter I had was really good though, it had a massive amount of 4 different meats with some bell peppers, onions and cauliflower. I expected some rice or potato’s but there was none. I would have preferred half the meat and a scoop of rice to round it out. The place was almost empty when we arrived but they seated us just across from the bar right next to the main aisle where everyone walks. I didn’t care for that at all. It was a little cold inside but the décor was nice. Overall I good but nothing special.

This is, undoubtedly, one of the very best restaurants in all of St. Louis. I wanted to go for years and never got around to it. Finally, one Friday night when I forgot to make a dinner reservation anywhere, a group of us pulled the trigger and ventured over. The experience was so incredible and there were so many foods I simply had to try that I went back the very next night with my husband. To begin with, the place is stunning. Honestly, I don’t know why it’s not a more popular wedding reception venue here in St. Louis. The stones, the roaring fireplace, the ambience — it’s all impeccable. The attention to detail is remarkable. I read an article that the owner’s daughter hosted her marriage festivities there, which is likely the reason for the gorgeous facelift the restaurant underwent. THE. FOOD. IS. INSANE. Each time we go, we start with the cauliflower schnitzel. People who don’t even like cauliflower love this. It kind of reminds me of a classier version of fried macaroni and cheese, which I’m quite partial to. For dinner I’ve now tried the Valdostano, the chicken Jäger Schnitzel, and the mixed Grbic plate. Each is incredible. True to its description, the Valdostano is straight, creamy comfort food. I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. Rich and delicious, to say the least. The chicken Jäger Schnitzel is probably my favorite thus far, though it’s a tough call. The chicken is so unbelievably tender and flavorful I can honestly say I have never had better anywhere else. The mixed Grbic plate is always a favorite with the men at the table, but it’s less exciting for me since I don’t love the taste of sausage-style meats. Still, some of the meats on that plate are well worth trying. For dessert we’ve tried the Baklava and the apple strudel. The apple strudel is homemade and delicious, though I have to say the Baklava was the clear cut winner. Their baklava is a must-try, and you simply can’t leave without it. Next on my list is to try the family style dining. When I see the servers loading up clay baking dishes into the gigantic, roaring fire place(which crackles so loudly and beautifully that you can hear it from clear across the restaurant), I become insanely jealous of whoever is about to sit down with friends and have the best meal ever. Eat here.

A place to go to experience something somewhat different, this kind of restaurant is not common in America and I hope the do well because I appreciate the variety that they offer. The food is like Eastern European food I’ve had in the past, but that doesn’t mean that it’s good. Also, it’s more exotic in name than in product. Had the Jäger Schnitzel and the Mixed Plate = huge portions. But I agree with some of the other posters that the meats are too salty. Also, while many people on here loved the mushroom sauce, for me, it tasted like Campbell’s cream of mushroom with slices of button mushroom added, nothing special. The bread is similar to white bread I’ve had in places like Turkey, barely better than Wonder. Also, I would rather have something better and smaller. The prices were around $ 22 to $ 25 for mains. I would have been happier if the portions were half the size but better prepared.

My lunch: Sarma(Rice and ground pork wrapped inside a steamed cabbage leaf) Bosnian Food Background: Completely new to this realm of Eastern European cuisine, but I was really excited to try it out. Food Review: The Sarma came in a pair with a side of mashed potatoes. The sarma was good, but I feel a little jipped paying $ 17 for a dish that came with mashed potatoes that tasted like the kinds you get from store-bought powdered mixes. Ambiance: A lot of exposed brick and dim lighting — kind of reminds me of a stripped down Olive Garden. I would’ve expected some booths or more intimate seating for such a large, flat space. The space has so much potential to create a more intimate atmosphere, but there’s not enough privacy for diners. Bonus: Free bread and butter before the meal. TL;DR: Interesting experience and decent food but a little too pricey.

