Nice but slow service. Typical college bar feel with a bar menu(fried food and such). But they have 600 TVs so it’s still a good spot to catch ALL of the games.

PSA — Don’t order the fish and don’t let them know you’re in a hurry. I’m not much of a complainer(benefit of the doubt all around), but this meal literally left a bad taste in my mouth for the remainder of the evening. My wife and I recently stopped here to grab a quick meal before catching a show at the Fox. We noticed people who had arrived after us receiving their food and let our waitress know that we were in a bit of a hurry. That was a mistake on our part. We received our food a short time later and, while it looked delicious, it simply wasn’t cooked through. My wife’s salmon sandwich didn’t seem quite done to her and my fish(I got the fish and chips) was golden brown on the outside, but slimy and chewy on the inside. I understand that you don’t want fish to get dry, but it just seems like our order got lost in the shuffle and the food was cooked too quickly. We left our plates half eaten, paid our check, and ran to catch the show. We didn’t have time to send our food back, but hopefully this doesn’t happen to people in the future. I would rather someone let me know that the wait is going to be longer than expected, than to be served food that hasn’t been cooked through. Side note: The fries that came with the fish and chips were bland. I’m not picky, but for someone that had to fill up on those fries, I was hoping for a bit of salt or something. We won’t be returning, but at least the beer was cold and we have a funny story to tell about a comically-bad meal.

The waitress working on December 1 at at 4 pm was not very nice at all! We were here for a group meeting at SLU and she did not treat us with much respect. Also they have the rule that you have to buy 1 drink for every half off appetizer that you get… We ordered like 7 drinks and she was like«well you can’t get more apps unless you get more drinks». How rude was that! Also when you get delivery they charge a fee to order out! This is so horrible and is the only place in STL to do that! I think the food is decent that’s why it got 3 stars but the service is aweful!

I went here on a Saturday afternoon during a Cards game) and the place was pretty dead. Nice selection of beer on tap. Food(mac & cheese with fried shrimp) was okay. Prices were okay. The bartender did a great job(and she was cute!).

The service was good and honestly, everyone’s food except for mine looked delicious! I ordered the beer cheese soup and it was a gelatinous bowl of goop… Honestly, you picked it up with the spoon and it plopped down on top of the soup in the bowl — remained in FORM — like pudding. I was struggling to get through it in front of my co-workers. I didn’t want to seem ungrateful since they were buying me lunch, but I am a texture eater and I was struggling to get through it. I should have gotten a burger like the others — this was awful. Since I work so close, chances are it will get one more opportunity to get an updated review — but after that I am done with it. Who can serve a gelatinous goop and call it «soup»?(Hehe, I rhymed while trying to be totally serious!) You can probably get away with that if its a chowder or a potato soup … or something from a can… but this was completely unacceptable. Gross.

Very good food. The fried cheese was crispy and, of course cheesy. I ordered the BLFGT(Bacon, lettuce, and fried green tomato) sandwich. So good and the atmosphere was cool. Servers were very friendly.

Disclaimer: We frequented this locale prior to a show, although we were not attending the show; thus, the establishment was slammed. Nonetheless, $ 100 bill yielded cold food and a decidedly staggered order delivery with the soup and salad enter coming last!!! As a SLU parent who visits often, I would like to provide a more positive review; however it is clear the kitchen is not well organized or managed. I have worked in a restaurant, next to a venue, and it was standard practice to ask if a table was in need of rapid service or could wait, with complimentary appetizer or drink, clearly not contemplated here. My ribeye steak was cold and tough, one daughter’s burger and fries were cold, another daughter’s fish was under cooked(fish and chips), cider ran out, wine was late, etc. In toto, this place was totally disappointing. My suggestion would be to consider alternatives. On the upside the environment was nice.

We went to Field House P & G for dinner before the evening show at the Fox. I got the Grouben(Blackened grouper, creamy cole slaw, remoulade and Swiss cheese on marbled rye) with Cole Slaw. The attentive server reminded me there was Cole Slaw on the sandwich, but I can never get too much Cole Slaw! Excellent meal, fantastic service and a warm & friendly atmosphere. The numerous TV’s showing any sporting event worth watching was a nice bonus. I will definitely return!

Stopped by for a going away happy hour and everything was phenom! Artichoke Cheese Dip was top-notch, server(Randi) was ONIT! Great happy hour prices as well. My only regret was that I didn’t come here more often throughout grad school. Well done, Field House! I’ll be back.

Typical bar food, typical draft list missing a lot of craft(although there’s some). Our table got a breaded chicken sandwich and a buffalo chicken sandwich. It’s exactly what you’d expect, nothing mouth watering but decently satisfying at a good price. For two of us to eat it came to roughly $ 20. The big draw of this place though is the TVs! So many televisions litter this place. We went on a hockey night and the place was packed with both Blues and Blackhawks fans watching their respective games. If you’re looking for somewhere in city limits that has a lot of big TVs to watch the game, this is the place.

