This is one of my favorite GW in the STL area. They always have great selection of kids clothes for my son. I find a lot of new Target clothes there. And on top of it when they have their half priced days I find shirts and pants for $ 1 to $ 1.50 and they are brand new. I have found brand new shoes for 3 dollars. For the most part the staff is friendly.

I didn’t make a specific trip to shop here, but I was driving past when I realized there was a bag of clothes in my car that I had been meaning to donate. So I ended up stopping to drop that off and I decided to look around inside, since I was already there. After glancing at the other reviews, I expected more from this store. However, it didn’t impress me at all. It’s on the small side as far as Goodwill stores go and the really annoying thing for me is that hardly anything is labeled with the price. When I shop at Goodwill, I use the price to determine if I’m getting a bargain or not. If I don’t know the price until I get to the cash register, it’s not conducive to me making a good decision as to whether or not I should buy it because I’m not the greatest at making decisions immediately. I like to have the facts and time to think them over, and that’s not possible for most items at this store. However, some reviews mentioned that their selection of clothing is great, and I didn’t feel like looking at or trying on clothes that day(I was looking for household items, décor, and small furniture). I would be willing to go back to check it out, even though I know the prices will be hard to find or not there at all.

The best Goodwill in the STL area! I always find something here and never leave disappointed. This Goodwill has brand new Target clothes, shoes, and swimwear, no older than one season. They always have awesome sales(such at 50% certain tag colors, etc) and the store is clean, clothes are color coded, and employees are very friendly!

Probably one of the best Goodwills I’ve ever been to(in St. Louis) in terms of clothes. The store was jam-packed with pretty high-quality finds. It was also super organized. I’d say this is the best Goodwill in St. Louis for clothes. You do have to have an associate unlock the dressing rooms for you, which is a pain, but whatever. As Allison mentioned, it is difficult to figure out the prices on certain items, but it makes checking out more exciting. It’s like the lottery. Can I afford to buy everything I just shoved in my shopping cart? Can I not??? Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! So exciting. Kind of.

At dinner last week, a new friend raved about this particular Goodwill location, saying that it was clean and well stocked. I decided to hit it up on my way to a friend’s house in South County to search for the perfect prom dress for FraileyProm( — BETHERE!). After parking in the sort-of awkward lot, I headed inside and went straight to the formals. Maybe it was because we’re just getting out of high school prom season, but the store had plenty of dresses that I wanted to try on. I was surprised at how many were around my size, too, as most dresses that I find at Goodwill are size 10 and up. They were a good mixture of prom and bridesmaid dresses, and they were surprisingly clean and elegant; I had initially went in thinking I’d go the tacky-prom route, but I actually liked wha I saw. I ended up with a long magenta bell-shaped number for $ 10 after trying on six items. I also found some violet shiny fabric for $ 1.50 that I may add to my dress or sew up as a wrap. My problem with this store(and most Goodwill stores) is that there are no prices on items. Sure, there are signs above a section saying very generally($ 10 and up) or such, but that’s not helpful. What constitutes«and up?» I don’t want to waste time trying on a dress that I assume is $ 10 but have it ring up at $ 30. The main cashier looked rather annoyed when I asked him about pricing. He explained that everything is what the general sign says unless there’s a mark on the tag inside the item. Well, what kind of a mark? A black or silver or other marker line on or near the tag. I didn’t encounter any items in any department with these mysterious lines, so I can’t say if they really exist. Adding to my confusion, the clothes have plastic tags sticking off of them that are red, green, blue, yellow or other colors. I returned to the cashier and asked if I could see the color key, assuming that the colors meant certain prices. He huffed and said that the tags were for Goodwill’s inventory only and meant nothing to consumers. Ok, then. When I finally went to check out, there were four cashiers standing behind or around the checkout counter. No other customers were in line, but I had to wait for a few minutes as they finished talking. The youngest cashier finally looked tiredly at me and asked«Are you buying those?» I said yes and magically refrained from saying«Duh.» She rolled her eyes, had the same trouble I had discerning the prices, and balled up my purchases into a regular-sized bag instead of using one of the larger bags. She didn’t say«Thanks for stopping in» or anything. Ugh. Not impressed. Still, this store was pretty clean and decently organized. I’d return to this location if I had another fancy party or some time to kill on the way to my friend’s house, I guess.

Goodwill is a charitable organization that resells donated secondhand goods to support their mission. It smells like old stuff and you may not see anything but junk, but the prices rock and you just never know what you may uncover if you have time to mill through the racks and shelves. They’ve got clothes, home furnishings, lamps, knick knacks, art, small appliances, jewelry, shoes, scarves, & hats. I’ve bought several things that I absolutely love and the prices are great! This location is fairly organized compared to some.

Goodwill on Bayless is a great place to find clothes! And this coming from someone who does not classify herself as a thrift store junkie, or someone who makes it a point to model their fashion sense on looking hipstery cool with my obviously thrifted clothes. I’ve gone to this location and the one on Forest Park ave a few times now and each time I’ve purchased several things I could wear on a night out or to the office. One of the more important things to note about Goodwill is that a lot of times you will find clothes that haven’t even been worn, and seem to be overstock from Target or Walmart. From these items I usually buy workout shorts or t shirts, and dresses and skirts that while might not be the hottest things around they are good standard pieces, or building blocks that make great foundations to cute outfits for work, all for only 6 bucks or 4 bucks a piece. It used to be that you could find funny, ironic, vintage t shirts at goodwills and salvation armys but, not too much anymore now that specialty shops buy up these items and resell them at too high of prices(hello rag – o-rama) but it is good to know that you can still find great basics at less than bargain pricing. This location in particular is always nicely kept, and you don’t have to worry about visiting in a seedy neighborhood. It is also nice because after stopping here you can drive down I55 and go straight to the other location on Lindbergh and Baptist Church, and if you dare, get back on 270 West and head over to the one on Watson, and make a complete Goodwill loop out of your morning, or Saturday afternoon! When I was here last it struck me that the section of these stores that houses the random miscellaneous objects makes for some pretty awesome pictures that are good for posting on Flickr. This time I focused on Barbie dolls, and how you always find them heaped together in a naked pile, whether it’s in your own basement, a garage sale, or a thrift store, this is the way most Barbies seem to die.
