Dr. Abbadessa is a compassionate doctor something you won’t know unless you actually go and see for yourself; he is an expert with rectal and intestinal conditions, I usually never give 5 stars to doctors because either the staff is lazy and pisses me off or the doctor has me waiting too long and then comes in and doesn’t do a thing and in some cases even misdiagnoses me, I called a nurse line and described my symptoms and was told that nothing could be done as my description sounded like nothing more than food poisoning; I suffered a whole weekend and when Monday morning came and still nothing had«ran its course» I called the emergency line for his office. I was amazed that I received a call back right away I described my symptoms which are much too graphic to even state online but let’s just say I was pretty bad off, I was weak and nothing was helping not even the white soda remedy. Dr. Abbadessa wanted to know the last full meal I had ate and what it was, he asked that I tell him everything I had consumed and which medications I had taken, the next thing he wanted was for me to get help and to come to his office as soon as possible and to bring a driver just in case after evaluating me I would need emergency surgery. I also want to mention that he doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable. When I made it to his office my room already had the little bag for personal items and a gown laid out, mind you I never even told him what time I was coming, he had already contacted the anesthesia people and had my name added to their list as a precaution the front desk staff did not bother me by asking for insurance cards and such when they saw how sick I was. I heard them in the talking trying to get my information from the insurance company website this I highly appreciated. As soon as the doctor came into the exam room and saw the blood in the toilet he immediately told the nurses to get the operating room set up and to prep me for surgery. Upon waking the doctor explained to my husband that I had experienced a hemorrhage which he had found and burned to stop further bleeding, I also had suffered some other issues that needed to be repaired as a result of my being sick for so many days. I was prescribed two different antibiotics which is a plus because it can be rather hard to rid yourself of certain strains of food borne bacterial infections, because I am a female a prescription which I could fill in the event that I developed a yeast infection from such strong antibiotics was also provided, long course strong antibiotics usually do cause mild yeast infections, I also liked how the nurse who helped me get dressed went over little things I could do to be a little more comfortable once I made it home. I was also called the next morning by the same nurse because she knew I had not been eating and she wanted to stress how important it was that I eat. Anyone can be a M.D. but there are only handfuls that actually are compassionate about their jobs AFTER business hours.

Very unprofessional physician(would not call him a doctor because he is not an M.D.). He has a very sketchy past complete with serious drug charges. I would never recommend this man to anyone. Beware

I really had a fantastic experience with Dr. Abbadessa. He was extremely friendly and made the visit by the least pain in the ass as possible(pun intended). Maybe I got lucky because we were able to bond over both having lived in San Antonio, but I found him to be extremely easy to keep conversation with while having a mild-medium procedure done. After it was over, he was extremely straightforward and clear about the expectations for treatment and gave me reading material and plenty of medications to ensure a speedy recovery. I will fly home to St. Louis just to see him anytime I am having bottom issues. PLEASEBEAWARETHATTHEADDRESSANDPHONENUMBERON UnilocalAREINCORRECT! Please see my tip for the correct information.