I visited the Field House on a Saturday afternoon with a few friends. We wanted to just stop in quickly for a couple beers. We ended up staying a bit longer because the Field House was the perfect place to hang out, relax, and catch up on all the games.(One of the bartenders even put the K-State game on just for me so I may be a bit biased!) They’ve have TV’s just about everywhere. I don’t think there’s a single spot in the whole place where you don’t have a view of at least 3TV’s. The service was friendly and the restaurant is clean… something that isn’t always typical of sports bars. :) The front part of the restaurant also has garage style windows that they open when the weather is nice. This place is definitely on my list of places now to watch games at. Can’t wait to come back!

Went here for a business lunch and the place was nice. Staff was friendly and laid back. A little slow getting to us for stuff but did apologize when we were talking work and not in a hurry anyway. Everyone enjoyed the food and the price was good.

I’ve been 5 – 6 times, and the kitchen does seem to be slow, but luckily all the servers are friendly and that helps offset the wait times. Their fish dishes are well above average for American bar-style food and I would heartily recommend any of the fish, especially the Grouben. It’s grilled grouper done as a Ruben with spicy coleslaw on rye. Really tasty, good texture to the fish and with the crisp of the toast and spice of the slaw, each bite feels and tastes great. The fries were absolute standard. Not good, not bad. I left very sated, but I can’t say the same for my friend who got the ½ sandwich and soup. He was still hungry after eating those smaller portions. Nice open air atmosphere, with plenty of quality TVs showing the current game. All in all, for any minus there’s a plus. So I’d make this a sports watching destination, but probably not a go-to for a family meal or a place to take out-of-town guests. Wish I could go 3.5, since they’re not quite a four in my book.

I had a semi-rough first experience with Field House but I wanted to wait until after a return trip to review. Glad I did. I have been searching for a non-dive, non-hipster, non-overcrowded bar to watch Cardinal’s games in and I think this may be my place. Not a huge sports bar but it can definitely accommodate groups of most sizes. One huge screen in the«dining area» and less huge screens in the bar area. Clean and modern without being obnoxious and feeling like a chain. Food– On my second visit I didn’t eat, but the food is pretty typical bar food. Our waitress must have been having a hard day because we had some issues with ordering and service. We stuck with appetizers and ordered a pizza to go before we left. Nothing extraordinary. Beer: Good selection on tap and seasonal changes. The bar tender on my second visit knew what she was talking about and was able to make recommendations and offered samples. Good happy hour specials and they are just fine with letting you sit and watch the game.

Alright, this time the place wasn’t busy and it was still slow. My cocktail barely got there before my meal. I wasn’t in the mood for mac ‘n cheese, so I ordered a cheese pizza. It was okay, but I was genuinely sorry I didn’t feel like mac ‘n cheese.

A group of us from work were planning on going out for lunch one Friday afternoon, but deciding on a place was much harder than it should have been. There are a ton of great restaurants in midtown which were provided as options; however, nothing sounded appealing to all of us. That was until I suggested the Field House. Since no one else from the group had been(nor heard of it) the decision was finally made. Wahoo! We arrived a little before noon and were seated right away. The first thing we all noticed was that it was not very busy for a lunch hour. We were okay with that! Our server came over right away and took our drink orders and provided us information about their daily specials. She was really sweet and did a great job at taking care of us. Once our drinks arrived we were ready to order. I kept it simple by ordering a grilled chicken sandwich. I can’t remember what everyone ordered, but I do know that they had a shrimp po’boy as their special for the day and I know that was on the table! As time went on more and more people began arriving and the place started to get packed with the lunch crowd. We waited for our food and had some good conversation. Our server came over often to check on our drinks and update us on our food. Eventually the food came out and was piping hot! Good job Field House. Once we started eating the table got quiet as we all enjoyed our meals. Overall, I think everyone was pleased with the decision to eat here and I know a few of us plan to go back maybe for a happy hour? We paid our bills and before leaving our server also provided a few of us to go cups for our drinks! Very cool. Kudos! The Field House should not be overlooked when in midtown and as others have mentioned it is a great place to watch a game! Tons of tv’s all over the place. Is it baseball season yet?

Color me surprised! I had never been to Field House until tonight, and I know for sure that I’ll be back. My sister and I wanted to go somewhere pre-Blues game, and I’m so glad we landed where we did. It’s pretty huge so there’s a lot of seating, and since the weather was nice, the whole front of the place was opened up which definitely added to the atmosphere. Inside? Typical sports bar… tons of tables, even more televisions(a seriously impressive number of them actually), and a nice sized beer list. I decided on a Schlafly Pale Ale, and it was given to me in less than a minute — our service was absolutely stellar. They have a pretty good selection of food and we decided to get the pretzels and toasted ravioli. The t-ravs were pretty standard and I probably wouldn’t get them again, but the pretzels were soft, fluffy, and came with a cheese sauce and a spicy honey mustard. Really great! They have a dining section if you want to be more civilized and sit down for an actual meal, but holy crap, the bar area ROCKS for watching a game. I was nervous that it would be full of SLU kids but the crowd was older than I expected and everyone just had a bunch of fun. A breeze coming in, Cards and Blues on TVs right next to each other, Schlafly… what’s not to love? I’ll be back sooner than later.
