I truly believe this place speaks for itself. This ma & pa sandwich shop has the best handcrafted delectables you could put your hands around and in your mouth.
Personally, being from near Albuquerque, NM, the green chili chicken has a robust flavor packed into the pita. In addition to sandwiches, it doubles as a bodega, where you can pick up local micro breweries packs.
If its too cold for you, they will offer local delivery to the lofts and businesses.

Love this place the breakfast burritos are fantastic! The burgers on Wednesdays are not to be missed either. If you’re in the area and want a reasonably priced quick bite this is it.

First time in St. Louis and came across this restaurant. Got the cajun beef sandwich alongside the pesto orzo pasta. Both were absolutely delicious, great portions, great price. Definitely recommend this place.

This place is excellent. The sandwiches are top notch and the atmosphere of the place is sort of like a deli crashed into a secondhand furniture store, which is an aesthetic that I personally appreciate very much.

Great deli with lots of options. I had white bean chicken chili. A little bit of a kick but great for a rainy fall day. They gave me a taste of it which convinced me.

Caruso’s is everything you want in a lunch spot: great menu, friendly people that know your name, and speedy.
When I started working downtown, I was so excited about my new lunch scene (although I miss Nora’s more than life itself). Caruso’s Deli is probably the take out and grab and go lunch spot of choice for my company. I think they even took me there on my first day.
The menu at Caruso’s is HUGE. Not too huge. Not variety over quality huge. It stays in the «deli category» but it enough to satisfy a team of coworkers.
I have only had amazing food there, and I have tried ALOT before finding what I get all the time. Burgers-​good. Gyros-​Good. Chorizo cheese beer (yes I said that) soup-​mindblowing. About three months in I got their blacken chicken flatbread and I have never looked back. I get it about every other week. Chicken, bacon, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo I want to bathe in.
They grill on Wednesdays outside and its the best thing ever.
It is important for me to mention that this is not a hipster spot. It’s hippy and that is a very big difference. They wear tie-​dye, they use styrofoam, and they are friendly to their customers. I heard once that a family runs the join which only adds to how much I love it. I went today and the man behind the counter called everyone by their name and said, «We appreciate your business.» It’s just good old-​fashion small business service.
If you live or work downtown and have not been to Caruso’s, you need to go today or tomorrow at least. You will be a regular in no time.

Came in from out of town. Huge menu. Got the blackened chicken sandwich as recommended by the owner. Fantastic. Jerry (the owner I think) was super friendly. Everyone was for that matter. Cool place.

Awesome sandwiches! They also have a large variety of craft beer, sodas, Flatbread, salads and snacks. Great place. Will definitely visit again.

Where do I start with Caruso’s? This deli is amazing and super friendly. I have been there several times now and it is like a blast from the past with the service, which is absolutely amazing. If you want something special they will make it. If you have an allergy like to nuts they will make sure they stay away from anything with nuts on it to make sure you are safe.
The food is amazing. I am a big fan of their grilled cheese and there ham and Swiss. Both come on pretzel buns and come out to you piping hot. The ham and Swiss has a crazy large amount of ham on it, and the grilled cheese is heavenly.
If you need a quick bite to eat at a reasonable price Caruso’s is the place.

This is an… interesting little joint. Seating is minimal, ambiance is industrial hipster (+some classic rock over the speakers) and they’ve lined one wall with drink coolers. The menu is chalkboarded on a wall and expansive as hell.
I know a lot of others have mentioned it, but the Cajun Beef is amazing — it’s like if you asked a bayou feller to make a gyro (with less heads and feet). The coffee is decent and my companion liked his smoked salmon sandwich, but even he enjoyed my Cajun Beef.
Service is… Well, there’s one dude running the counter (little white boy dreads and all) and you go pick up your own food. He was nice and responsive, though, so no complaints there.
It’s a little pricey (~$ 25) for two sandwiches and coffees, but we agree it was money well spent. Overall, I was pleased.

I am eating my delicious Cuban Panini as I type this review. First of all, this place is awesome! If you’re ever in the downtown Washington Ave. area you have to go to Caruso’s. The staff was very friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back to this place.

