I’d love to review their food, but after waiting for 4 minutes when a guy poked his head out, and then being ignored for another 11 minutes until we walked out, I had zero desire to give them any business. Small place, and dead silent. There was a tv in the corner, turned off and collecting dust. Lovely.

Wife and I stopped into the new BBQ joint in south city tonight, a Thursday night, to try the eats. The store is small and I think there are only two employees, but the place was clean and the service was great. We ordered The Bully Feast For Two. Sliced pork, sliced brisket, slow qued chicken, four St. Louis spare ribs, two orders of BBQ beans, two small corn cobs, four slices of garlic bread, a huge basket of fries and two ice teas; totaled us out at $ 23.07 and a tip. The pork was the best I’ve had in St. Louis. The chicken was moist. Brisket was tasty but not exceptional. Ribs were tender enough to slide out the bone(wife didn’t think better than Pappy’s), and the beans were excellent. The owner makes four sauces himself, not bad. The joint delivers and the staff were clean and attentive. A nice alternative to Pappy’s and Southtown Pub. Well done new place.

I don’t even like baked beans and I finished them off first thing. I got the sampler feast and at the whole thing by myself. The meat on the ribs fell off the bone, the cole slaw was crisp and creamy and fresh, the garlic bread was delicious, the chicken was seasoned to perfection loved the sweet and the hot sauces. Went into a very enjoyable food coma afterward. Lol. I had been craving BBQ since I moved to St. Louis 3 weeks ago and this place was nearby and only had good ratings. They fulfilled my craving and then some. Will definitely be going back. And they deliver!!!

Visited Bully Boys this afternoon for lunch and really enjoyed it. My husband and I ordered the $ 20BBQ Feast(including tons of side items, chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork) so we could try everything. All the BBQ had a nice smoky flavor and I liked the rub on the ribs(not overwhelmingly flavorful but still added a nice char flavor to the ribs and was complimented well by the sweet BBQ sauce). The chicken was so tender it fell apart in our hands and the sliced and pulled meats were very tender as well. We even ordered a pound of pulled pork to go so we could have it for lunch tomorrow! I was a little bit disappointed that there were only 2 sauces available(sweet and mustard), but both were tasty. The sides were plentiful and generous: a whole basket of crinkle-cut fries, non-greasy garlic bread, sweet and tangy cole slaw, corn on the cob, and baked beans. The owner was there by himself and worked hard to accommodate both us and the take out orders that came in while we were there. Very brief wait for our food, and he was super nice and personable. If you live in South City and want BBQ that is good quality in a non-crowded laid back setting this is your place. Not fancy or trendy — they’re more focused on tasty food than portraying a particular image and that’s cool with me!

This place is fine. It’s a very simple space with good BBQ. It’s no Pappy’s, The Shaved Duck, or Roper’s, but it’s good. The ribs did fall off the bone, but the flavor was just a little unmemorable. It seems as though they focus more on the sauce than the rub. They offer 5 or 6 different types of sauces, so they will likely have something that you’ll like. We got the sampler platter so we could try a few different items. The platter came with ribs, chicken and pork or beef(I forget) along with bread and a couple sides. Although I cannot remember what type of meat it was, I was actually most impressed by the sliced meat. It was extremely tender. I really want to like this place more, as the gentlemen working there were incredibly friendly and grateful for our business, but the food didn’t blow me away by any means.

Very new looking spot. Smells like smoke when you walk in— and not the second-hand kind. Simple décor but that’s ok because that’s not what the focus is on. I shared the BBQ Feast for 2, a sampler’s delight. It consisted of chicken, beef, and ribs. Plus sides: baked beans, corn on the cob, slaw, fries, and garlic bread. If you like Pappy’s, you’ll def LOVE BBs. If not for the food, it’ll def be for the check. BB’s prices are half of Pappy’s and the wait time is nonexistent :)

I’m gonna make this simple, and sum it up right here: Bully Boys serves up some really, really good barbeque. I’ve only tried their pork offerings so far(pulled and sliced), but I can easily say that both of them were some of the best I’ve had in a while, easily on par with what you would get from a place like Pappy’s(if not better — i’d have to do a side-by-side to really be sure). Beyond the pork, they’ve got most of the typical bbq offerings: whole or half a chicken, ribs, brisket(I’ll say more about this in a sec), and all the usual sides. Very good prices, too(as of my visit, sandwich plus fries is 5.99). Back to the brisket: after talking to one of the owners, I am really looking forward to trying it — they cook it low and slow, and if it’s half as tender as he made it sound, it could be some of the best brisket around(heck, I’m drooling as i type this, and it’s 9 in the morning). The actual restaurant itself isn’t much to look at(a small bar and a handful of hightop tables), but hey, who gets barbeque for the atmosphere? All in all, if you are a bbq fan, do yourself a favor and eat at Bully Boys — you will not regret it.

Noticed this little place one cold wintry morning & did not give it much thought. Oh, wait, yes I did. My thought was — Ah, don’t think so, NEVER. Plenty of good bbq places and this one would most likely disappoint. Well, boy oh boy, WAS I WRONG !!! A friend raved about the place and despite being hesitant, decided to give it a go; referring to it as an adventure. Entered establishment-greeted nicely. Decided to order two sides as we had already made dinner plans-but just felt the need to try something. While we waited we were served a sample of the ribs. Cole slaw-homemade, crisp, delicious. Baked beans-best I have ever had-no fooling. Ribs-AMAZING!!! Now we are faced with another problem-we live close by-and need to lose weight. This is definitely going to be a challenge. Maybe we’ll walk/jog/bike there and back to offset numerous visits. Give Bully Boys a try. You’ll probably see us. Drooling for more!!!

I read the reviews before going in and thought«no way it’s that good.» Well, IT’S THATGOOD! I’ve had the brisket and the beef — both melt in your mouth. Their baked beans are truly the best I’ve ever had! They have crinkle fries, too! The owners are great — just a couple of good ol’ boys trying to make a living. It’s a definite must-try in South City!