I came to Grbic with my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day because we saw it on a list of STL’s top 100 restaurants and we had never tried Bosnian food before. It was exceptionally snowy on Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was a bit of a drive away in an area I haven’t really been before. The restaurant itself was dimly lit and pretty open, with a bar on one side and tables on the other; it reminded me of a nice Italian restaurant. When I was looking at the menu, I really didn’t know what most of the dishes were, but I settled on the Mixed Grbic Grill plate — 5 different kinds of grilled meats and veggies. My girlfriend ordered the sarma — a burrito like boiled cabbage filled with spiced ground meat and rice, with a tomato based sauce and a side of mashed potatoes. When our food came, the portions were pretty large and generous, but I guess it’s what we were paying for. I tried all the different types of meat: a veal burger, a strip veal steak, 4 links of cevapi sausages, a chicken kabob, and grilled chicken. My favorites were the cevapi and grilled chicken, but everything was flavorful and tender. It was just a lot of meat, and I wish there were a bit more veggies. My girlfriend ate one of her cabbage burritos, and took the other one home. Her mashed potatoes were strange because they tasted like the instant ones you get out of the box. Her dish was pretty interesting though — the cabbage and sauce made it kind of tangy and also not too heavy, but the filling was pretty flavorful. I enjoyed Grbic and trying Bosnian food for the first time, but I probably wouldn’t come back. **Eating my leftovers the next day, and I noticed everything on my mixed grill was actually pretty salty. It’s hard to tell when you don’t have any carbs or veggies to compare to. Watch out!

This was my first venture into trying Bosnian food, and I’m really glad I did. My friend had heard from a lot of others that Grbic was definitely one of the best in St. Louis. We popped in on Saturday night to see the restaurant was bustling, but not overly crowded. It also had a parking lot, which was super convenient. We perused the menu, unsure of what the eat, when we finally settled on the following: Food: Cevapi — Consisted of several small beef sausages with Lepinja bread, tomatoes, onions and a sauce. The sausages were well grilled and the bread was delicious and had herbs and pieces of onion baked into it. The two items were a little on the salty side, but adding the onions and tomatoes helped to cut back on that. The sauce resembled Thousand Island dressing. Jäger Schnitzel — We were a little disappointed because we thought that the Schnitzel would be breaded and fried, but it turns out it was only grilled and seasoned; that being said the meat was moist and cooked well. The white mushroom sauce was creamy and delicious, and definitely my favorite part of the dish! I couldn’t get enough of it. The spaetzels were really well cooked — very soft and buttered lightly. Apple Strudel — I was not particularly impressed with this. The puff pastry was really delicate and light, so it wasn’t completely flaky when combined with the apples. The apples also weren’t sweet enough for my taste. Atmosphere: Even though the restaurant was large, it almost felt homey. Several of the walls were made of brick, and there was a cute fireplace in the back of the restaurant. There were a lot of families. Service: SO good. The waiters were so sweet, from giving us recommendations and automatically splitting our food into two plates when we said we wanted to share our entrée(that has never happened to me before at any restaurant anywhere). Overall a great experience for the authentic food and lovely service.

As many reviewers have already noted, Grbic is a hidden gem tucked away in Little Bosnia. It’s a bit of a way from highway 64, but if you can navigate around to find it you won’t regret it. The restaurant itself is a large event space that can be used for parties/large groups. Their décor is of industrial feel with bricking on the inside. There’s pictures of Eastern Europe hung through out the restaurant. Cozy and cute! As my first authentic East European cuisine experience, I was thoroughly surprised and satisfied having enjoyed quite a hearty meal. We ordered the grbic mixed grill and the chicken cordon which was off of their winter menu. The chicken cordon was by far my favorite. It was lightly breaded chicken breast stuffed with turkey ham and gouda cheese. I asked for their house made sauce on the side and dipped the chicken in that. It was cooked to perfection and so flavorful. It came with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes. Their dessert menu is traditional Bosnian desserts and you can’t go wrong with anything you pick. Try the Delicija Torta cake!

Another International Supper Club means another 5 star restaurant! I literally knew nothing about Eastern European cuisine until my visit this past holidays and I was blown away by this place. This isn’t a «hole in the wall» international hot spot, it’s a fine dining experience with streamlined service and it’s own private parking lot. The space itself is huge and I imagine it’s a fantastic event space. It has a modern-industrial appeal with quaint decorations. They have a huge picture-perfect roaring fire place in one of their bigger rooms when I visited that I hope is there all the time. They have a huge wine and beer list with cheap house options for you diners on a budget. Their menu selection is large but I was told to try the Jäger Schnitzel so I did! It was to die for. The dish offered a hearty portion with tons of flavor. The creamy mushroom sauce on top is addictive to say the least. I look forward to coming back to Grbic and showing my friends this hidden gem!

