I went to see Dr. Albert on the advice of my father, who sees him for a pituitary problem. I needed to see an endocrinologist who could tell me why I wasn’t losing weight and was having so many other hormonal issues. That’s what endo’s do– diagnose hormonal problems. I’ve never been so insulted in my life as I was sitting and listening to this man negate all my problems. First off, he didn’t listen. He cut me off so many times I wanted to scream. He told me I had no hormonal problems(I had lab working clearly stating otherwise) and that I was«allergic to my hormones» and that I should be put on an SSRI for my panic attacks. WTF?! «Allergic to my hormones?» Ooookay. He also said my dangerously low cholesterol(121) was fantastic! He might as well have told an anorexic to keep up the good work– her weight’s fantastic! Any doc worth their salt KNOWS low cholesterol means hormonal imbalance because that’s what hormones are made from– LDL cholesterol. I had 50LDL, which it turned out later that I tested for low pregnenolone, the mother hormone which makes the other hormones. Then he said I was overweight because I ate too much(how is 1600 cal a day too much) that I didn’t exercise enough(six days a week for 45 of cardio and 15 weight lifting isn’t enough?) I eat a pescetarian diet. I exercise a lot. I eat decent portions. My hormones are off. These are all facts. But the doc wasn’t interested in the facts. He wanted me to go bye-bye so he could go home for the weekend. I finally lost it when he said I needed to get a pedometer to lose weight. If I walked for 4,000 steps/day the weight would come off. What a condescending quack. He said I needed a nutritionist instead of an endocrinologist. A naturopath diagnosed me as being estrogen dominant(that’s hormonal doc!), having an iodine deficiency(also related to thyroid hormones buddy!) and as being deficient in pregnenolone(gasp! hormones again!!!) I feel robbed of my copay after going to this guy. I was seriously tempted to ask for my money back, but really? I don’t have the time. I do however have all the time in the world to tell everyone about this guy’s negligent methodology.