Yummo! Cute little place tucked inconspicuously in between a tattoo parlor and another little restaurant on Washington Ave. Man, does it pack a punch! It’s a rather large open area and the dude behind the counter was ever so inviting. Both employees were so nice and helpful. It was my first encounter with this little gem and eyeballed the chalkboard menu of sandwiches. I quickly gave up and just asked for a recommendation. He gladly recommended two different ones and were both instantly mouthwatering and ultimately ordered. They can pretty much do anything and substitute or change each magical creation into anything you want. I went for the turkey bacon avocado and opted for a wrap instead of a sandwich and also substituted mayo for their chipotle mayo. The blackened chicken also made the order and was tucked into a pita. Order was packed up and ready to go in just a few minutes. First bite had me wow’d and the chipotle mayo packs heat. The blackened chicken was also amazing and I highly recommend either. Tip: When asked if they deliver, they said they absolutely deliver to anywhere within walking distance of the shop. Really is a great place!

The owner at the counter was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We were honored to eat at a local family run establishment that seems to care about their customers and their reputation. They had gluten free bread, and made a half PBJ for my son. Our entire conversation was about how great the food was. The only thing missing is curb appeal to draw in more customers (although there was a steady lunch crowd!). Great place!

My husband and I love this place! We went when we first moved downtown and its been a favorite ever since! Although, i am a horrible decision maker, so it is always tough for me! My hubster usually gets the special of the day and is never disappointed! Portions are huge and substitutions are never an issue! Lots of fresh to go options in the case for a quick easy lunch… also the actual deli is stocked, so you can take your favorite meats and cheeses home! Family run and always super pleasant! Love them!

Uh. So I finally tried the sandwiches here (Cajun beef, roast beef & Colby), and they were freaking fantastic – the beef was so flavorful! The portion sizes were good, and they come with a choice of side. The employees were also really friendly, and I appreciate the Key & Peele reference on the breakfast menu. Will be returning again and again.

It’s obvious that locals know about this place and award it with stars! So many options, it’s almost confusing, but in a good way. If you love a great sandwich, look no further.
They even had breakfast burritos after noon… plenty of options for all needs. Thanks for the tableside service, I’ll be back!

This place brings me so much joy. If you are in the downtown area and need a cheap, delicious, and filling breakfast, look no further than Caruso’s. They have the friendliest staff and everything you could possibly want from a deli.
They also deliver lunch and you can pay by credit card in your office! It could not be easier to order such delicious food.
All of the people that work there are incredibly friendly and polite. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you have not already.

I recently hosted a 3-​day conference and asked Caruso’s to cater lunch on two days. Not only was Jerry and company friendly and professional, but the food was spot on. Lunch arrived on time and they keep in contact with me during the whole adventure. We even had a few special orders for dietary needs and they were overly accommodating.
All of our attendees were impressed with Caruso’s Deli and I’m happy I could share one of the best shops in St. Louis with the world.

Caruso’s isn’t a fancy place, but it has it’s own kind of charm thanks to the always super friendly service. It’s a great place to grab breakfast or lunch and the food is reasonably priced.
I love getting the Veggie Breakfast Sandwich on a croissant with eggs, diced peppers, cheese, tomato, and spinach — only $ 3.50! The menu is quite large, with rotating daily specials, so there’s always something for everyone.

I ordered Caruso’s on Saturday for all of the bridesmaids in my sister’s wedding. I didn’t get to see the location since I had another family member pick it up but I was super impressed by the ease of ordering, the speediness of the order prep, and how good the food was.
The menu is pretty large for salads and sandwiches. The person on the phone took the order with ease and had no questions about the gluten free order for one person. Score #1 in my book. They said it would be ready in 10 – 15 minutes and it was ready as soon as my dad walked through the door for pickup. Each of the 7 orders was correct (including customizations) which is a big deal to me because a lot of places seem to mess up at least 1. Score #2!
The best part was that the salads and sandwiches were great. I had the club salad and the balsamic vinaigrette dressing was really yummy. All of the girls enjoyed their order and it was exactly what we need right before the wedding.