Grbic was such a fantastic start to the holiday festivities! I have to say though, everything I ordered during the ISC dinner was highly due to Ben S.‘s stunning review. I started with the squash soup. It made me feel like I was in a Seinfeld soup Nazi episode. If there was a way to truly describe it, the show had already done it. For my main entrée, I ordered the Weiner Schnitzel(veal) and it was massive and delicious! I think I took half of it home and someone made a joke about how it was as big as I am. The entrée was served with spaetzel which I have never had before but I really liked it. It had a subtle but wonderful flavor. Everything I had filled me up but I did save a tiny room for dessert because I simply had to. I ordered the palacinke and oh my goodness! It was a good thing I was already sitting down otherwise, I am pretty sure it would have made my knees buckle. The crepes were a lovely soft texture but the highlight was the hazelnut chocolate sauce with a slight crunch from the chopped walnuts. I think I may be in-love. If there was a dessert worth falling in-love with, this would be it. Service was marvelous. We only had one person for the entire table but he managed to deliver such an excellent service from water refills to bringing out the food, boxing up the leftovers and filling other random requests. The inside of the restaurant was great! It had more of an intimate setting with the dim lighting and nice spacing of tables. You should definitely take a date here, they’ll be impressed!

This restaurant is going on my «Hidden Gems» list. I’d heard of it for years but had shunned it due to my perception of there not being much for me to eat there, as a vegetarian. My good friends Ben and Charleen S recently went and raved about it and encouraged me to go since they do have vegetarian options, so I scheduled our next International Supper Club get together here. We came before Christmas and WOW is the inside gorgeous! The room we were in had a huge brick fireplace, woodburning, very cozy and beautiful. This would be a great place for a family reunion, rehearsal dinner, etc. Especially in winter! Our table was so nicely set. Our waiter was on point the entire night. Service was FABULOUS! We wanted for nothing and they handled our part of 14 seamlessly. They started by serving us bread — it looked like fairly normal, white bread but it was delicious, along with the yummy butter. I couldn’t stop eating it! I ordered the cauliflower schnitzel and the butternut squash soup(which was on their autumn menu, so is no longer being served as it was the last week of it). I also got a side of spaetzle, which I love. The cauliflower came out — YUM! So flavorful and delicious, with a red pepper sauce on the side. The soup was smooth but with potatoes and carrots in it. It was very good. The spaetzle also was super good. I ate almost everything, and I was stuffed! I didn’t stick around for dessert since I was getting sick with a cold, but it looked delicious. Next time! And there will definitely be a next time soon.

Amazing authentic Bosnian food restaurant located in the heart of Dutch Town. Grbic has been on my To-Do List for years(I know it’s quite pathetic). I finally got the chance to check this gem off my list on an ISC outing. From the outside the restaurant appears small compared to its spacious interior. There’s seating for large parties, couples, kids, banquet sets and outdoor during warm weather months. There’s a cozy fire place burning Yule logs and beautiful holiday decorations to create a festive feel. The restroom is even roomy, very well kept with a warm feel. All in all I love the space. Now on to the food. Ahhhhhmazing! That’s it. One word sums it up… Ahhhhhmazing! The generous 9oz tilapia was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious vegetable rice blend that was very flavorful and filling. I ate this dish over 2 meals; taking half to go. For dessert I opted for the Nutella stuffed crêpe that was so good it made me wanna slap my mama! Although the crêpe was filled with Nutella it was very light in terms of a dessert. The house made whipped cream was tasty and complimented the crêpe well. I can not wait to return to Grbic for their superior food with service to match. ~Christy

This establishment could not be more hidden. I was familiar with this area in my youth and my truck driving days. But 40 plus years things change and I was about as lost as one can get with a GPS. Gribic is located at the confluence of three streets and the signage is not obvious. I stopped my car in the middle of three streets and looked around and thought this must be the place. Eureka! I was or rather the GPS was spot on. Now knowing it is somewhat hard to find I walk in and what I expected to see and what I saw was stunning. Beautiful wood, table cloths, fireplace, ambiance of the first order. The thought comes to my mind of a expecting a sow’s ear and seeing a silk purse. Gribic is one of those places that should not be visited once and say been there done that. I saw at least 4 items I really want to try. Their goulash and Swiss specialty being first to try followed by the veal schnitzel. For starters I ordered the Tarhana which is a traditional soup of the Balkans; homemade sourdough noodles with ground beef and vegetables. More simply it was a lintel soup. Darn fine soup. I ordered the Mixed Gribic plate which consists of A mix of their finest cuts of meat grilled to perfection: Babo’s chicken, Cevapi, Pljeskavica, Chicken Shish Kabob, cutlet of veal served with vegetables. I cleaned my plate and felt like I had a wonderful Bosnian feast. Yes Bosnian. St. Louis has had the great privilege to be an immigration point for the people of Bosnia. And they have given so much to the area in culture and customs. Gribic is just a small part of a great story of immigration and energizing a city.

