It only seemed appropriate to go for the affogato while spending the afternoon on The Hill(Italian District of STL). Gelato di Rosi offers around 20 gelato varieties and several coffee drinks– what better way to pair them both than one scoop of amaretto gelato with one shot of espresso poured over top? Bonus: the presentation is quite lovely. $ 4.95 The staff is both friendly and efficient. The shop offers indoor and outdoor seating — plenty of outlets if you’re looking to work on your computer/charge up.

I had Gelato Di Riso for dinner tonight. I ordered a medium mint chocolate chip. It was creamy and delicious. There was no coconut, pistachio, or stracciatella. Those are my favorite flavor. Still a wonderful treat on a warm summer day though!

Great Gelato! The place is small and easy to miss, but your remember it forever when you find it! The coffee ice cream tasted like a fresh brewed cup of coffee! Amazing!!!

Customer service at its best. It’s refreshing to see someone who loves their job. Nice neighborhood, outdoor seating and lots of choices. Great after dinner desert.

The Gelato here is good(but that’s hard to mess up). I didn’t try any of the coffee. There is a dining area with 5 tables inside to sit and talk or work. The owner was working the register and was very friendly. No WiFi, but if you can set up a hot spot, this is a great place to work on a laptop for a few hours. It’s tucked away in a nice old-fashioned type neighborhood. If they had working WiFi, this place would receive 5 stars.

I am from Detroit and I swear I would go back to St. Louis just to get this gelato. Stopped here after dinner in The Hill and it was the best decision ever. They had a variety of gelato flavors. I had a hard time deciding between the mint chocolate chip and hazelnut. I picked the hazelnut and it was the best decision ever. It was creamy and smooth with the perfect amount of hazelnut flavor. Not so much that it was overwhelming and not so little that you could not taste it. My friend absolutely loved the flavor that he chose too. All in all this place was just AMAZING!

Still one of my favorite places on the hill! Have the absolute best gelato in all different flavors! I also love stopping in before work for coffee, as long as I’m not in a rush bc one of the ladies that’s works in the morning takes a while to make it. They make great lattes and the best iced mocha I’ve ever had!

Apparently they close during the winter months(Jan — Feb). I had no idea because I found this place on Unilocal and it said they were open year round… misleading! Hopefully, I can grab gelato here next time I’m in town…

Yum-ah Yum-ah Yum-ah! I was just joking as we walked around the great«Hill» neighborhood that«I wouldn’t mind accidentally finding an open gelato place for a giant serving of something great». Guess what we just found? That very thing! Friendly service, sampling encouraged. Many great flavors available(stuck with traditional lemon) in generous servings. Outdoor seating was a bonus on this perfect summer evening. Approved!

My friend and I went on a reverse progressive dinner through the Hill Thursday night. Our second stop was at Gelato Di Riso. It’s small, it’s clean, it’s cool inside. It’s not overly feminine or anything. I’m so tired of dessert shops made to look like something designed for a five year-old-girl. Quite a few flavors. I had samples of two flavors before ordering a small with a scoop each of chocolate and peanut. The weather was so nice that we ate ouside. In July. In St. Louis. That’s rare. They have a small sink in the dining area because they knew my hands would get sticky. There is a little water cooler with small cups available for self-service because they knew the gelato would make me thirsty. They are so smart!

Great flavors, great little place, great people. It’s a small place, but it’s the absolute perfect place to grab a little sweet tooth fix. One flavor I got was chocolate hazelnut, and that was amazing. The texture, the flavor, the consistency, everything. The seating area is small, but it’s cute. Sunlight from windows, historic photos, and an inviting color scheme, makes it fell like you’re just eating some treats in your own house. They also have outdoor seating! Their flavors change a lot, so don’t be disappointed if ok your next visit your favorite isn’t there. Trying something else! You might be surprised at what else might be just as good! I haven’t tried any coffees yet, but I’ll for sure be back to try them out. Their website has a coupon! Be sure to print it out, they won’t accept it off your phone.

Yum! What a fun and delicious little café and gelateria. My boyfriend and I stopped in after lunch for a little dessert. He got blueberry, raspberry and cherry gelato and a macchiato and I got a cappucino and 2 biscotti because they had a special. The biscotti were both delicious and his gelato was very flavorful. The staff was friendly, conversational and told me about the special deal they did for biscotti and coffee. Everything we had was delicious and the presentation was impressive! The atmosphere inside was nice, very trendy and matched the style of food served. They also had nice outdoor tables to sit at!

I just discovered Gelato Di Riso and I am already a fan. I love their Salted Caramel. I also tried their Cherry ____(drawing a blank) and it was rich and creamy. I was almost tempted to order it, but I love Caramel too much. I also tried the BF’s Tiramisu and it was tasty too. I will be coming to Gelato Di Riso and buying Gelato by the pint and quart in the future. I’m sure I’ll be enjoying a cone on the drive home. Why it took me so long to discover this cute little Gelato shop on The Hill is beyond me.

Maybe it’s the Italian in me, but I’ll choose gelato over ice cream any old day. Nothing beats the creamy, rich flavor. To get my fix, I frequent Gelato Di Riso. This little shop is conveniently located in what I consider the heart of The Hill — across from St. Ambrose, diagonal from Amighettis. They have a few inside and outside tables to choose from, depending on the weather. Service is always extremely pleasant. The gelato is amazing! My favorite flavor is Straciatella. This is the Italian version of chocolate chip, however, the chips are really curled shavings of chocolate. Outstanding! I’ve also enjoyed the Bacio(chocolate hazelnut), the salted peanut, the pistachio and the almond. They always have about 10 – 12 flavors on hand, and they rotate. The best part is that you can get two flavors in one cup — a great option for people who are afraid of commitment. And don’t worry about the tiny cups and tiny spoons. The flavor is big and the smallest size always suffices to satisfy. Grab one with an espresso and enjoy the flavor explosion!

I am padawan to Mistress Gelato, and already I have learned so much: #1. As Superman always would win a fight with Batman, Spider-Man, or The Hulk, so Gelato always wins the contest against Ice Cream, Frozen Custard, or Frozen Yogurt. #2. Gelato venues tend to have comfortable seating and interesting interior design. #3. Gelato places brew good coffee. #4. The gelato establishments in this city can construct a sandwich that compares favorably with one produced by most delis. Now, for the actual review: On my way to a meeting, I stopped by GDR for takeout lunch. Street parking in the neighborhood is usually tight, but I found a space just a few houses west. Inside, I ordered a Capri panini, which came with beautiful thick-cut house potato chips and a pickle slice, and was neatly packaged in a clear plastic container. While waiting, there was plenty to read, but the best part was looking over the beautiful gelato, and getting a sample spoonful. Planning ahead, I can’t imagine a better ending to a summer dinner on the Hill than to come here for dessert. My Unilocal profile always asks about my «current crush,» and gelato has inspired mine: «le gelato bariste di St. Louis.» Yeah, I don’t speak Italian either. But you can run that through an Italian-to-English translator.
