The days of convenience markets, especially those that don’t sell gas, are waning. Still, this little shop is clean and well-maintained. Everything is a tad overpriced, as is the way of things in convenience market land. Still, I was happy to get a couple 16oz Rockstar Energy drinks on sale, 2 for $ 3. The cashier smiled at me, but didn’t engage in any small talk — just a typical transaction in a tomb where he can’t hear the death knell.

Now that we have grocers, Wal-Marts and other venues that are open 24 hours, the need for 7-Eleven just isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, it still serves its purpose and is good, but it is not like the original 7-Eleven’s that were the cutting edge of 24 hour availability. This location is in my hood and has become my place for morning coffee. I start my day at 4:30am and besides a gas station, not to many places are open for me to grab a cup of Joe. The coffee is fairly good for a convenience store and fresh donuts are also available. I need that caffeine kick and sugar buzz to start the day. This place is also where I first discovered Billy Goat Chips. For that, I will be forever grateful. Billy Goat Chips is truly a chip that you just can’t eat one. The staff here is mechanical. I think they could be more friendly, but they get the job done. I guess selling cups of coffee, Slurpee’s and Lottery tickets all day can get repetitive. Hopefully some day they will sell me a winning ticket.