What a fabulous experience! Amazing food, great atmosphere, nearly flawless service all combined to make a perfect dining experience after walking through the garden glow at the Missouri Botanical Garden on a balmy night before Thanksgiving. We arrived a but earlier than our reservation but it was no big deal as the place was only about ¼ full. The wife is picky about tables and seating so our experience was off to a great start when the host told us we could pick where we would like to sit. Our first bite of the night was bread & butter. Average bread but great butter. Served just a little cooler than room temperature and so creamy with a slight saltiness. Delicious! Next up was the appetizer I ordered for the table and the soup that the wife commandeered. I did manage exactly 2 bites of the squash soup and it was fantastic! It was their seasonal offering and it will apparently be gone in another couple of weeks. The appetizer was on the menu as cevapi — small beef sausages served with a savory sauce and lepinja, an amazing grilled bread. They had tomatoes, onions and feta cheese as a garnish. Cut a piece of sausage, add a small amount of the sauce, a chunk of feta and a piece of bread and you’ve got an amazing bite — savory, buttery, smoky and meaty… all in one bite. I ordered their mixed Grbic plate to be able to taste more of their menu on one plate. It included a grilled veal steak, a chopped steak topped with butter, more of the cevapi, a skewer of grilled chicken breast with peppers & onions and a dark meat chicken dish that was topped with peppers and onions. Everything was delicious but my favorite bite was the chopped steak with butter — so yummy! I really enjoy a mixed grill and this one was no exception. Kid 1 ordered the jäger schnitzel and I tried a couple of bites. As much as I enjoyed my food, I will order a schnitzel next time. I loved the crunch from the pan-fry and the meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, probably because the family also owns the butcher shop that supplies the restaurant. Most of their schnitzel offerings also come with spaetzle. I’ve been to a good number of European restaurants on this side of the ocean looking for spaetzle like I have when I’m in Germany. I can’t say that theirs is the same but it’s certainly one of the better ones I’ve had on this continent. Dessert…wow! We ordered a baklava and an order of palacinke. The baklava was certainly one if the best available in St Louis although a little different than available in Greek restaurants in that it did not include any appreciable amount of rose water. Flaky, sweet and nutty all at once. Great dessert! As much as we all enjoyed the baklava, the palacinke was even better! There is just a certain something about how the Europeans make a dessert crêpe and that certain something was present in this dessert crêpe offering. I love the combination of Nutella and crepes but these guys added some chopped walnuts and that somehow took it to another level.

I checked out Grbic on a whim through a groupon. I went with a couple other friends who had spoken highly of the restaurant. It is a bit off the beaten path, but once you find it you will be pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. The food was primarily derived from local sources. This isn’t something that is a deciding factor for me, but it is something I appreciate with restaurants do it. I got the Tarhana soup and then Chicken Rouladen for my main meal. The soup was just okay, but the chicken was great. Overall I thought it was a nice change of pace. I will head back when I am in the area.

I had no idea what to expect when I went to this restaurant. The inside is brick with murals across the upper portions of the walls. It’s quite large, almost like a banquet hall, although it appears they have a banquet hall attached. The food is good. The photos don’t do it justice because the lighting is slightly pink/purple and it gives it a terrible coloring. Service is excellent here. They remove dishes promptly, they refill glasses quickly, and they seem knowledgeable about the food. Here’s what we tried: Cevapi(full order 10) — these were essentially sausage links. They were flavorful, but not terribly unique. The bread served alongside was good-garlicky and buttery. Soup of the day– tarhana– beef and grains Sarma– cabbage filled with beef and rice with a side of mashed potatoes, lighter than expected, size-able portion Valdostana– super rich dish, but delicious Schnitzel– large serving with a side of spaetzle, not too greasy Overall, the food is tasty; it may be a little pricey for what it is. I was hoping there were more dishes that were unique/traditional. I don’t know if I’ll have a craving for this, but if you are seeking Bosnian food, it’s certainly worth the excursion.
