The first thing I noticed about this place is that gas has gotten far too expensive. Used to be, a gal could fill up her Chevy for five dollars and still have money left over for a coke. Sigh. The good old days. But the gas station itself is okay I suppose.

How can you not appreciate a gas station that is competitively priced but isn’t that far from the highway? You can often save a few cents by visiting the Phillips 66 station a few blocks to the south, but almost just as often, this BP, and its competitors along Hampton, are among the lowest in the central corridor of the City. Headed east on I-64/40, this is currently the last convenient exit for a fill up before you reach IL(and the higher taxes there). Convenience, in this case, are those stations that you can reach within a block or two of the interstate. There is another BP at Jefferson, although getting back onto the highway and heading east requires a detour. A brand new QT is waiting for travelers/commuters once the Vandeventer exit reopens as well.

It’s a BP. I stop in here when I realize I get up the hill on Sulpher avenue and turn onto Hampton and realize the gas light is on. I do have to admit that they usually have gas a few cents cheaper than the Circle K since they do compete with the Mobile across the street. It’s an OK place to get Liquor on the go if need be as they sport the«Full Package». I always know what a bottle of Remy Martin costs when I drive by.
