This shop has such fantastic deals on meat and special cuts. There are a variety of meat packages that have many diffrent types of meat that you can purchase together, so there is something for any budget. I was very impressed with the quality of the meat and the customer service was amazing. Not only did I find everything I was looking for but, found a few things I haven’t had in years, including fantastic Italian sausages that my entire family loved. They have many little odds and ends to at the store to purchase such as seasonings and side dishes you can make at home. They also have several BBQ sauces made by Don’s Meat Market and their all delicious! My absolute favorite is the sweet and smoky. Oh my goodness it’s so delicious and flavorful. Now the entire family loves it and doesn’t want any other type of BBQ sauces on their food. Yes, it’s that good!

I had some extra time this afternoon so I tried a few places I’ve never been to. Don’s market was one of those places. Actually, I was pretty impressed. After reading some of the reviews I almost didn’t know what to expect. The staff was very eager to help me. I told them I’d like to browse around a bit before I ordered some meat and they were fine.(I thought this was the place they hand out beer so I was also kind of waiting to be handed a nice cold beer, but no cigar!) Anyway I went back and ordered some meat. I bought a couple of steaks and pork chops. Not a lot but I wanted to try stuff first before I went all out. I thought the prices were comparable to a city Schnucks. I was surprised at how clean the place was. No music blaring out, no music at all. Didn’t notice bad floors or clients behaving inappropriately. Every staff person I spoke with were kind and spoke English. Kudos to the owners for fixing this place up, if that’s what happened. You have a neat meat market. The only thing that had me scratching my head was the receipt. There were no numbers on it so I had no idea how much each thing cost, just the total amount. No amounts on the wrappings from the meat either. The receipt seemed right for what I purchased so its not a problem, just different.

They had a decent amount of meat just none if the cuts I was looking for. I thought butcher would have them since you can find them in most grocery stores in the area.

I need to go out of my way to get my meat at Don’s. They always have a better price, it is always fresh and not frozen and the staff there are incredibly nice. If you’re looking for fresh meat to cook(not pre-seasoned or prepared) Don’s is the place to go. In the past I have gotten Pork Steaks and Chicken Quarters for work related functions. Today I purchased Chicken Wings. I usually get them at Sam’s for smaller quantities(3 – 6 lbs) and pay 2.00−2.50 per lb. I purchased a 40 lb case of fresh wings for $ 59 + tax making them about $ 1.50 lb. These wings are HUGE! I can’t wait to smoke them. Unless you are looking for pre-seasoned or prepared meats — there is no reason to spend more at Kenrick’s or Dierberg’s.

Superb alternative to supermarket frozen meats. Excellent quality, always fresh, clean, extensive variety and easy on your budget.

Good meats for a good price makes Don’s our butcher of choice. We buy pork shoulders and ribs there for barbecue and have consistently had good service and products. It’s pretty basic — not the place for prime meats or gourmet sausages — but beats taking your business out of the city to pay ridiculously high prices at Kenrick’s for the same cuts.

This is a what you see is what you get. They always have the basic cuts of meat I am looking for. I come here often during the summer for my BBQ needs. They usually have all three cuts of pork ribs. They showed me a great tip on how to remove the silver skin with a rag one day. They are always abundant and knowledgeable staff. This is not a fancy place where you going to find the best of the best rather a great product for a decent price.

While this place does have great meat for good prices, it does have a few drawbacks. First off, like most of the neighborhood, it is a run down mess. Bad floors, antique equipment, and terrible music blaring at you the whole time. The counter staff has problems speaking clear English which can present a challenge while asking for specialty cuts. The main problem is their clientele who are loud, rude, and in your face. I will drive by on my way home from work at times planning to stop, but if there are too many cars parked out front, I will keep going and pay extra at Kendrick’s so I won’t have to interact with a crowded urban nightmare. Also, if welfare, food stamps and other entitlement programs ended tomorrow, this place would not last another month. From what I have seen on my few trips shopping there, the vast majority of their customers are using EBT cards(food stamps) for their purchases, and it pains me to see most of them purchasing food that I cannot afford while working an honest living.

Great butcher shop, great cuts of meat, excellent, knowledgeable staff. I couldn’t say anything else. It’s nice to be able to go to a place and get that perfect cut of meat for your barbecue… And be saved from total ‘cue embarrassment by taking the advice from one of their friendly staff members on how to prepare the meat. It’s worth the trip to South Broadway for this place. Screw buying meat at Shop ‘n Save. I’m going here for all my barbecue, camping, carnivorous needs.
