The elves really are underfoot in a charming and enchanting kind of way. The innkeeper Karen is also so warm and wonderful. She makes homemade organic yogurt, granola, your choice of brownies or not gooey cake. She has frozen, I believe homemade? organic waffles in the freezer, as well as vegetarian faux breakfast sausage. There’s coffee beans ready for you to ground. There’s a loaf of fresh bread for you to dive in to. There’s fresh squeezed oj. it goes on. On to the sweet house, it sleeps 6, comfortably. Has 2 full baths. Beds are comfy. Towels are thick. It is loaded with quality from the toaster to the coffee grinder, to the sheets. Location — it’s like a secret place seriously, away from the maddening crowd. We were there in October so we got to see the veggie garden still producing. There’s a hot tub complete with colorful lights. There are birds flitting around. it’s just such a relaxing spot. Décor — is so full of magic, and just interesting little whimsical things everywhere. Every time we turned around we noticed something else, from wonderful vintage lamps, to fun little frogs with crowns, to fascinating artwork, to of course, the elves themselves. Just watch your step because, like I said, there is magic afoot.

I had a great visit planned in late September and had never been to St Louis before. I had heard this was a wonderful B&B but never imagined I would be staying in such a fantastic guest house. The furnishings were more than expected: access to a computer, the most comfortable of mattresses, fabulously decorated while keeping the environment in mind at all times. It seemed to be centrally located to almost anything you would want to see in town and is close to mass transit and the train. And the hostess and owner was the friendliest of friendlies. I know where I’m staying my next trip back!

My family booked two nights here for my father and his girlfriend when they visited St Louis on his birthday. The innkeeper, Karen, goes above and beyond, and seems to really enjoy running the place. We sent several bottles of wine, a handmade card, and some other goodies in advance, and Karen arranged all the extras with some fresh flowers so that it would be the first thing he’d see when he came through the door. Karen also had the kitchen stocked with lots of delicious things, which was great for them, since they flew in and arrived late. They had nothing but positive things to say about their stay. The place also has a large number of rave reviews on .

I’m delighted to provide the first Unilocal review for Elves Manor, so that the Unilocal-dependent can have the word of fellow Unilocaler that Elves Manor is a great place to stay while in St. Louis. The website can tell you most of this, but here’s the rundown: The Manor is kept by a very nice woman named Karen, who lives in one of the houses in front of the Manor. When you check the website for availability and send an email to make a reservation, it’s her you’ll be talking with. Once you make your reservation, you pick an alarm code, and when you arrive at the Manor, the door is unlocked by the alarm is armed. You walk in, enter the code, and voila. There’s your key on the entry table, and you’re home, away from home. The house has all the comforts of home, and more. The first floor has a full kitchen, with dishes, cookware, and appliances; living room, bedroom, and bathroom. There is a two-sided gas fireplace open to the living room and bedroom. The second floor has a den, bedroom, and bathroom. The upstairs den has a nice pullout, so all told, the house can sleep 6. Both the living room and den have a TV with DVD player. There is a decent library of books, CDs, and movies. There is a wireless router with internet access and a computer and printer for guest use. There is a small deck with chairs, as well as a hot tub(!). Everything is clean, modern, and in great condition. The house is well-stocked with essentials: extra blankets and pillows, first aid supplies, a flashlight, bath salts… the list goes on. If this were not enough for you, Karen also stocks the refrigerator with breakfast items and her signature butter cakes(which are delicious, by the way). I stayed alone, for 4 days, and I was met with a mini quiche, blintzes, orange juice, milk, yogurt, granola, and 4 different kinds of fruit, plus bagels, waffles, and vegetarian breakfast«meats» in the freezer. Plus instant oatmeal, some snack foods, some basic cooking staples(oil, cooking spray, spices), condiments, and tea and coffee. No meat is stocked(Karen is vegetarian), and most food that she provides is organic. I stayed here by myself while visiting a friend, and the privacy and quiet and feeling of home were fantastic. It would be even better for a family or group of friends visiting St. Louis for a graduation, family reunion, vacation, or medical procedure(the house is very close to the hospital complex). The price increases for the number of beds used/people housed, but there are also some discounts available. I can’t compare this to other guest houses, as this was my first time renting one, but if others are as nice as this one, I’m on board.
